I learned to love Amarula when we stayed at AKL the first time. It's an African liqueur made from the Amarula fruits which grow in Africa and are eaten by elephants. I've never had this drink but it sounds interesting!

Brown Elephant Ingredients:

2 oz Amarula Cream Liqueur
3 oz Milk
3 oz Cola (Coke)
Glass: Parfait Glass
Brown Elephant Instructions:

Shake the Amarula and milk with ice in a cocktail shaker.
Add the cola to the shaker and stir slightly.
Strain into a parfait glass full of ice.

I have no idea about this lobster claw cuddler but the name cracks me up!

NOT a kimchi fan at all. However, both of skater's boys are adopted from Korea and so I thought in honor of her and her boys we should try a kimchi dog. I think she actually likes kimchi.

I decided to post the happy things that happened today first.

First, it's 100 days til our trip!!!!!!!!!! :
I guess that would be enough celebrating. Tomorrow we hit double digits. Let's hope the rest of tomorrow is better too!

AND Southwest finally dropped their price on the flight we wanted so we booked that. Now it's REALLY real. We are flying down to FL, not just flying BACK from FL! Ha! And our total price round trip was less than $200 each for our flights. Niiiiiiice.

skater is on vacay at the having crabs and swimming and sunning with her family. I'm sweating it out while my kids are in VBS at church in the 100+ heat index. Next week DS goes to camp. Then it's our vacay to Texas (whose idea was that anyway?) Then DD has camp and then I think my brother is coming for a visit and then my kids start school. August 19. It's criminal I tell you. Criminal! School should run from the day after Labor Day to the day before Memorial Day and when I am president I shall make it so. (Any Star Trek Next Generation fans among us?) "Make it so." Maybe I should be the captain of our little trip.......



So, do you want to know the awful thing that happened too? I've been near tears most of the day. Let's just say that my relationship with my step sons has been difficult mostly due to their mother. I have worked SO hard at keeping a relationship with them, but there have been many hurt feelings and much for me to work through over the years. I love them a lot but we have very different philosophies of life. The younger one and I are closer--he's more thoughtful of others and MUCH more responsible. The older one....oh dear....he's in his own little world sometimes. I shouldn't have let it get to me this much, but I saw on facebook (!!!) last night that he and his girlfriend had gotten engaged a couple days ago. We have been waiting for over a YEAR with bated breath.....just waiting for it to happen. My DD LOVES his fiance and bugs him all the time about when they will get married. He did not call us. My husband doesn't even know yet. I'm afraid he's going to find out from his brother (since the nieces and nephews know) and his brother will NEVER let him live it down if he finds out first. And he'll be mean about it. (don't ask) Anyway, I texted him about 5 times today--no response. If my daughter finds out and they didn't tell her she is going to be CRUSHED. So I've been holding on to this secret all day today and feeling more and more sad.

It did help that I found our flights for October and talked to skater. And I got a very wise e-mail from my mom about how hard I've worked to keep the relationship but right now I'm feeling sad that they didn't even think to call us personally.

I'm in! I'm also going to the Epcot F&W Festival this October and still not sure what events to reserve in a month. The DDD looks fun, but maybe a bit pricey. I'm a huge fan of your schedules and plans. And I love those shirts! Are you making extras???

Also I'm sorry about the situation with your step-son. That sounds like not fun. Is your husband and/or daughter not on Facebook? I hope they find out from him.

I have two of those monsters to the core. I love them don't get me wrong but their mother ruined them. They didn't even know how to sweep the floor when we got custody. And I still fight with them to clean their rooms and do anything that resembles a chore.........they are 20 & 22

DLR29--WELCOME to our PTR! I see you have one as well so I will have to check that out! Yes, DDD is a bit pricey but we figured it would be our splurge! Have you checked out the Disney Food Blog? That's where I try and keep up with the announcements about what's going on at F&W. They have a little booklet you can order and download that has everything in it. I prepaid for the 2013 one and you get the 2012 one as well. Can't wait til it's ready to print!

Well, my DH HAS a FB account but he can't figure out how to sign on. In this case it was a good thing and I'm happy to report that DS texted me a bunch of excuses as to why he hadn't yet called....but then he called and talked to everyone so DD, DH and DS are all excited and happy about the wedding in December. I guess there's a lot of drama on the other side of the family so now I have to try and be the mature one.

Despite being 33 when I got married, I was pretty immature and thought I knew a lot more than I did. It took me a long time to grow up and learn now to really love them. Obviously something like what happened today makes me feel all regressed.....

So now I have a future DDIL (daughter in law?) and she was sweet and asked me to go look at the church with her when we come to TX in 2 weeks. She wants DD to be in the wedding and DSS asked DS to also be in the wedding. DH is having a conniption about traveling AGAIN (good grief, how did I ever marry someone so opposite from me?) (Wait didn't I just talk about that? ) Anyway, I feel much better now than I did earlier today since he finally called and talked to everyone.

99 days til our Disney trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



I'm so excited! Today was SO much better than yesterday. And after work tomorrow I leave for 3 days of scrapbooking at my retreat. I'm going to try and get caught up on my last 2 Disney trips!

And it's less than a month til we can book our events for Food and Wine.

And I have the house all to myself tonight! The family went to the Maryland State Dairy Princess Pageant. My husband is on the council. It sort of cracks me up. He's the only man on the council. Hmmm....and he works with 120 women every day in the barn....

In-ter-est-ing. But what is so funny is that although all these wine and drink things totally fascinate me, I'm such a lightweight....one or two drinks and I'm done for!

We leave for our vacay on Tuesday at 0-dark-thirty. Flying to TX to see the kid and the future DIL. I've been e-mailing back and forth with her mom and getting the scoop on the wedding planning. Perhaps I should have been a wedding planner....

The thing I'm most worried about is the ex-wife. I'm not scared--but that's the face I make when I think about her. She. Is. So. Difficult. And so fakey. Arrgh! I can't stand fakey. That side of the family has completely opposite morals and values as our family. So two of my really really good friends live in TX--one right there in San Antonio where the wedding will be. I'm inviting them to the wedding. Moral support! To be honest I've worried about the future weddings of my DSS's from the day we got married...how to deal with the ex. DH and I want to keep the drama to a minimum and make it nice for the kids. It's THEIR day. I hope I'll be a good MIL. My mom has been a great MIL--she doesn't butt in, she's supportive, she loves my DH. Ok, now I miss my mom.

Alrighty....well, that's probably way more information about my personal life than anyone needed today. I'm going to get ready for my long day at work.

Oh, on a positive and Disney-related note: I ordered my Travel Agent Discounted tickets this week. Woot!
