Have taken these tours before but now when we wanted to book one where are they?:yay:

The EPCOT tour will likely never come back now that the world showcase is open to guests early in the morning. Too risky. :rotfl2:

The one in ecpot was so nice. Wonder if anyone got hurt that is why it closed?
It was very poplar.:confused3:cutie::confused3

I recall people complaining about drunk segwayers... a few idiots probably ruined the fun. Or the liability insurance got too expensive

I thought the rumors were that the Segway tour in Epcot closed because of the lawsuit. It was never specifically mentioned but it went away when the lawsuit was filed and was never brought back. The lawsuit by persons seeking to ride Segways in the Disney parks due to walking limitations.

This is what I heard as well.

We did the Fort Wildnerness one last October and it was a lot of fun. Someone on that tour asked why the Epcot one was discontinued. According to our guide it was only because of the expansion of the Character Spot. That building was used for the storage of the Segways and also training for the tour. There was just no other place to move them to when they made the Character spot bigger.

If anyone is interested in a review of the FW Tour, I wrote about it in the "Rock on! Because Devil Horns Do Belong at Disney" TR that is listed in my signature.

One of our best memories as a family was on the Segway tour at Epcot, I'm very sad to hear that it is gone. DS practically counted the days until he was old enough to go on that tour and we had such a great time.

The spot where they use to train is now closed but nothing has replace the space. Shame it was fun. Wonder if someone got hurt?

That could be it. My understanding is that Disney banned Segways owned by guests from its parks for safety reasons (the safety of other guests), and maybe Disney thought it would be difficult legally to ban from its parks Segways owned by guests if Disney was using its own Segways for tours in Epcot.

That's what I remember hearing too.

This would seem logical. Too bad. :sad1:

When we did the Segway tour in Feb. at FW I asked about the Epcot tour and our guides said it was just getting to crowded and dangerous. France is now open in the morning and they do rent out other "countries" in the morning for weddings. Add in the people using the international gateway and I can understand their point. After having ridden them I can not imagine someone who has leg problems using them as a walking assistance. I'm a dairy farmer, walk all the time and my legs were complaining loudly after our tour. I could certainly see them being very dangerous in even a small crowd of people. They sure were a lot of fun though!
