Mary (flitter), Patti (NorwegianMickey) and I took the Segway tour this past Friday. It is a must do!! I was a little amprehensive since my knees have been giving me a lot of trouble these past few months and I have trouble standing for any length of time, but they were okay. It was my feet that were killing me since I kept tensing up.

You start in one of the Innoventions bldgs and they have you go through an obstacle course and get you comfortable with the machine. You then head out into the park (following the CM like ducks in a row) until you hit the World Showcase. Then you can move around more (but don't pass the lead CM cause you get yelled at). They take you to very tight narrow areas but the Segway is very easy to maneuver (example you maneuver around the gardens of Japan and China).

Tour lasts about three hours and is so much fun we are going to do it again. It is limited to 10 per class and there is a 250 lb. weight limit. Cost is 80.00 but if you are a CM, annual passholder or DVC member you get a discount.

And, at the end you get a PIN! They just started giving out the pins about a week ago.

Any picture of the pin? Sandy and I might do this tour...

Nat,

I had ti posted on Dizpins a few nights ago. I took the tour on the first day they offered the pin, April 23. Needless to day I was VERY excited!!!

We took the Segway tour on Tuesday, May 4th. My DW was a little apprehensive, but in the end, she loved it! One of her best things from this trip and she wants to do it again.

Later that evening, we met a cast member familiar with the tour, and wife mentioned that "it's a must do for our next trip". He got a concerned look on his face and said, "It might not be around much longer... liability issues..."

I've heard that the tour is sold out for May, and on Wednesday, May 5th, there were eleven riders (one was a rep from Segway). I would think that is proof enough that the tour is a hit. I asked how they were advertising the tour, and the reply was "just word of mouth".

Even though you sign a waiver before the tour, the threat of a law suit may bring an end to a very neat experience that is unique and a lot of fun.

Book your tour now and cross your fingers...

It would be a shame if the cancelled this tour but I understand about the liability issues. We had a woman run into a pillar (she admitted it was her own fault) and I just read a post where someone fell (she hit the edge of a curb and fell sideways).

It was interesting navigating the paths of Japan, China & America but it would have been just as much fun tooling around the main walkway of World Showcase.

May have to book a trip before October to get another session in!

Do they actually weigh you?? I would love for my DH to do that, but he is a little over 250...he might can loose down to that by October, but I'm not sure....

They don't weigh you. We had a guy in our class that could have been over the lb. limit. It's the manufacturer's rule not Disney's.
I would think if your husband was 5 or 10 lbs. over it would be okay.

Hopefullysomeone who has more knowledge on this will post too.
