Well that's me finished my cruise clothes shopping, at last :woohoo:

I hit the fantastic Marks and Spencer 50% off dress sale and just won a formal night gown on eBay at a fab price :cool1:

DH will be relieved it's over and so will his wallet :lmao::lmao:

Well done!!:thumbsup2

Karen, sorry to hear about your FIL! Fingers crossed the news will be better soon. As far as insurance goes; you might want to look into the conditions before you buy any. No clue about systems in the UK etc. but overhere we've got 2 "parts" of insurance; cancellation insurance and trip insurance. The latter for covering all kinds of problems during the trip (including having to fly back in case of ilness, death etc. of oneselve or loved ones in first and second degree). The first however is for coverage in case one has to cancel a trip BEFORE it ever started. Probably also has to do with us having a different payment system (95+% of times trips have to be fully paid at booking or looooooong before the trip will happen). Anyway, that type of insurance only covers in case it's taken out within a max. of 7 to 14 days (differs a bit per insurance company) after first booking the trip. In such cases you would have no use of buying an insurance with said conditions now. Thus reading into the conditions before buying anything is a smart move in this. Another thing to be aware of; to what extent will the insurance company see FIL's illness as a "pre-excisting condition" and not cover a possible cancellation or early return home if need be? We tend to have no probs. with that, but I know that in the UK this subject can be a bit more problematic. Having said that, I'm just hoping that it will all turn out to have been "for nothing" and you can sail and have some relaxing times.

T&C; congrats on the dress! Obviously we want more details. Pics, perhaps? ;)

A question for those on here that like to bake (or shop  ); as some might know I've been seriously infected with a baking and candy/chocolate making addiction. I've already found that many products are (a lot) cheaper in the US, where as others aren't avail. in our corner of the world. So I'm going to do some nice shopping to extend my material while at WDW. But; what are good places to shop for baking materials? Think about the "hardware" like pans, cutters, decorators etc. but also about the ingredients like flavoring oils etc. I've got a few items of Wilton I'm eyeing and by then I'll want to fill up my Lorann oils supplies again. I know I can order stuff online and at the moment I use Ebay for some essentials I can't wait for, but in september I would just really love to shop IRL. Browse, look at the things IRL, feel them, real shopping so to say. ;) Any stores I should definately hit? Any tips for those hidden special gems shops, products or what nots?

(ps; on Ebay there are a couple of toooo cute Mickeyhead mini cupcake pans being sold. Just used them earlier this week and I sweat; mickey cupcakes do taste better than the regular ones  )

Well I am not surprised after that! John almost drowned when he was about 15/16 in a lake in Switzerland. Someone rescued him(obviously!!!), but now he doesn't really like being out of his depth either. Both of us prefer an empty pool! I hate people jumping in. We love renting a villa with private pool!

Gosh no wonder John's a bit cautious :scared1: Of all the 20+ years we have been holidaying, we have never done a villa with it's own pool, so it's on our list of things to do :thumbsup2

I think I am going to do some planning today, maybe plan out things to do in Barcelona & then look at all the ports. Everything has been so horrible lately what with the burglary & my uncles funeral on Monday, hopefully it will cheer me up.

Claire, i'll PM you some of our favourite things in BCN and see if you want to add them into your itinerary :thumbsup2

Gosh that was a long wait until the funeral, sending you big hugs  retail therapy... that'll cheer you up hun :rotfl2:

Wow, I've been trying to catch up with everything at home and have been working a ton as well. Andrew's 13th birthday party with family is this weekend and it's been a challenge getting the house ready. I swear my house was upside down and sideways with me trying to work, take care of Steve, take care of Andrew and the dog...not to mention yard work! Phew, I'm tired just thinking about it all.

Karen, I am sympathising with you, my house is chaos too, we have a royal visit this weekend, my darling MIL and SIL are coming up for Easter and it's DH's birthday on Sunday, so the house has to be ready for the "white glove inspection" :lmao:

I hope Andrew has a lovely birthday :bday: from us

Wow well done you!!! :worship:

I haven't bought any clothes for the cruise yet. I really need to get back on my diet, it's gone totally out of the window lately! I say sitting here eating a bag of Mini Eggs!!!!

The only thing I have bought are two pairs of Birki's.

I need to lose about 16 lbs before our 10 night cruise in June, so I started back at "fat club" last week. I'm terrible if I do it on my own, I need someone to be watching over me. I lost 4.5 lbs on the scales last night :woohoo:

I really love those Birkis..... I didn't tell DH I was finished my shoe shopping for the cruises :rolleyes1 Rachel (DD) wants a pair, she just can't decide which ones to get :confused3

Okay, you're allowed those Mini Eggs, then no more !!! If I'm on 1200 calories a day, then so are you :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I hope it's not the one I was after :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I've put a link on of it, hope it's not the same one, we'll have to sit at opposite ends of the dinner table :rotfl2:

:cool1::cool1: Congrats that you have that chore over and done with! Now....when can you come and do my shopping?????:rotfl2:

Happily do it for you, I'll be your personal shopper :thumbsup2

I've uploaded some links of the dresses :)

I bet they do, anything with Mickey Mouse on it is way better :lovestruc

You sure can. :thumbsup2

We usually book through USrentacar.co.uk, we are picking up from PC & drop it off at Miami airport (done PC to MCO in Feb too). Have a look on that website as they are usually the cheapest around. :thumbsup2

Hi Claire.

Will I have t get a taxi to the car hire office? Which company is based there?

Thanks

I'm not a huge baker, but I have visited D&G Occasions (http://dandgoccasions.com/) a couple of times. Not sure how their prices stand up to anyone else's, but they have an unbelievable selection--who knew you could make cakes in so many sizes and shapes?!?

Hi Mel, No you don't have to take a taxi, the rental companies operate shuttles that take you to their offices (v.short drive). The shuttle bus stops are right outside the exit of the terminal and the shuttles run fairly frequently when there is a ship disembarking. The rental companies in Cape Canaveral are Budget and Hertz, I believe.

We will be arriving 3 days early to do some sightseeing around Barcelona. Where should we stay in terms of location - La Rambla, Barri Gotic or Gracia? I am not familiar with the different districts within Barcelona so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Karen, we used this site to help choose a hotel in Barcelona:
http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/areas/barcelona-barrios-guide.html

It gives an overview of each area and then there is a link to a hotel map, which provides details and reviews on hotels in each area. We also used Tripadvisor and comments from other DISers to make our final choice.

Also check out the first page of this thread to see where others on the thread are staying.

Hope this helps to narrow down the choice. :)

Just bought my tix on Cheap O Air!! As they say at the Haunted Mansion - "There's no turning back now!"

I've decided to go from a 9C to an OTG rate - lowest I would get would be a 9D, and I will save almost $1k. I found pix of the 9D and the 2 portholes are cute, even though I would prefer one large porthole.

reason i ask is that we found out yesterday that gary's dad's tumour is back, i dont know at the moment what the prognosis is

Karen, I'm so sorry to hear the news of your FIL - Will hope & pray that he receives a good prognosis.

We did the WWII tunnels in Gibralter last year when we stopped to take pictures of the apes in the am.. We had an ape that opened the window and climb in the van and started blaring the horn. I will check and see if I still have the video to post this weekend. It was very funny.:rotfl:

I can just imagine that happening....that is soooo funny!!! :lmao::lmao:

Liz- We were right on the riverwalk across the street from the convention center. I loved it. The weather was great compared to all the rain we get here in March and April. We saw the Alamo and watched an IMAX movie. Mostly I went to courses. We also went to a restaurant called Dough that was on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

Claire- I feel your pain about the diet. I absolutely cannot go through Easter season without eating my weight in mini-eggs!

Oh yes please, I didn't get around to doing any planning yesterday but would love to know what you recommend. :thumbsup2

Yes, it was 3 weeks, they couldn't get the local church and the cemetary (where my aunt was buried) dates to tie up any earlier.

I hope you have a fun weekend with the In-Laws......:rolleyes1

I love mine and i'm going to try & resist wearing them before the cruise. Does Rachel (is that Stevie's tranny name????? :lmao:) want some Disney one's or just plain?

I love Mini eggs! I haven't eaten them all yet.....but I plan to start again on Tuesday. :thumbsup2

Fab dresses. :thumbsup2

They have shuttle buses that pick you up from the Port & take you to the nearby car hire place. :thumbsup2

I didn't know they have Cadbury's Mini Eggs in the US. They are so yummy! :)

My diet is a bit slow to start, mainly as I have been a bit under the weather this week with a head cold which then gave me a few chest problems and generally felt really unwell, so it's difficult to do any exercise or focus on eating well. I haven't put any weight on in the past month though, so at least I am starting from the same point. I would love to lose a stone before WDW in July, so as soon as I feel better I will be exercising a lot more.

Funnily enough I have been eyeing up that Monsoon dress :rotfl2::rotfl2: and what an amazing bargain :woohoo::woohoo: It is gorgeous. Love your M & S dresses too.

I can highly recommend a walk round the gothic quuarter .. it is stunning. Also the Gaudi houses are within an easy walk from our hotel. And the Sagrada Familia is a must see. It is unbelieveable. Last time we missed going to Parc Guell which was on my to-do list, so that is my one and only definite place to visit this time ( only there for one afternoon and evening ). It is also lovely walking down the by harbour.
