Hi all,

Wow, I go to bed last night at 9 (I caught a summer cold....yuck!) and I get up this morning to 4 new pages!

Welcome to all the newcomers. I think we are all in for a great time!

Just a reminder that I am still looking for people willing to volunteer their room for the stateroom tour. To sweeten the pot a bit, I'm including a special surprise for the stateroom with the best decorated door!

Thanks,

Karen

i'm more than willing to volunteer whatever room i'll be in. only problem is that i havent got a clue what room yet!

ps: hope you're feeling better now :)

I just wanted to share the t-shirts I received today. I hope it works, I never used Photobucket before.

Lynne, Great photos! When we went to Alaska a few years ago, we did lots of the same things you guys did - Mendenhall Glacier, Misty Fjords plane, Whitepass railroad.

My very first pair of "outdoorsy" shoes were Merrells. I remember buying them prior to our first cruise so I could do Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica. Hard to believe that was 11 years ago... time flies! But I sure enjoyed them, and still have them as my "garage" shoes for yardwork. Last forever! :thumbsup2

I never thought I'd be the kind of woman who wears "comfortable shoes" but in Europe it is a necessity. You don't know how hard it was for me to spend the money on Merrells when I'd much rather spend it on heels, but after a few days of wearing them, I knew it was worth it.....even if I never wear them at home or out in public in front of people I know LOL. :rolleyes1

My DH loves his Merell's. He lives in his both here and when we go away..apart from wearing his crocs.

I love my croc flip flops. They are really comfy and don't hurt your toes with the toe posts.

You know I tried crocs and they just didnt' work for me. I love my Sanuk yoga mat flip flops, but for walking long distances for days in a row, I need more support.

I'm a nail tech, and it makes me crazy when people get substandard services, especially when they are charged such high prices. It makes us all look bad, like we are ripping people off! My clients usually get a week out of a traditional polish manicure, and at least two weeks with UV polish (Shellac). Having it all chip off a few hours later is ridiculous, and you should certainly go back to the salon and complain should that ever happen again.

I'm sure you could bring your own polish and basecoat to the ship's salon, but considering the prices they charge it would be shameful to pay so much if you are supplying the products. I can guarantee they won't give you a discount on the price if you bring your own.

I'll bring some odds and ends, so if anyone has a nail emergency I'd be happy to help them out! I travel with OPI polishes, nail glue and repair silk, files, base and top coats. If I felt comfortable traveling with my Shellac lamp I'd bring that too, but I don't think the bulbs would survive the journey. But I'm serious, if anyone needs a hand with a repair or a quick polish job, I'm in cabin 6071.

That is very sweet of you. :flower3: I am a bit obsessed with my nails - I'm a recovering nail biter  so I have to keep them nice and smooth and poilshed or I just can't handle it - I always bring basecoat and polish w/ me too, but I like Essie b/c the brushes are a little smaller & easier to polish for me.

just pushed the cut off date for the secret mickey back to the 27th august (2 weeks prior to sailing). figured that since 13 of 16 people already have their assignments, the cut off date being so close to sailing won't be a problem.

so does anyone else want to join in? had a couple of people join in since they've signed up for the last sea day lunch/mickey reveal.

I am thinking about it - just need to read more on Secret Mickey and how it all works.

Hi Everyone,

I'm struggling to keep up with everything on the forum there's so much stuff on there.

Firstly Thanks to everyone for the welcome messages, they were great. A little worried about a few comments regarding doing a TA as a 1st cruise as 'interesting' !!! I thought this was going to be a laid back feet up kind of a holiday both before and during. It's dawning on me now that this will definately not be the case :eek:

Thanks

Paul, Helen & Grace x

Do not worry Paul! :goodvibes This cruise is a laid back cruise if you want it to be. That's the thing about cruises, there are always activities going on, so you can be as active or as relaxed as you want to be. Disers plan a lot of activities and the ship does as well, but its nice just to "do nothing" on the ship too.

I know that for me, those 6 sea days last year on the EBTA were very relaxing and it was really a great opportunity for me to spend quality time w/ my husband going to things together and just sitting & reading also. Even w/ everything that was available, I think it was one of our most relaxing cruises.

Karen (one of many),

Kevin and I are arriving early on the 10th. We would be happy to share a ride to the ship with you. I don't have the exact flight info--Kevin took charge of those arrangements. We will be coming from New York on American Airlines.

Thanks for the offer to join you,
Karen (one of many)

hi another karen of many!!
do you have a vague idea of what time you arrive at BCN? shuttle is 115 euros for between 8 and 12 people, so the more people we get, the cheaper it gets

I am thinking about it - just need to read more on Secret Mickey and how it all works.

let me know if you want to join in, its just basically secret santa, but in september :)
budget is between $20 and $25 per room, you can do one gift per person, one per room, or multiples. its really up to you :)

I just wanted to share the t-shirts I received today. I hope it works, I never used Photobucket before.

Yes Sarah, I am...I have my alarm set on my phone:blush: I just want something booked :goodvibes

i'll be doing it on sunday but not at 5am! :scared:
guessing they open at midnight EST?

Hi, Karen,

We really have to try to figure out some way to distinguish one Karen from another--or maybe it doesn't even matter--when you can't remember someone's name, there will be a good chance that her name is Karen! Maybe we can try using home towns--I can be Orlando Karen? Or travelling companions--I can be Karen with Kevin? Or DIS-names--I can be Rikersmom (Riker was the best schnauzer who ever lived!--at the time it made more sense than being "Steve & Kevin's Mom")

Anyway, I think Kevin & I arrive around 7 a.m. We'll have to kill some time somewhere, so it might as well be at the airport waiting for you. Kevin's college Spanish is probably rusty, and I don't speak it at all. I am thrilled to have reliable transport without trying to arrange it once we get there.

It is so refreshing to see that I'm not the only one who is excited about the cruise, even though it's months away.

I'm looking forward to meeting you,
Karen

Wow, this is a chatty group! I've been off the boards for a few days and had about 50 pages to read :scared1:....but keep it coming - good stuff!

We are about to wind down from all of the celebrating in our house. In the last 2 weeks - my husband turned 50 :thumbsup2, my daughter graduated High School :dance3:, we celebrated our 26th Wedding Anniversary yesterday :lovestruc, and Monday is our son's 23rd birthday :goodvibes. Whew! :)

We're going to New Orleans this weekend to do some final celebrating, then it's back to normal. Gotta get this diet going again - 20 lbs. need to be gone by the time we cruise. :lmao:

Just want to say :welcome: to all the newcomers!

Okay, back to the diet. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

congratulations peggy on all the celebrations!!!

rikersmom - i'll put a shout out on here to find out who is getting in at what time on the 10th and we can just all hire a minibus. given that a taxi for two people to the cruise port is at least 40 euros, a minibus should work out to be about 14-15 euros each max. the more people we get, the cheaper it gets, and we all get a bit of company on the long ride to the terminal!

Who's arriving on the 10th?

there seems to be a few people arriving into barcelona on the 10th (embarkation day) in the morning. if there's enough people interested i'm looking at organising a private minibus to take us all to the port. the more people we get, the cheaper it should be.
if you are interested, please PM me with your flight arrival time and number of people.

I'll add you to the list Mary. :thumbsup2

Thank you!! :wizard:

I will be, but luckily for me it's 11pm instead of 5am...:goodvibes
