Secret Slushies and Secret Doors

Hi Poppygirl,

Thank you for the welcome! I'm more of a lurker than a poster but I had googled 3D dessert party because we are trying that for the first time and I came across your pre-trip reports and they are so enthusiastic and fun - all of the pre-planning sounds so like me and I would be very anxious to see who was looking at my post too - so I had to just jump in and respond :) Especially since I've actually had experience sans-kids with the Halloween Party.

We're going to be there from October 15-29th. I'm a DVC owner so we are jumping around a bit - we will be staying at POP, then Animal Kingdom Lodge, and then for the last week at Beach Club Villas.

We have done the F & W festival every year since 2002 except one year - it is my favorite time to visit WDW. We are also doing the dessert party on the same day you are - that is why I was googling that - I want to find out all about it BEFORE we get there so we aren't wasting time trying to get the lay of the land inside that we should be using getting the desserts. :rotfl: One has to have their priorities!

For our trip this time, it is myself, my sister-in-law, and my mother - no other people or children on this trip. We won't be doing the Halloween Party this year - but only because we decided to do more of the F&W seminars and especially the 3D Dessert Party! I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about the party - but I really think it is the best party that WDW throws - so fun!!

Shelly

First of all, I feel super priveleged that our little pre-trip plans brought you out of lurkdom!

So our trips overlap! And by the time you are at Beach Club, we will be at Yacht Club. :thumbsup2 Maybe we will see you at Stormalong Bay! And maybe at the 3D Dessert party too! That would be fun. We'll be the ones eating. :rolleyes1

That just reminded me of something totally random: When my son was little he couldn't say his "f" very well so we would say "whoo hoo mommy! that would be pun!" :rotfl2:

Hi sorry I have been MIA my daughter and gradbabies came for a few days we did a waterpark and the ren faire a few bbqs and they left last night.....whew tiring but so much fun.We even managed to get the epcot iron ons done and packed and she took all the Disney stuff with her because she is driving. So the house looks empty today with out the girls running around.....:sad1: The MNSSHP looks like a lot of fun.

I'm starting to think you might need to re-assess your priorities. As if your grandbabies take precedence over keeping up with our plans over here. :rolleyes1 Sheesh.
Seriously though, it sounds like fun!

Girl, people are going to start thinking that I'm making you up again. You are totally MIA. I'm going to have to start posting photos again.......

Calling skater where are you? Nope haven't seen her, but I know she's real she will return when she get's some time......:)

61 more days until our food and wine adventure! And I have been BUSY this morning!

  • paid off our trip
  • made tip envelopes
  • took photos of tip envelopes
  • got groupon for 1/2 price parking at the airport
  • did I mention I paid off the trip?!?!?
  • cleaned out my Disney packing room. (yes, I have a Disney packing room. All the suitcases are in there along with clothes I'm setting aside for Disney and stuff I only pack when I'm going to Disney.)

Yay me! :cheer2:

Tomorrow is online check in day for our AoA one night room only reservation. I wanted to get everything paid off so that we could do online check in tomorrow. pixiedust:

skater and I still haven't had a chance to talk more about the Halloween party. However she had some good Disney news this week too....but I'm going to let her share that.....IF she ever posts on here again. :rotfl:

DH has been super busy clearing out the corral area for the horses. He sent the check this week. :cloud9:

First day of school for the kids. My son's photos crack me up because he thought it was so lame to take first day of school photos.

wow, those envelopes are awesome!!!!

a room for Disney packing? how do I get one of those? I need it desperately!!!!
:lmao:

Thanks! I tried to theme them for our stay at Yacht Club. I guess I could have done one of them in Little Mermaid since we'll be there our first night. :) I made them with my cricut.

Let's see.....yes....the Disney packing room. How did that come about? Ah yes....

First we were going on our "once in a lifetime" trip in 2007. (bahahahahaha :rotfl:) and I pretty much just had suitcases that I started putting our stuff in as we got ready.

After we returned from that trip, we had pins and lanyards and ponchos and back packs and even a fanny pack (don't judge me)--things that we would pretty much only pack when we were going to Disney so I had to find a place to store all of it. We had somehow obtained 2 of those white wardrobe closets and I put one in my guest room and started using it for Disney stuff.
Then we decided to go on a cruise (oh wow....that whole story of how we started with a 4 day cruise and ended up with a 10 day vacation--for a DAIRY FARMER--that's one for the books....but I digress) and I started purchasing a few items for the cruise--clothes that I got on the end of the season clearance and I made a fish extender and got little gifts to give my kids each day--it started to pile up and my closet started to overflow into the guest room.

By the time we got back from the cruise I started to realize that there were certain things that I didn't want to have to hunt for when I was packing for Disney--like dryer sheets and very large ziplock bags and medium ziplock bags and small ziplock bags....and all our pins and lanyards and ponchos and mouse ears. A bag of disposable silverware and bowls for cereal as well as clippies for closing things up. It was all starting to be too much for the little closet. Plus after I went on my first "Disney with skater" trip I started bringing a pharmacy with me. Now I just keep a bag of stuff that we might need and throw it in when I pack.

About that time we had the invasion of the stinkbugs at our house. We would come home and find the ceiling in our bedroom literally covered with stinkbugs. The little cubby where we kept our suitcases wasn't sealed very well and there were so many stinkbugs in there that I couldn't stand it. I bought new suitcases. And there was no way I was putting them back in that cubby. :rolleyes1

So we had this addition upstairs on the back of the house, off of our master bedroom. Years ago we used it for DD's nursery. And then DH used it for collecting papers and dust (I have since banished THAT to the basement :headache:) so it was sort of just sitting there. Nice built in cupboards and drawers and plenty of room for new stinkbug-less suitcases. And all our Disney paraphnelia. :thumbsup2

I added a table to make sorting and packing easier, and one of those laundry hangers to make my Disney clothes less wrinkly. And then I put all my Disney princess dolls in there and some other little collectibles. Wa-la. pixiedust: Disney packing room.

So there you go....the evolution of a Disney packing room.
step one: go to Disney and collect stuff before and during your trip that you will use on subsequent trips
step two: go to Disney and collect MORE stuff that now you can't live without at Disney
step three: banish DH's junk to the basement back room
step four: take over former junk room and make it pretty with Disney stuff.

So...what is the strangest thing I keep in my DPR? (I guess since I've now posted this to the disboards it needs an abbreviation) I have a small traveling french press coffee pot.

That's a very good discussion question. What is the strangest thing YOU pack to take along with you to Disney?

Calling skater where are you? Nope haven't seen her, but I know she's real she will return when she get's some time......:)

:goodvibes Somehow I've become a lurker on my own pre-trip report :rotfl:. Things have been super crazy. I foster kittens for a rescue group and I have my hands full right now. I had one left from a former litter who was too small to go with her siblings. She was finally spayed yesterday and isn't feeling well or eating well. A week and a half ago, I picked up four kittens from Animal Control (they are inundated) from two separate litters. One of them has a septic stomach infected with two separate types of bacteria. He's on an antibiotic that is so potentially dangerous we have to wear gloves to administer it. And of course, its 3 times a day so we have to give an early morning and late night dose. I'm praying for him daily since the vet is "very worried" about him. And of course, I'm bonded with him already :sad1:. Then, early last week, one of my former fosters (adopted out in June) was returned due to a family emergency. She was put in PetSmart, but didn't do well there - throwing up, diarreah, and very stressed. So, I brought her home last night. She still has scary diarreah (sorry, can't spell this, too tired to look it upJ), and is way more skittish than my foster babies normally are (I'm not embarrassed to say that we are awesome foster parents :upsidedow). I also have two cats of my own (one on medicine) and a dog. Oh yeah, they all seem to have a cold and one of the other kittens is on amoxycillin. I'm in over my head, but hopefully only for a few weeks. The oldest kitten will probably be adopted by next weekend, and hopefully we'll have some resolution on the very sick one soon.

Guess I really need this Disney trip.

Oh yeah, and I work weekends in the pet stores and am doing lots of pet sitting this summer which is helping me to afford this trip ;).

I already have that(especially since we came back from mom's)

I can see this happening too

I'll pass on this part of the process....thanks:rotfl2:

we haven't been yet, but I think the room decorations are already getting a little out of hand, hahaha

Oh.....THAT explains it! Stop being such a lurker! (It really is a fun word to say, isn't it? Lurrrrker. Say it with me. Lurrrrrker.

we haven't been yet, but I think the room decorations are already getting a little out of hand, hahaha

So are you saying that you are already decorating even though you haven't been there yet? Girl, you are in TROUBLE!

She IS an awesome foster mom. And she's so good that she's even converting her husband. You should see the latest picture of him with the one kitten.....he's a goner!

I think I'm losing it a little bit.

If someone doesn't answer my question about tickets and magic bands that I have posted in like 37 different places I'm just going over the edge.....the edge of what I'm not sure.....:scared::crazy2:

not sure what your questions about the bands was but this is what I have heard about them.

quote: my friends had a problem with the wristband and it had to be rebooted (this was just the start of problems they encountered during the trip),

quote: ME ?? I have been leery of this since the get go, but a letter
with Pluto and Mickey looking so joyous All right boys if you're both THAT excited I'll give it a try !!

This is going to either be really really good or really really bad

I'll admit it, once I got to the website to " customize" my Magic Band I felt kind of giddy ( doesn't take much to make me happy ) Can you guess which color I picked Pink, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow or the " generic" battleship gray I'll bet you CAN guess

Before this arrived I had already done the on-line check in at AoA and after a simple phone call it was verified I could still be a test guinea pig at POP ( had decided to go there again for a few reasons) while on the phone with the CM and on the computer Mickey magic my on-line check-in magically changed to POP ! Right before my eyes..... the power of the mouse

So I will be going back to POP ( Aunt Mary doesn't care ) and I have
DDP ( first time EVER )

And that's all I know.....lol

Hey Poppy and Skater (may I call you that?)

I don't make it over to PTR land very much- too busy over on the regular trip report and resorts forum- but I found you this morning, clicked, and I'm hooked!

Great story(ies), plans friendships and drama :scared1:

Love the beach picture from Texas! Gorgeous!

I'm in.

OK, I tried again...I think I might have to actually create one of these for real and give it to skater. :rotfl2:

May I "borrow" this awesome picture and add it to the FAQ thread??? I have a post where I describe the use of a refill mug for the slushie drinks and this would be PERFECT!!!

Pretty please???

I will understand if you prefer I wait until after your trip, though.

Awesome trip report envelopes. :worship: I pretty much scratch a "Thank you!" on notepaper and leave the bills under it.

This! I should have stock in SC Johnson, maker of Ziploc, one of the most indispensable incredible trip innovations ever!

That is fantastic about the kitties. Sending positive energy for them all, especially the struggling ones. My two cats, Oreo and Monster Energy Cats were rescues that we got from my son's 5th grade science teacher when he showed pictures of the two cats his family was fostering.

:cat::cat:

Poppy- congrats on the addition of Gus to your family! Adorable!

Is the Yacht & Beach FAQ one of those 37 places you have posted? Lots of FP+ and Magic Band chatter over there in the past week.

Yay and welcome :welcome:to our PTR! I'm happy that we lured you over here from the Y&BC thread! I read your posts on there all the time. You may absolutely use our secret slushie photo on the thread. That's the best thread! We both like reading it. And no, the Y&BC thread was not one of the places I posted. Someone finally answered my questions though and so I think we're going to be ok using the FP+, adding our AP and Travel Agent tickets to our Magic Bands and then separating our package tickets to use later. Whew! I think that people might be a little overwhelmed with all the questions and so it kept getting overlooked.

I made t-shirts with my daughter this weekend. I'll try and post some photos of that later. I'm actually wearing mine right now. We just got back from working on the fences for the horses.

Thanks for joining us!
PoppyGirl (and skater because we are of the same mind on most things)

Thought I would post something so I don't get accused of lurking or something ;). My sick kitten, Floyd is actually getting better. I think the vets are almost surprised (though he's not totally out of the woods yet). I attribute it to spacing the antibiotic out nearly perfectly (3x a day - every 8 hours), lots of love, and premium can cat food (as much as he wants). I'm still saying a few prayers for him.

Oh yeah, the shirt that poppy girl made for me is really cool!

So. skater has been to MNSSHP with her family in the past, but I have never been. Haven't ever been to Disney in the fall so I'm pretty excited about the Halloween decor. :dance3:

skater has been super busy lately. This is very dangerous for a Disney addict such as myself. :rolleyes1 WAAAAY too much time on my hands for excessive planning and.....shall we say...."researching."

I'm not really a Halloween person--it's typically my least favorite holiday but I do it for the kids. However, something about this idea of being at DISNEY for a Halloween party has me going a little crazy!

So....since skater needs her pool time every day, IF we were to go, we won't have that much time to dress up for the partay. (Yes, Par-Tay). So I had to come up with something fun and cute that can be done quickly.

What do you think:
