I have been on three Disney cruises with my Mom and my niece as travelmates. On the first cruise we asked to have the bed split into two twins and it was done cheerfully.
On the 2nd cruise we asked again and the room steward told us it couldn't be done. I asked if they had gotten new beds since it was done the previous year? He looked away and said okay. When we came back from dinner it was split - no bedspreads. We left a note asking for ice each day and never got any ice either. I don't think he liked us!
The next cruise I emailed the TA about requesting twins. When we got there no twins. I again asked the room steward and she told me they did not recommend it since it limited the walking space. I said we would live with the limited space, we wanted twins. She split the beds AND we had spreads. We also requested ice and she brought it twice each day. We tipped her extra!
What bothers me the most is that it seems to be about what works best for them, not what works best for the customer! I did not lower the tip for the room steward who lied to me, but if it happened again I would do so along with a note explaining why.
