Our fav british series is Agatha Christie's Poirot with David Suchet. We just love those & have grown quite fond of the characters. They don't air anymore unfortunately, but our library carries many of them so we get them when we can.

yes, we love David Suchet as Poirot, I don't know if anyone else will ever be able to play that part again.
I always think CSI is very graphic .... my DD watches it all the time. Robson Green is really good when he does less serious roles. He was brilliant in a show called "Christmas Lights" a few years ago. I also loved him in "Soldier Soldier" which was one of his first roles I think ... I am not really into crime shows so I haven't seen "Wire in the Blood" He also dabbled in the music business with his co-star from "Soldier Soldier" Jerome Flynn.

He's on TV at the moment ..... in the incredibly exciting show " Extreme Fishing with Robson Green" :rotfl2:

That's a nice rendition of Unchained Melody :rolleyes1 Think I will pass on the fishing show

Robson Green is from my part of the Country so I do like him:)

Does that mean you have the same accent as him .. I love to hear him talk .. just not about fishing ;)

I think he has been on tv quite a bit on and off, but not in long series. There is something about him I think.;) There are ladies who watch the Extreme Fishing programme just to see him.:confused3

Fishing is not my game, but he does have a certain charm and the most beautiful blue eyes.

I think he's ok but I certainly wouldn't spend an hour watching a fishing programme. ;)
:thumbsup2 agree

Me neither .... there are probably only 3 men in the world who I could spend an hour watching them fishing ;);)

I can't believe you guys are struggling to come up with 3! I could name about 10! :rotfl2: ;)

Some of the one's that spring to mind for me are:
David Boreanaz
Johnny Depp
David Beckham (but unlike Marilyn & Phil Spencer - I would not want him to talk :lmao: )
Robbie Williams
Will Smith

David Boreanz :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Blame Sarah for limiting the number to three! I think it makes it more interesting in deciding which names make the cut.

David Boreanaz is AOK with me. How about Nathan Fillion? Taye Diggs?
I'll have to check out who Taye Diggs is ...

I love Nathan Fillion. Castle is an awesome show.
:lovestruc Castle and Bones two of my fave shows.

has anyone seen magnetic paper at poundland recently? i think i saw it there last year but cant remember. wont order it off ebay (have to pay postage charge) if i can get it in a shop and cheaply :)

anyone on here DVC members?
trying to decide between a few resorts for our post cruise 3 nights.
its between SSR, AKV, BLT or BWV. have stayed at SSR and AKV before and we would kinda like to stay somewhere new, but also think why mess with something we know we like?
other option is BLT either bay lake view or MK view, or BWV preferred view.
any guidance/opinions/help will be appreciated!

If you can manage to get in I would say BWV as I love that area. Always somewhere to walk around and such a great atmosphere. I don't think F&W starts till the weekend after but might be earlier. We are staying at BCV as it is our favourite place.

Mom would probably, dad? Not sure with the Disney-thing. He can't anyway as he can't get a US-visum because of one of those annoying bureaucratic thingies. We are planning on one day doing a HAL-cruise, as a whole family (brother, SIL and nephew also). Parents now really are open to the idea of cruising and with HAL now planning on getting a ship to NL full year round and adding more exciting itineraries it is very tempting.

You said it well, parents allways want the best. :thumbsup2 These two are a bit lovingly nuts though. They know travelling is one of the most important things in life for me and will do anything and all to make that possible. They've also been faced with the constant damaging of chairs when flying. When I first mentioned this cruise, my dad already started working his brain on how to get my chair safely to Barcalona as he knew there would not be enough time to fix real bigger damages quick enough to still be able to go on the cruise. Let's not even mention all the other things that have gone..... interesting on me as soon as I decide to go on a trip. Dad's the silent type, didn't say a word about the cruise for over a month until coming up with "the perfect plan" in making sure this time at least I get sent off without real troubles. He's a doll, that one. :goodvibes

I hope you manage a wonderful HAL family cruise from a local port. So much easier. I hear it is a great cruiseline and one we hope to cruise on.

I guess you still have the possible chair damage to contend with homeward bound, but at least the chance is halved!!!

i had a look and F&W festival starts the 30th, and we'll be checking out on the 27th so hopefully should miss it.
might try and ask a renter on the dis to check on availibility for me.....

Karen....we are DVC members. I have stayed at SSR, AKV and BWV (which is were we are staying after the cruise). Have not stayed at BLT....not too keen on staying there.....a little too modern for my taste. I've heard some people didn't like SSR (too remote) and AKV (same thing). I liked them both especially AKV so I could watch the animals from our balcony. In the past, BWV was not high up on our preferred list. Really nice, but our room was way down at the end of a long-g-g-g-g hall. We would come in and make it a joke and race to our room. Felt like we were in the Twilight Zone...we ran and ran, passing what looked like the same pictures, and seemed to be getting nowhere. Weren't too impressed so we've decided to give it another chance. Love Old Key West (the original DVC resort) and the Yacht Club.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

Agreed!! Love his show on his trip the Orient Express.

David Boreanz :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Same here. Love Nathion Fillion and David Boreanz.

Here is pic of Taye Diggs.

thanks for the info,
we've stayed at SSR and AKV before and love them, but part of us wants to try somewhere new. we went through the rest of the DVC resorts and narrowed it to those two plus BLT (not that bothered about the resort itself, but think being that close to MK would be awesome) and BWV (kinda like the look of this resort), but am now veering towards standard view as it uses much fewer points....
then again, i suppose this is all hypothetical anyway til i find out if they're even available

Karen, BLT didn't have any availability for a Lake view on the 24th Sept in a studio.
BWV's had no studio's or 1 bed standard views.

Have a look on the DVC availability thread on the DIS boards under the rental forum, should give you a rough idea of available resorts.

Good Luck. :)

I

Be warned though!!!!!!! They can give you a heart attack! :lmao:

I was writing a message for someone on their door on my last cruise and as I was bent over writing she opened the door, I sort of stumbled forward, she jumped back and we both looked at each other and screamed. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Lee was on the floor laughing his head off, he said it was like something out of a Carry On movie - he laughed about it all day!

Aww Claire, that sounds like something that would happen to me.

I'll have to keep an eye out for a whiteboard now!

Ok your comment about the twilight zone makes me laugh -- DH and I were walking back to the Beach Club from DHS one night, and we decided to cut through BWV to take a look (we have stayed at the Inn part only). Well we went in on the far end closer to DHS, walked around for what seemed like ages (lost of course, that place is like a maze) and came out like 50 feet away at a different door from where we came in!! I like the Boardwalk area, but prefer Beach Club because it always seems like the rooms at the BW are FOREVER away from where you want to be. :goodvibes

thanks for checking that for me, i totally forgot about the availibility chart on the dis!

just had a look - looks like we're back to AKV or SSR! lol, either that or i'm going to have to book an actual room instead of renting points :scared:

I got a renter last week Karen, there was no availability for BLT for our dates were stayin 5 nights post cruise so were at akl now.

karentan said:
i'll be renting points again, have done it three times before and its a bargain when compared to booking a hotel.
unfortunately that means that i cant phone up and check availability myself, and havent found a renter yet :(

BWV will be a probable no. It's close to food&wine and the Epcot resorts are quickly booked by then. Even OKW (studios) is fully booked up for most of the 2 weeks I'm doing afterwards.

BLT; do you plan to spend lots of time at resort, MK and/or Epcot? Than I could see that being an option if available. Otherwise I'ld go with SSR or AKV-Jambo House. But that's me and I'm obviously no owner.

Have you called to check on DVC availability? I think you might save yourself some stress if you rule out the resorts that are not available anyway. I have not had good luck in booking DVC lately--always seems to be one or two days that are already booked.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2I agree, last time we booked though DVC, we ended up with three moves, because I wanted to stay at AKV. SSR is our home resort, it's a lovely place and if you are not going to be in the parks all the time, it's nice and easy access to Downtown Disney..... but can be a bit of an extra drive if you visit MK a lot ( SSR does seem to have become a very large resort, but they have updated pools areas ). As above AKV-jambo house or SSR would be my choice. Both of these resorts alway feel lovely and peaceful. I don't like BWV I feel all the resorts in that area roll into one, thats only my opinion
Good Luck with your booking

Whereabouts in Kent are you both from?

HI we are from Cape -le- Ferne, which is near Dover. We saw the Disney Magic docked in Dover last year and was able to spot the cabin we will be in.

yes, we love David Suchet as Poirot, I don't know if anyone else will ever be able to play that part again.

Totally agree. I was watching a "behind the scenes" and cracked up when I learned of how he does the little Poirot walk - he said that he squeezes his bottom together very tight and then he walks and that is it.

If you've seen Poirot on tv, I'll bet you're trying that walk right now.

I think BWV standard view go straight away as they are really popular.

I keep thinking of the strangest questions about the FE, having never done it before we want to make sure we do it right!!

When we deliver the gifts, do we put something on there that lets the recipient know who it came from??
Not sure if dumb question or not lol!! :happytv:

...

I weighed my suitcases after I packed yesterday. I am in DEEP doo doo. My smallest suitcase with clothes for a week and NO evening wear weighed 40 pounds :( My carry on (Computer, cabling, cpap & cameras) weighted 25 - allowable is apparently 18. :scared1: ...

When all else fails, wear a coat when you board & fill up your pockets with camera & anything heavy!! I have DS put anything heavy in his pockets...sometimes works!

... Luggage pre-check. We are flying Delta, which is one of the allowed pre-check. My question is this. So you put your luggage outside the door the night before and you never see it again? Or do you check it with the airline at the port? If it is outside the door, how do you get your toiletries and other "not allowed liquids and items" in your luggage? We usually hold back some toiletries and other things that we carry off and then transfer to our luggage once we get on the pier as we need these things but not all of them are TSA allowed in carry on. Any information would be appreciated...

While I don't know for sure about the wb, but.... last month on the eb when we disembarked in Spain, we did have to claim our luggage, do customs, and take the bags over to the Delta desk in the terminal. So in that case, we did keep a carry-on & walk off the ship with it, to make sure everything was ready - like the ziploc of liquids, etc.

In the case of Barcelona, though Delta was the only airline participating....

and PALO.....Not sure if another question was answered yet, but Palo is complementary when you're a Platinum member, so maybe that's what Krisann was saying...?

Not sure if any of this info is useful...lol

Oh and yes, I was told DCL has chartered the Magic out for the last Med cruise...big bucks!!

:goodvibes

I've done it both ways, with & without my name or room, and have received it done both ways.....:thumbsup2

I have received an FE once from each person, several times, one gift per cabin, one for each person....
I believe the only really concrete rule is that you have FUN with it!! :rotfl:
