Sensing Pixie Dust I Am! A Star Wars Weekend PTR! New PTR Link pg. 77!

I am hoping you guys are all fine by the Fb post. Just checking up on my Georgia weather girl. :goodvibes:hug:

I hear you all weathered the storm safely! Thank goodness!!!!
What's your countdown to the end of the year? Four weeks from today we are done!

Hi ya CP! Just wanted to come over and say howdy! And hope you enjoy watchin the RW tomorrow morning! I don't know that I can get up that early!

Hope to hear how things are, soon. I know you have been busy with the kids during spring break.

How is your beach planning coming along??!!

Hello there! I was behind (again) and just saw your update with Connor's artwork and the beach stuff. LOVE Connor's new art! I didn't realize there was so much vintage stuff out there at such great prices! I might have to steal this sort of theme for H's room as he gets older. :scratchin

Also...love the beach book pile. I'm ITCHIN' to go to the beach. I was in CVS today browsing the soft-sided coolers dreaming of having that on the beach full of sandwiches and drinks. Soon, soon!

As I mentioned on Facebook, love Chelsea's dress. She looks beautiful! Please post pics of her when she gets all dolled up for the dance!

I think I might have missed the announcement about Chelsea having a doctor appointment? Sounds like it might be something serious...I hope it's all okay!

I sure wish we still had ISS. It is so badly needed for some of our kids. Going home is a treat, so they enjoy being suspended. ISS is not fun. We had money to fund an ISS person (not a teacher, but a sub, so sub pay) for a couple of years, and it was a very good thing.

I agree -- many of the kids would prefer to go home. We have a parapro in our ISS room who runs it like something out of the military. :thumbsup2

Our system has a uniform dress code - solid dark or khaki pants or shorts and solid-colored polos. I won't say everyone follows it exactly, but it definitely helps.

I wish we had that! I think it would make things so much easier.

Hope you guys have a nice Easter Sunday! :)

We did! It was a nice start to an otherwise crazy week (which we had no way of knowing at the time).

Thoughts and prayers with you tomorrow.

I hope everything goes well at the doctor tomorrow. I will be saying prayers.

Will be thinking of you guys tomorrow as you visit the doctor! I hope he/she is able to give you the answers you are looking for and some comfort to Chelsea!! Will be saying prayers!

I will be praying for you at the Dr's tomorrow. I had really bad growing pains when I was a kid so I know how painful they can be.

I hope everything goes well tomorrow.

Thinking of Chelsea today, hope all the news is good!

Good Luck today! pixiedust:

Thank you, everyone! I will do a quick update on the doctor's appointment this morning along with a few other things.

Finally catching up! Please do not close this thread. I love to read it even if I do not get to comment that often.
I love Chelsea's dress! It is adorable. I had the same problem in high school with being teeny tiny. I wore Jessica McClintock also.
I love Connor's pictures! I ordered a ton of Disney prints from art.com and framed them with cheap black frames for our playroom. They are adorable.
I hope all goes well at the doctor today!

I really should close the thread, but, as you can see, I am having a hard time letting go. LOL! We all love Chelsea's dress. We will have to get shoes this weekend for it. Also, Hobby Lobby finally has their frames on sale, so I will be stopping there to pick some up for the prints. :thumbsup2

Thinking of Chelsea today. I hope the doctor visit goes well.

Thank you! Getting ready to update.

Wondering how the doctors appt. went. Hope everything is ok.

Hey Jackie!
Just wondering how things went at Chelsea's appointment.
When you have a moment please update....:flower3:

Yes, please. ;)

I hope everything went well.

Thank you! I am getting ready to update. I never planned to wait this long!

I haven't posted on your thread since early January so bare with me as I try to catch up...

Your ADRs look exciting, I've always wanted to eat at GF Cafe.

In my two years of living in a snowy climate I have never heard thunder snow, it would probably freak me out too.

I like Chelsea's essentials kit, Nutella is a nice touch

Thank you for the Star Wars Primer because I definitely wasn't a Star Wars expert.

Chelsea's chocolate meringue pie looks delicious.

I always like hearing about your trip binder, I hope one day I get to plan one out.

Lots of fun Dis Meets

aww, sorry to hear that you had to cancel your Disney trip. I feel silly for even posting my catch-up post but I look forward to seeing your pictures on FB.

Chelsea's dress is very cute, love the flower.

How did Chelsea's doctor appointment go?

Hi!!! Thanks for coming over here and catching up! Connor and I are probably the ones most disappointed about not having a Disney trip this summer, but we are looking forward to the beach. Needless to say, my wheels have been turning about the next trip. ;)

Thinking about you this morning Jackie. Seeing all the tornadoes in the South is so scary. I hope everything is ok with you.

Wondering about you all too, hope all is well.

I am hoping you guys are all fine by the Fb post. Just checking up on my Georgia weather girl. :goodvibes:hug:

I hear you all weathered the storm safely! Thank goodness!!!!
What's your countdown to the end of the year? Four weeks from today we are done!

Thanks, everyone! It has been horrible here, but we are all safe. I will include that in this morning's update as well.

Wigd, three weeks for us! Although, we missed two school days this week, so I am not sure if they will have us make that up or not.

Hi ya CP! Just wanted to come over and say howdy! And hope you enjoy watchin the RW tomorrow morning! I don't know that I can get up that early!

Hi, Happydog! I had a hard time falling asleep Thursday night but seemed to have no problem getting up at 4:00 yesterday. By the end of the day, my eyeballs were completely dry for having had so little sleep over the past two nights. LOL!

Hope to hear how things are, soon. I know you have been busy with the kids during spring break.

Getting to ready to update about this past week. Who knew the week was going to be as crazy as it ended up being.

How is your beach planning coming along??!!

Slowly. I need to get organized on that since it is exactly a month away now.

Hello there! I was behind (again) and just saw your update with Connor's artwork and the beach stuff. LOVE Connor's new art! I didn't realize there was so much vintage stuff out there at such great prices! I might have to steal this sort of theme for H's room as he gets older. :scratchin

Hi, Brook! It has been fun scouring about the internet for vintage Disney. I love it!

Also...love the beach book pile. I'm ITCHIN' to go to the beach. I was in CVS today browsing the soft-sided coolers dreaming of having that on the beach full of sandwiches and drinks. Soon, soon!

I know what you mean! I am so ready to go! :thumbsup2

As I mentioned on Facebook, love Chelsea's dress. She looks beautiful! Please post pics of her when she gets all dolled up for the dance!

I definitely will! The dance is next Saturday. We need to get shoes this weekend, and she has a hair appointment on the day of the dance.

I think I might have missed the announcement about Chelsea having a doctor appointment? Sounds like it might be something serious...I hope it's all okay!

Scoliosis. I will add more details in the update. :goodvibes

A quick update about what’s been going on in our little corner of Northwest Georgia…

Looking back, it’s hard to believe what all has happened in just the span of a week. I can’t believe Easter was just a week ago because it feels much longer…

Sunday: Easter. Chelsea was up at 6:00 to see what the Easter Bunny had brought. She may like to think she is all grown-up, but there is still a lot of little girl in her. The kids’ baskets were filled with candy; Connor got the new Kingdom Keepers book (which he has already finished) and Legos. Chelsea got a new beach towel and some emery boards. The Easter Bunny also brought Peeps and Tangled for the whole family. What a darling movie! We were laughing pretty hard since I swear I have said about 75% of what “Mother” said to Rapunzel. I can’t count the number of times I have said to Chelsea, “Stop mumbling. I hate when you mumble.” LOL! No pictures of us on Easter morning -- we all look a little dishelved first thing in the morning.

Monday: Chelsea’s doctor’s appointment. Sorry, I left everyone hanging on the outcome of that for so long. I didn’t really mean to do so. Anyway, the orthopedic doctor called Chelsea’s knee pain something like patella-femur something or other. Apparently it is a condition some women get, and there is really nothing to do about it except take advil and try not keep her legs straight. As far as the scoliosis goes, Chelsea has a 22 degree curve and an 18 degree curve. She just wants to keep an eye on it for now -- no bracing or anything -- and we will go back in four months for a recheck. The doctor seemed pretty optimistic that it wouldn’t get worse since Chelsea’s growth plates are pretty mature for her age which means the majority of her growing is finished. I guess she is going to be short like her mother.

Tuesday: Normal school day.

Wednesday: Ah, Wednesday…where to begin? We live on the edge of what is called Dixie Alley, and spring is always a bit of a nail biter where tornadoes are concerned. All of my trusted weather sources were calling for a pretty bad outbreak of storms on Wednesday, so I was keeping a pretty close eye on things. All after-school activities were canceled, and we scurried home as quickly as possible. By the time I was home, things were looking really bad in Alabama, and it was predicted that it was going to be a PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) in NW Georgia as well. I texted with Jill and MeMom while the storms began rolling into Huntsville (I am so glad Jill and her girls are okay) and was getting rather nervous about where all the storms were headed. Charles and I watched that horrific storm roll through Tuscaloosa and Birmingham and turn towards us. When I saw the footage Jeff Morrow was getting of the tornado north of Birmingham, it looked like something out of a movie. That was pretty much the point when I said to Charles, “If it is coming in our direction, I am out of here.” About 8:00 the county next to us went to a tornado warning, and we were on our way to my SIL’s -- she has a basement. What a terrifying experience…right about the time that Glenn Burns (our local weatherman) was saying, “There are twin rotating cells in this storm,” and saying it was almost on top of us, the power went out. Ughhh. I can now say that sitting in a basement with no idea of what is going on outside is one of the worst feelings. Thank goodness for our friends and family who kept us abreast of everything with their texts. You know it was bad when my dad (who is a big weather freak) called to make sure we were at Michelle’s. He usually scoffs at my weather neuroses, and the only other time he has called in a bad storm to check where we were was when there was a tornado ¼ mile from where we were. We got home about 1:00 in the morning, and by 1:30 school had been canceled. We had not lost power at our house which was good.

Thursday: The Aftermath. My SIL was still without power on Thursday, so they came over to hang out with us. The devastation in Alabama is just gut-wrenching. It’s hard to even wrap my mind around it -- just heartbreaking. By afternoon after hearing from a couple of people that the tornado had passed very close to us, we decided to head out and see just how close it was. Theses pictures were all taken right near our subdivisions (my SIL lives in the neighborhood right next to ours).

This was a barn.

007-15.jpg

We did not get close to the worst of the devastation (which has been coded as two separate tornadoes -- one an EF3 and the other an EF2 -- we had three separate tornado warnings Wednesday night), but here is an aerial shot of a subdivision that probably looked just like ours a few miles away.

BartowTornadoDamage.jpg

There is nothing there now…

The destruction is pretty widespread and our superintendent canceled school for Friday as well saying there were still widespread power outages and many families in need. By a miracle no one was killed in our county.

Friday: The Royal Wedding. I am a big believer in escapism, so I was in desperate need of a fairytale wedding for a few hours after all the South has been through the last couple of days. We were up bright and early to watch Kate marry her prince. What a lovely wedding, and we were quite content to shovel petite fours into our faces at 6:00 in the morning. (We were up at 4:00 am.) Chelsea was quite pleased to see David Beckham, but I think she became partial to Prince Harry by the end of it. I know I love seeing his little grin full of mischief.

So, that’s been our week. I do hope next week is a bit calmer. ;)

You did have a busy week!!

It sounds like the news on Chelsea's scoliosis wasn't terrible, keeping an eye on things sure sounds better than getting a brace - I'm sure it did to Chelsea too! Did the doctor say if her knee pain would go away once she was completely done growing or it something she's just going to have to live with?

I'm so glad you all escaped from those storms with no harm to you or damage to your home! It has been just an awful spring, and with 2 more months of tornado season still ahead of us too! My heart goes out to all of those across the south who lost their loved ones.

I didn't get up early to watch the Royal wedding, I figured I'd see everything 100 times over the next week anyway, BUT if I had had those petite fours waiting for me I probably could've been persuaded to crawl out of bed

Chelsea was very relieved. She was really worried that she would have to get a brace. Afterwards, I told her if she had had to get one, she would have had to wear it on the beach with her bikini over it. She did not find me amusing.

Me too! It has been heartbreaking hearing about the loss of life and property across the South. I can't imagine having to pick up the pieces of your home and possessions strewn about like that. :sad2: They were showing on the news how people's clothes were even blown into the trees. I turned to my family and said, "That's it -- I am getting all new underthings now because if, God forbid, this ever happens to us, I do not want to have to claim any ratty underwear hanging from tree branches." Yes, I am a freak.

Oh, yes, they have been replaying all of the wedding over and over. I am pretty much on Royal Wedding overload. I had to laugh when I heard that Will and Kate were going to live in a five-room cottage with no live-in help. It may sound like fun to vacuum your own rugs and cook dinner every night when you are first married, but my guess is that novelty will wear off soon. I am sorry, but if I am a princess I do not want to have to make Toad in the Hole and load the dishwasher. There have got to be some perks to the job. LOL!

Oh my goodness Jackie, your week!
So relieved for your news on Chelsea. Bikini over the brace would have been a tad awkward.

I heard on the Barbara Walter's special last night that they will have "help" at their home in Wales, but not very much. So many conflicting reports.
I just can't imagine that they won't.

I can't believe you only have three weeks left of school. What's the date of your last day? We have a half day on the 26th and then we work until 3:25.

Wishing you a relaxing week my friend....

Wow, you've had a lot going on.

I'm happy to hear everything is okay with Chelsea healthwise and that they'll be keeping an eye on things for the future.

I can't believe some of the devastation from the storms down your way. It makes me so sad for the people who have been affected.

I thought of you when I watched the royal wedding. I didn't get to see all of it, but I watched Kate walk down the aisle and saw both their kisses on the balcony. Very sweet. I thought she looked stunning, and I felt a lot of romanticism and fairy tale quality to watching that wedding. Just beautiful!

Glad to hear Chelsea's appointment turned out ok. If she ever has to get a brace and needs someone to talk to about it let me know. I wore one from the time I was 8 until I turned 18. I don't remember what degree my curve is, but I know when I looked at the x-ray's my spine looks a lot like an S. Since she is almost done growing, I bet she will luck out and not have to wear one.

The damage in those storm pictures were just devastating!

I didn't watch much of the wedding, but I did have it on as I was getting dressed for school. So sweet! I just had to contend with DH making snide comments the whole time! :headache:

I would not have either!! Do you remember the Judy Blume book Deenie! It immediately came to mind when you told us about Chelsea. I'm glad no brace at least for now!!

Yes, I am a freak.
LOL!! :lmao:I think I need some new underthings too! Our tornado season is usually more May and June, so just in case, I better go shopping!
I'm so glad you are all okay. It's been just awful watching the news lately.

LOL again!!
I was up early with the dog and the girls watching too. :bride: It was really nice to see something fun and happy and romantic. I couldn't help tearing up when some commentator commmented (duh) about seeing Harry and William getting to the church and their mother not being there. That made me sad. But it was such a contrast to their mother's wedding. Here I could see the happiness in both of their faces. It sure wasn't like that at Charles and Di's wedding.

I hope next week goes smoothly, you find great shoes for Chelsea and she has an awesome time at the dance. Is this a "date" thing, or does just everyone go?

I'm so glad that your family is safe Jackie! We don't have a basement either so have to go to my mom's when we have tornado warnings. It sure is scary. I bet you're glad that's over!

Good news on Chelsea's appointment! I was wondering how that was going. I hope it's something that just corrects itself as she gets older.

Happy Saturday! :)

No pictures of us on Easter morning -- we all look a little dishelved first thing in the morning.

I have downloaded the new Kingdom Keeper book on my e-reader, but have not read it yet.

Monday: Chelsea’s doctor’s appointment. Sorry, I left everyone hanging on the outcome of that for so long. I didn’t really mean to do so. Anyway, the orthopedic doctor called Chelsea’s knee pain something like patella-femur something or other. I guess she is going to be short like her mother.

It is good to hear the Dr. went OK. I will continue to pray the curve improves or at least stabilizes. Short is OK, until you need something on the top shelf. Sometimes if the lunchroom ladies does not look up you get charged a student rate at lunch.

DH, the cats, and I were also in the basement. We were lucky everything went north of us. I have a cousin in Rome that is still without power. They was only slight roof damage to their house, but he had two storage buildings away from the house that was flatened.

Thursday: The Aftermath. My SIL was still without power on Thursday, so they came over to hang out with us. The devastation in Alabama is just gut-wrenching. It’s hard to even wrap my mind around it -- just heartbreaking. Will you have school on Monday?

Friday: The Royal Wedding. I am a big believer in escapism, so I was in desperate need of a fairytale wedding for a few hours after all the South has been through the last couple of days. I was up by 5:00 on Friday morning. The wedding was beautiful. Kate makes you believe in Snow White and Cinderella. Just think she has come out against bullies, because she was bullied in school.

One of my favorite parts was the video after the morning reception of them riding off in the car with the just married tag.

So, that’s been our week. I do hope next week is a bit calmer. ;)

Wishing you a normal week next week.

Chelsea’s knee pain something like patella-femur something or other.

Patella Femural stress syndrome???? If so That is me too. Also called runners Knee. As for not being able to do anything about it, I have gone from Doctor to Doctor since I was younger that Chelsea and I have helped myself more that they have. :sad2:

For exercise, I have started taping my knees and it has helped tremendously. The Dr will probably want you to strengthen the muscles but I have found if you don't tape the kneecap to ride the correct track to avoid the pain it does not help. since I have been taping and running, I think the muscles are now able to pull it in the right track better and it much less painful. It is common in women due to the hip width vs. the knee and foot angles.

I have found KT tape and it is better than regular athletic tape and it comes with instructions. I think with some care and learning how her kneecap tracks and overcoming the physics of her body she can be fine with minimal or no pain.

Definitely been a busy week for you! So glad that the news from the Dr. was positive.

I didn't get up early to see the Royal Wedding but I did catch some of it before having to leave for work. Clay got up while I was watching and watched it with me. I think he continued to watch it after I left. I had to leave before the kiss(es) but caught a video of it when I got to work. I couldn't help but say "awwww" after the kiss and saw William was blushing. They are such a cute couple and I so hope that they will have a happily ever after.

CNN was running some of the highlights last night so I got to see everything I missed. Hannah watched it too and afterwards she was walking around with a blanket wrapped around her waist and walking slowly around the living room. When I asked her what she was doing she said "This is my train. I'm a princess." She was doing it all morning too.

Did you guys have a pretty day today? Our last two days have been beautiful. I am so glad that all of you guys in GA made it through okay. There are people who will not be able to get their normal lives back for months to come. We've sure had wild weather this year. Let's hope the summer is just normal. :cool2:
