We have never bothered with high tea and I honestly don't think I could squeeze in another meal. If it was really spectacular then I might try it but I would have to skip lunch or dinner to do it.

I really hope I can get the Ladies High Tea sorted, it will be a fab.

This time in 5 months I will be exploring Barcelona!

Fingers crossed Michelle! I will be poised on the DCL site ready & waiting at 90 days too.

I love the High Tea, though it isn't anything as fantastic as Brunch I am always full!!! It just feels a lovely peaceful hour with great service and jolly good food. I just about love everything, so have problems not eating the things John doesn't like too!!!!! He isn't as keen as me, but he goes for me. We are not bothered about dinner there anymore, and though we love Brunch I just feel so poorly afterwards we have stopped going.

I remember it being cucumber sandwiches, as I was the only one eating them. Can’t remember what else the selection was as everyone else was chomping them.

There was a nice selection of light cakes and different teas. It was about 5 years ago we did it, so hopefully someone else with be able to comment for you

High Tea at Palo- (Disney Magic only) - A traditional English tea service is offered on days at sea. Finger sandwiches, trifle and scones are included with your freshly brewed tea. Reservations required, $5.00/person

What exactly do they serve at high tea ... I am a bit fussy when it comes to sandwiches and the like.

The sandwiches have been different each of the three times we have been but are usually unusual, so might not suit you. They also make them with different kinds of bread/mini rolls. I do remember prawn cocktail and a cheddar and pickle though. I think they were the most normal. As I said though, I loved them all!!

The scones were gorgeous, served with jam and cream. You might get the chance of a second or even more, just depends. Then there is a little cake stand of mini cakes. Oh yummy!!!! Again, all different and some more unusual. Then there is a dessert. Twice we have had gorgeous trifle and once a lovely lemon one. Both were quite big.

There is a big choice of teas from normal to quite unusual. Of course you can have coffee or cold drinks. You also have water on the table.

They only have a small section of the dining room open for High Tea, so it is very quiet.

We arrive late afternoon on the Weds, so will just probably just wander near the hotel & grab dinner that night....followed by two full days.

My biggest nightmare is tomato juice, when I worked bars on ships I used to dread people asking for a bloody mary ... it was always first thing of a morning and it used to make me heave putting it together

Good thing DH likes it as if any arrive on my plate as a garnish they immediately leap over onto his plate !!

it's funny, I love raw tomatos in salad or just sliced, tomato juice, tomato sauce, salsa, etc, but if I see one chunk of tomato in sauce or soup, I can't even look at it. Yuk. Chunky tomato sauce is so gross. I never order red sauce in a resteraunt, to risky.

5 months today we will be packed and leaving for the airport

WOW ... we will be flying 5 months tomorrow so I will probably still be working 5 months today unless I can wangle another day's annual leave. I usually like to get my hair done the day before we fly but this time I will have to do it the week prior as I wil be working Mon - Thurs if I stay in my current job.

This time in 5 months I will be exploring Barcelona!

I was going to say we'll probably be dropping our luggage and looking for breakfast or lunch, but with the time difference we'll probably be looking for dinner. With jet lag, though, we'll probably either be crashed out or ready to kill each other! That's the downside of being overgrown 5 year olds - we get crabby if we don't have our naps.



Tomatoes? LOVE 'EM in all forms - except tomato juice. When I was a kid, my parents always had a garden in the backyard with cherry tomatoes and those little yellow pear-shaped tomatoes. I'd go out there and eat them right off the vines. Yum-o! All you tomato-haters can pass yours to me.

Now bell peppers are another story. For some reason, those absolutely do not agree with me. The results aren't pretty.

DH's surgery was successful. We should be leaving the hospital soon. Mel, I'd be game to join you for a Palo brunch (yummy) as I too am traveling as a single mom with my DS...hubby is staying home.

To the 22 year old gentleman traveling by himself...come along and have a great time with us! We are quite the range of ages and I have yet to meet someone here who isn't welcoming!

Just think...I'll be in Paris 5 months from now getting ready for the next leg of the trip to Barcelona and then on to the ship! If I'd had more than 5 hours of sleep in 3 days, I'd be game to dance....right now, I think I'd just fall on the ground if I tried.....

Thanks to all for the kind wishes for my husband. Now....surviving a whiny husband at home for the next month....hmmmm....hoping that the drugs make him sleep!

Horrible, scary things!!!!??? OMG, you make me . Good grief, people! A perfectly ripe, fresh garden tomato is a wonderful thing ! Add a simple vinagrette...yum!

But thanks for making DH feel more normal . I'm always telling him how strange his tomato-eating habits are. Now I'm the one who's starting to feel like the odd man out . (But I really don't care for them stewed or juiced, either...to each his/her own).

Funny thing is, my DH loved the high tea more than I did; for me, it felt too quiet and "stiff". Now that I know what to expect, however, our next time will probably be more enjoyable. The scones were excellent IMO (memorable, even) although other people on these boards will say otherwise. DH says the white tea was the best he's ever had, so we will definitely be doing it again, just for him (oh, how I suffer for my family!) Everything will be new for our DD (first DCL cruise), so we'll be doing tea, brunch, and dinner at Palo. I loved the seafood at brunch, he loved the dinner experience more. But the 4pm tea time did make it difficult to eat a full meal two hours later (of course, we managed!)

I thought I'd say hello because I'm seriously considering booking a cabin for myself for this trip if the price comes down like the may trip did. I'm graduating from college this semester, finishing student teaching and might just become addicted to cruising after I go on NCL in may... I'm a huge disney fanatic (hopefully i'll be working in WDW within the year) and can't imagine a better experience than going to on my first DCL Europe to FL transatlantic trip! I'd be doing this on my own as a solo travel. I've read some of the solo traveler experiences, but there doesn't seem to be many 22 year old males reviewing their solo experience... can't help enjoying the inner child! Thoughts? Is this something I would be welcomed into? This forum seems to be really nice, i have to say! Any advice?

I say GO FOR IT!

I first bit bitten by the Disney Travel bug when I was 18, although I've been a Disney fan all of my life, and have to say the Internet certainly makes life for a Disney fan a much more enjoyable one.

You can visit forums like this and get to know some of the folks you're going to be traveling long before you set off on your trip, As a single traveler I think that takes much of the nervousness out of your first few days, all the folks here are likely to be wearing their DIS-WBTA lanyards, so that's an instant indicator of " hey come over and chat to us!"

Also the way Disney cruise organises dining is perfect for a single person, you meet your table mates on the first night of your cruise, be sure to link dine and then you get too be sat with fun loving DISers like yourself, and then for the next 2 weeks you end up moving dining rooms but taking your table mates with you! So it makes dining such a comfortable and relaxed experience.

On last years WBTW there were at least a couple of single guys that I can remember, and they both had a great time, being able to join in all the fun stuff the DIS ers here are organising means it's like hoildaying with group of friends.
