Ah.....the sweet seats.....apparently at the 3D dessert party, there are the "regular people" who pay less, get in, get desserts and beverages and get to listen to the music with no assigned tables to enjoy their food. Then there are the "sweet seats people" who get in 15 minutes early, get tables up front by the band, get an extra dessert and special cocktail and I think also an extra savory dish. So you can see why we want those sweet seats! :cheer2:

Well, welcome to our little thread! :welcome:

skater and I were both up at 0-dark-thirty to start dialing and try to book our events for Food and Wine.

skater must have dialed like a boss (to quote my DS) because even though I started dialing at 6:58, she beat me into the queue and only had a 25 minute wait while I had a 30 minute wait! :cool1:

Unfortunately, according to the CM skater had, Disney visa bookings opened yesterday--not today as advertised! :mad:and all the sweet seats were sold out. :worried::sad1: So she had to book the regular old seats. :sad2:

We were able to book all our other events though. :thumbsup2

Cake :cake: boy for me (woot!)
The Magic Kingdom bakery lady Christina Frommling for both of us
Parisian breakfast at Chefs de France for both of us
and 3D Disney Dessert Discovery party.

At least it was significantly less money. We'll just have to drown our sorrows one way or another......:drinking1:cake:

What the what? I thought the Disney Visa booking was today too! And general public tomorrow. Again, I say what? I'm not booking anything but I feel miffed on your behalf! (I'd use stronger language but don't want to scare anyone!) :)

ok going to write down the names of those events for future use....just in case :cool1: by next year I might be the one all nuts about the F&W instead of Raina.:lovestruc

Thanks for feeling miffed on our behalf! skater tried twice more on the 13th to get us sweet seats but no luck. She gave it a good old college try. (She's such a good egg. )Apparently they didn't release all the sweet seats on the 12th but people were told that they did so they felt like they had to book whatever was available--not just for our event either--for other events too. Some people were able to call the next day and get upgraded to the reserved seats.

We'll have to give you all the details later. There are so many really cool events. Some fo them you can do the "day of" such as tastings. Can't wait to find out more about that!

Only 70 more days until our trip! And today it's all I can do to not hop on a plane and run away to Disney.

It's good that skater has a return ticket because I'm not sure I could get her to come home. We are both feeling the need for some time away.

Yay!! :cheer2:Lunch and plotting....I mean planning session with skater today!! Just got off the phone and we are meeting for lunch. Good bye office! Good bye paperwork!

Best news I've had all week!

You remember the schedule right? Back a few pages.

We have a few hours one evening...Sunday evening when Epcot will be pretty crowded because it's the weekend at F&W....but today we started thinking MAYBE we MIGHT do this:

It's early Sunday morning.....the kids are still sleeping.....the cats are crunching breakfast and the dog is curled up at my feet. My favorite time of day. Until tomorrow. *sigh*. Tomorrow the kids go back to school. I'm ready for us to be in a routine again but I hate how fast summer went this year. Stupid BOE making school start so darn early. When I am emperor of the world, school will start AFTER Labor Day and end BEFORE Memorial Day.

Last year the two weeks before school my son was so grumpy but this year I think he's actually looking forward to it. I think he may have grown up a bit this summer. :scared1: He has been so sweet and loving the last few days.

DH and I are going on a dinner cruise this afternoon/evening with a group from his high school graduating class. We "get" to ride the bus (a school bus) down to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore with 50 of his classmates. I am looking forward to the dinner, but the bus ride....not so much. :rolleyes1

The best part of our weekend was on Friday. The kids had doctors appointments in the morning and then DH took us all out to lunch and then we drove up to Thurmont to look at some horses. The owner is moving to TN and can't take all of them with her and contacted my DH to ask if we might be interested in taking them. Oh my gosh. They were gorgeous, gentle, sweet, well-trained boys. :cloud9: I have wanted--no--LONGED for--a horse since I was a little girl. And I was shocked that DH seemed so amenable to taking them. Whenever I've brought it up before he's been reluctant. He owned and showed horses before--I think he had 8 at one time but that was long before I was in the picture. I have been so emotional all weekend every time I think about them. I just want to go up there again and be with them. We all took turns riding each of them--except DS didn't ride the younger more energetic one. DD was a natural! And the older one was a dream. I could have ridden him all afternoon. I wish I had photos to post, but I was so INTO just enjoying the moment that I even left my camera in the car. It's been a long time since I was able to really be like that.

Honestly it seemed like a gift from God that we got to do this. I have been so emotionally torn up dealing with the ex about the wedding. She's been so awful and nasty to us and pretty much tried to kick us out of even being a part of the rehearsal. :sad2: I think it's making her really angry that both of my kids are in the wedding. It's a struggle to stay mature and not lash out in return. :headache: I think God knew that I needed a little joy in my life. :goodvibes

And I'm SO :dance3: excited about our trip--like every day I just wish I was THERE already that I'm thinking about paying off the trip early so that we can do online check in at 60 days. l

Well, time to take the dog out and get ready for church.

Oh....our shirts came yesterday!!! They look awesome except that I think the company I used is now using different shirts than when I used them before and the shirts used to run a big small so I ordered big....whoops! They may be a tad TOO large. They are in the dryer now so I'll see once they are done. ;)

Hurrah to all the joy in your life today - the trip is soon, a fun planning lunch, horses! a dinner cruise, horses! wonderful kids, horses! And yes to the MNSSHP! :goodvibes

Alysa, have you been to MNSSHP? The more I think about it, the more I want to go. I've read that the fireworks and parade are just the best. I love the fireworks at MK and the parade. AHHHHH!!!! I can't wait!

I can't stand it.....I'm paying off the trip!! I applied 3 gift cards and my Disney rewards $$ this morning and as soon as I pay off the balance on my Disney visa. I'm going to pay off the rest :cool1::thumbsup2:cheer2:pixiedust: Let the magic begin!

DH is calling the horse lady today. :upsidedow

I'm looking up how to build horse sheds on the internet. :upsidedow

Kids are at school. And the morning went relatively well. :upsidedow

YES!!!! The horse lady called! She was so excited! I am so excited! My DD will be so excited!

I don't have any photos of my new babies, but Copper looks a lot like this:

I can't wait until I have real pictures of them! DH even went out and started cutting down a few trees as we will clear a large area in our back yard for the corral and shelter. OH MY GOSH!!!

Hi Poppygirl,

I am so happy I found you message thread - we will be there the same time you are and I love reading about all of your plans! It makes the trip seem much more real (and closer!).

If you have a chance to go to the Halloween Party, I definitely recommend it! I've done it twice so far (and once for the Christmas party) and I think the Halloween Party is much better! We are also two adults - so we've done the party without kiddos and still think it is fantastic. I recommend dressing up - it will really add to the experience. They have some of the most elaborate costumes which is really a fun part of the evening - seeing how others have dressed up.

Shelly, welcome to our thread and welcome to the disboards! :wave2: I noticed it was your first post!! I'm waiting for skater to get back to me about the party. :surfweb: She's done it before but I have not.

When is your trip and where are you staying? Will you be doing F&W events as well?

Hi Poppygirl,

Thank you for the welcome! I'm more of a lurker than a poster but I had googled 3D dessert party because we are trying that for the first time and I came across your pre-trip reports and they are so enthusiastic and fun - all of the pre-planning sounds so like me and I would be very anxious to see who was looking at my post too - so I had to just jump in and respond :) Especially since I've actually had experience sans-kids with the Halloween Party.

We're going to be there from October 15-29th. I'm a DVC owner so we are jumping around a bit - we will be staying at POP, then Animal Kingdom Lodge, and then for the last week at Beach Club Villas.

We have done the F & W festival every year since 2002 except one year - it is my favorite time to visit WDW. We are also doing the dessert party on the same day you are - that is why I was googling that - I want to find out all about it BEFORE we get there so we aren't wasting time trying to get the lay of the land inside that we should be using getting the desserts. :rotfl: One has to have their priorities!

For our trip this time, it is myself, my sister-in-law, and my mother - no other people or children on this trip. We won't be doing the Halloween Party this year - but only because we decided to do more of the F&W seminars and especially the 3D Dessert Party! I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about the party - but I really think it is the best party that WDW throws - so fun!!

Shelly
