Girls are saving hard to do Sea World residential camp next year. They will be 14,12 & 10. can't find much info about what happens at camp. i know they stay offsite unlike Busch Gardens but I would like to know what living arrangements are. Where they eat ther meals etc. They did day camp last year so I suspect they will eat their meals in Seaworld like they did for day camp. However I have concerns about having two 10 year olds share a hotel room on their own . Not too happy about that seeing as they will be in a hotel open to the public . Don't know who they will have staying near to them. Plenty of info about the activities none about anything else.
Would prefer Busch gardens camp s they live in dorms onsite. But there is nothing suitable for middle child. Day camp would be good there but there is no option for oldest child other than 3 week camp which is no use.
Anyone had a child do camp who could put my mind at rest.

Here are a two threads about the camps will give you some information. The education department is great too -- call them about any questions you have.

The threads also would give you DISBOARD names of some parents that you might want to email with questions.

My son has done the Orlando camp at age 13 and 15, and went to San Diego at age 14. I'd be happy to answer any questions, but sounds like maybe you'd like to hear from someone with a child who has gone at younger ages.

Thanks Kathy had seen those threads but there was nothing about sleeping or eating. Questions I have are all about where and what they eat at night time. Do they always eat at Seaworld . when they did day camp my youngest didn't eat for three days as she doesn't eat Pizza or corn dogs. Shw would have prefered more fruit or veg. Will ask some of the others as well as contacting Seaworld. Thanks.

If it hadn't of been for a pack of Ritz crackers and a jar of peanut butter, I don't think I would have made it thru my trip to China. After what I saw I just could not eat what was on my plate.

It's a thought.

My daughter just went this July. She is 13 and loved it! I will have her post tonight some of the details of the stay and answer some of your questions...

Hi thanks. My main concern is that two 10/11 years would be in a room left to their own devices. What happens when they are done at seaworld and go back to hotel. How do they get camp t shirts washed. Are all the camps combines together at the hotel. Would have 3 in different camps .

Hi. I went to camp this summer and it was amazing! We all stay in the hotel, there is a floor where all the boys are, the rooms are all in the same area with a few counselors, and the girls are on another. The first and last night we sleep in one of the Sea World animal enclosures. The other nights we are in the hotels. You get to pick your roomates, there are usually 2 or 3 kids in a room. I'm not sure how it is for the younger kids but the 7-9 graders were allowed to roam certain floors in the hotel till 9:30 when our counselors came by our room for curfew and placed a piece of tape on our door so they would know if we came out. If we needed anything after curfew we had a list of the rooms the counselors were in and we could use the room phone to call them. When you stay at the hotel you eat at the buffet there in the morning and have your other meals in the park. During the day we walk around the park and go to the exhibits and talk to the trainers and such. We get to go back into the rehabilitation center and see some of the animals there, plus go behind some of the exhibists. We also spend one day at the Sea World waterpark Aquatica, where we are allowed to be on our own with a buddy and have check in times at counselor outposts, the same goes for when we spend a day at Discovery Cove and swim with the dolphins. We also have time to go shopping in Sea World and spend some time on our own in certain areas. We are given two tee-shirts when we first arive at camp. We wore the shirts 3 or 4 times out of the 5 days we were there, and there was access to washers and dryers, that you have to pay for, if you need them. There is a 20 person bus/tram that takes us to and from Sea World, the hotel, Discovery Cove, and Aquatica.

My wife and I ran into the camp groups a few times while we were visiting Sea World. I can't believe I never noticed them on other trips. EVERY group we saw regardless of age group was well behaved and well supervised. If you want to talk feel free to PM me and I will send you our phone #.

My daughter has gone 4 years now, since the first year she was eligible and absolutely loves it. I was scared to death with the idea of her being in a hotel room with someone she didn't know and no counselor around but, as it turns out, there is a counselor on the floor with them. I believe it is one counselor for 4 rooms with the first two years of camp (going into 5th and 6th grade)and then it goes up with the career camps. Don't hesitate to let your DD's go. Mine learned so much and even matured a little over her first summer, the confidence they gain and experiences they have are worth a little parental angst. Of course, you could do what I did the first year she went and stay at WDW for the week all alone, with no one to bother you, doing whatever you want whenever you want to do it.....
