We have VGC points that we will eventually be selling. We have a trip booked this year using the points in December and borrowing a few from next year. At what point can we sell the points? Do we need to wait until after we travel to close on a sale?

You can list it with the disclaimer that it can't close until after your Dec trip. I see it in the listings all the time. You may not attract many buyers and may get lowball offers. I will be booking a trip for end of January for my inlaws and I too am interested in selling those points (OKW). I was thinking of listing in October with the disclaimer that we can't close until Feb 1. It takes 2 months to do a resale anyway, so maybe it will sit for a month or so and then we'll get a bite.

Any outstanding reservations are cancelled when a contract changes owners. So if you close on the sale before your trip, DVC will cancel your reservation when they transfer ownership to the buyer.

I believe reservations can stay in place through closing if you own Aulani. I'm not sure it it only applies to reservations at Aulani or at all properties.

yes, cannot close until travel is completed.
I believe one can close once the trip has started since points are counted as used day 1. I don't believe they'll cancel pending reservations until the final transfer process.
