Segways completely gone?

I know all the segway tours were cancelled some time ago but on a recent trip we noticed that we also no longer saw any WDW staff on a segway? Maybe we just happened not to see anyone on one but I can't help but wonder if segways are gone completely even for their staff?

My husband and I took the Segway tour in Feb. at Fort Wilderness. The one at Epcot is no longer held which was kind of a bummer since we were staying at the BWI and it would have been a lot easier to get to that one. They are a whole lot of fun.

How was the tour at FW? My husband and I are considering doing it in December :).

See that you do. I intend to be there with as many Christmas decorations as they will let me put up on one site.

I was there last in October and the parking lot CM's at Epcot were no longer using them at all. The tour start location inside Innoventions was a blank area with nothing in the space.

I'm so glad both my mom and I had the chance a few years ago.

I am not sure of the total reason behind the disappearance but if anyone has the scoop I'd like to know. Is it related to the ironic death of the inventor (killed by Segway accident) or to the lawsuit for persons with disabilities using them freely in the parks?

I think I read that it was because they were opening more of WS earlier and they didn't want the segway riders near any non riding guests.

My DH and I have done this two or three times. It is more fun than the Epcot tour, in our opinion. You still receive the same instruction at the beginning, but you are on Segways that are for off-road so they have wider tires. You run through FW and then both paved and dirt paths over to WL and along the lake. It is a beautiful tour through the wilderness. Tour guides may play trivia games along the way, or tell interesting facts about FW. You wear those nice little headsets so you can hear them. Highly recommend it! :thumbsup2
