Season 7 of 'The Next Food Network Star' stars tonight at 9pm!

I wasn't surprised at who went home but I did like the person--just not in front of the camera.
The other person won't win either so it is a matter of time.

Vic is so inconsistent. I'm just not a fan. Seems like a nice guy though.

Jeff's presentation for the "The Best thing..." was great. He does so well in front of the camera and they certainly like his food. I'm picking him although I don't personally care for him. I'd watch his show though and see if he can win me over.

Susie just seems to be better to the judges than to me. She makes them good food consistently but other than that, I just do not get her. Her family stories do come across as warm though. It just seems to be the same story over and over.

Whitney seems like a great cook and a nice person but she just doesn't make any kind of connection. God knows she has been trying week after week, she must be frustrated!

MaryBeth--I'm not sure what it is about her that turns me off. She cooks pretty good but not great, she speaks well and does a good job on camera (for the most part), she was so unsure of that duck last night that I think she was so afraid that it wasn't good than she bombed in front of the judges as far as getting her fun personality across. I can understand that--it just wasn't a good situation. I thought Jeff was nice that he seemed aware that she was afraid of the duck and I thought he really did want her to do well.

I cannot believe they are bringing Penny back. Yuck, yuck, yuck. But I think it should be fine, I hope. I just do not want to see her face again!

Glad to hear Jeff (from Melissa's season) is coming to FN. I liked him (although I thought they chose correctly) and like his show on Cooking Channel.

I'm off to print of Melissa's recipes from yesterday--they looked great and I'm making the whole shebang for dinner tomorrow!!

I'm not surprised about who left. I do like Mary Beth, but I'm still not sure about that whole "Sunday dinner" POV - what does that even mean? Mary Beth has the ability to talk about food, which is important, but I don't know what her show would be.

Vic's got to figure out how Mama's Boy would be different than Giada's Italian cooking. He comes off as a "Guy lite" which doesn't bode well for his chances.

Susie's Mexican - how does it differ from "Mexican Made Easy", which is also hosted by a native Mexican?

The only one who has a concept that doesn't already exist on FN is Jeff.

As for Jeffrey's show - watched 10 minutes and had it. It's another "Let's look at how they make stuff" show, like Adam Gertler's, or Tom whats-his-name, and soon-to-be Duff's new show. I would have watched him cook, but running around to bakeries and restaurants I'll never taste? Eh.

I think of Giada's food as elegant and fun at the same time, while I'd expect Vic's to be more updated home cooking. But he's running out of time.

IF Susie goes with upscale Mexican without putting down 'everyday' Mexican, and IF she lets go of her "I want to be a celebrity" mindset, then maybe she has a chance. I hope the judges see the same clips we see. That's really turning me off.

As a budding/amateur stand-up comedian, I identify with Jeff. He's good on camera because of that experience, and as snykymom said, his concept isn't on FN. And I can make sandwiches!

But just because I favor one contestant over another doesn't necessarily mean that's who I think will - or won't - win ;).

I'm not happy. :(

So as much as I've enjoyed Vic throughout the show... I think I'm starting to lean toward Jeff. Susie still drives me crazy.

I thought Whitney should have stayed over Mary Beth but I think MB will be gone next.

I have to say I was never a big Giada fan before NFNS and even less after watching her on this. She seems really petty and not very nice. And up Bob and Susie's ... well you know. This was particularily glaring when Jyll came back from Wolfie's rissotto class. Jyll was poised and carried and and Giada was very critical about her not showing emotion. Isn't a professional supposed to keep it together (show must go on etc..) .

Okay, this might be an unpopular opinion, but that the was the most uncomfortable and least funny roast I have ever had to sit through! It was a really strange challenge--one that I hope they don't repeat.

I liked the chef that they sent home last night; she seemed like she truly had food talent. I think one of the two male contestants will take the whole thing.

I guess Jeff is going to win, as he seems to be the strongest person left. Also, Susie and Bob are campaigning for him and I imagine they get to make the final decision. On the other hand, I don't think I'd watch Jeff's show. He rubs me the wrong way and I don't need a tutorial about how to make sandwiches.

Also, what was with the actress from "Parks and Recreation"? The comedienne who was not Judy Gold. She didn't seem to even want to be there.

I completely agree with you on all counts. That was the saddest "roast" ever. There was no roasting! Just 10 minutes of awkwardness. I found the entire episode dull, to be honest, but I'm looking forward to next week when Alton comes back.

And my money's on Jeff.

I think s big problem with the roast is none of the 'roasters' knew the contestants. In a typical roast, the victim is well-known. There's a lot to make fun of.

I like Jeff's concept - any meal into a sandwich/any sandwich into a meal - and I like him, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to win. Sure, Aarti was a shho-in last season, but even in the final episode Melissa seemed like the underdog.
Season 1: I didn't watch, but if the Hearty Boys were the best of the lot, eh.
Season 2: Guy. Goes without saying, personification of 'star'
Season 3: Amy. Okay, could have kept going with a Sunday show
Season 4: Aaron. I love Aaron, especially calm, but Adam should have won :)
Season 5: Melissa. Another eh. Certainly not a shoo-in; Jeffrey should have won
Season 6: Would rather watch Tom cook. Aarti is a combination of natural and fake

So, I can see my favorite not winning for a reason I don't know yet. I can also see Mary Beth with her own show on the Cooking Channel :).

I agree; I think they will give Mary Beth a food show, like Tom or Jeff or Adam has, but not necessarily a cooking show.

I think you're talking about Aubrey Gold and that's her shtick...deadpan. Doesn't quite work when no on knows you...:lmao:

I liked Jeff more this week and think it will be between him and Vic. No strong women except Orchid and she's GONE. :headache:

I agree. The one non-winners show I really like is Kelsey's it is a great basic cooking show with wonderful information.

I could've written this! :thumbsup2

I could've written this! :thumbsup2
I know you could have. You and I are the same person, except I don't live in Brooklyn (but my dad grew up there), I don't have kids, I'm a very little bit older or younger than you, we have different parents and siblings, if you have brothers they probably don't think they know everything, I don't have a college degree or a professional job... :rotfl2:
But I can't cook, either ;)

MOM???

VEERY funny. No. I don't know how old you are, but I do know you and I are way too close to the same age as Disneyland to be anything but siblings. Which we're not. I'd remember if there were a seventh kid crammed into the house :).

Not real happy with 2 of the 3 finalists. And next week is the final epsiode!
