I'm trying to help out a friend who's had some credit problems, which resulted in filing for bankruptcy about a year ago. She'd like to start rebuilding her credit with a secured credit card, but searching for one on the internet is very difficult. There are so many scams and fly-by-nights, we're having trouble finding reputable companies. Can anyone help us to find a good secured credit card that won't rip her off?

A couple of years ago I did not have anycredit, I needed to get some credit, so that I can purchase my first car. I went through Capital One & Orchard Bank. I did not need a secure card. I just started off with a credit limit of $500 and built it up. I have since gotten rid of both cards. I used them for what I needed within a one year time frame and cut them both up. I would try both of these companies and see what she can do.

Try a local Credit Union, many offer unsecured card at very fair rates.

ask her to check out creditnet.com and creditboards.com.

Thanks everyone for your tips. I just found a good one through Bank of America that doesn't bombard the cardholder with unnecessary fees. :D
