Season 7 of 'The Next Food Network Star' stars tonight at 9pm!

Is ordering the book the only way to get the recipes from the shows? I was hoping to get Mary Beth's recipe for the meat loaf with buttermilk from a couple of weeks ago, but it's not posted online. Since there's a book coming out, can I hope that ALL the recipes will be in the book?

So a little off topic....Thursday night Big Chef Tom is going to be having a tailgate at the Phillies game!! He is a big Phillies fan so mentioned it on Twitter earlier this year and a bunch of the fans wrote back and planned the date. We can't wait!!! As soon as tickets went on sale that was the first game we bought!! :yay:

That's right, you did! :rotfl:

I think you are spot on in your analysis. I really like Mary Beth, but I don't know what her show would be. And you're right, there are tons of Whitneys & Suzies out there. The FN does have a great Mexican cooking show right now & they had another one a few years ago. So Suzie isn't unique. The guys are a bit more unique, but I have a feeling they think Vic could be another Guy. And I'm sorry, but there is only one Guy. Jeff does have some possibilites. But that cupcake!!

I think the Food Network is trying to create another Guy Fieri, but I think Vic falls short. He might have the "look", but Guy has much more charisma. I am impressed that he can hold down 3 TV shows, one of which isn't even food related ("Minute to Win It.") And his product endorsements. I'm getting tired just thinking about his schedule!

Vic will probably win, because the others just aren't as memorable as he is. Jeff seems like a "nice guy", and the women are interchangeable.

Well, I don't remember what Melissa intended her show to be about, but I'm 100% certain it wasn't $10 Dinners!

Her show surprised me too although I think her hints on the show lean towards how to save money on meals. I am amazed at how much my grocery bill has come down because of listening to and using her tips. Her food is great! My whole family loves her food. I can't wait to own her cookbook!

Jeffrey Saad announced on his Facebook page today that his show, United Tastes of America is going to be on Food Network at 8am on Sunday mornings, starting this coming Sunday.

He was my #1 choice right from the start to win the season Melissa won and I've been so bummed that my cable package didn't include the Cooking Channel. So now I get to watch his show... I already set my DVR!!

I really like Melissa, but I was seriously stunned when she beat him and part of me thinks that FN already had a show concept in mind and that Jeffrey simply didn't fit into it.

that wouldn't surprise me in the least. I think viewers liked them both (I know I did), they knew she would fit into that show.

Glad to hear it. I didn't (don't) care for Melissa but really liked him. :thumbsup2

Humph. That's what I get for being human and sleeping in. I forgot all about Jeffrey's show - and I wanted him to win his season, too!

Okay, I thought I knew who was going home, but now I'm not so sure. But just before the 9:41 commercial break, Bob T. said, "I can see either one of them staying or either one of them going", and I know which two he means: MB or W

I know who's going to win. It's not a spoiler, just an opinion, and I'm free to change my mind at any time :teeth:.

And I was right about the bottom two, but wrong about which one went home. Uh, where are all you FNS fans tonight, anyway? If I wanted to talk to myself, I could do that without being online... ;).

I'm not surprised and I think the other one will be gone next week.

Sorry. I was putting the last load of laundry in the dryer.

I'm changing my mind on who will win. And I think I'll watch that show.

Who got kicked off? We had a storm come through and knock the t.v. off just at the end of the show.

i wasn't surprised. but i am surprised that they're still keeping Vic around. i guess i don't love him as much as they seem to.

Vic is a good cook when he doesn't go over the top (lachanga, huge slabs of prime rib) but sticks with the 'Mama's Boy' homemade Italian; and his presentations are getting better.

Susie was great last night in her presentation, but she doesn't seem consistent. She's good but not great at engaging the audience - did she take a question last week? - and she can personalize the food, but as Suzy F. points out, she does seem to be giving the impression that she thinks viewers think Mexican food is tacky or low-class. If her POV had always just been elegant Mexican food, she wouldn't seem so embarassed by 'regular' Mexican. The thing I don't like about Susie is that she keeps stressing she wants to be a celebrity. Not a cook with a tv show, but a celebrity. Bugs me.

Mary Beth. It still bothers me that Bobby said recently whatever she made was the only good thing she'd ever made. What about her meatloaf????? In the challenge where they cooked for the cast of Cougar Town? But of course, she does need to pick up her game, and she probably only has one episode left to do that (more below).

Jeff - I don't want to jinx anything, after all Jeffrey Saad seemed like a shoo-in even when the competition was down to Melissa and him, but right now it seems like this season is Jeff Morrow's to lose. Three wins in a row, a great concept, almost consistently good food, (mostly) great presentation...

Based on last night's previews, it's entirely possible Mary Beth squeaks through and Vic gets eliminated. Don't these contestants watch previous seasons of the show and KNOW they'll have to do an episode of Iron Chef? And that half the time, they'll be describing the action and answering Alton's questions on the fly? Amy's skill at that impressed the judges.

Something about Jeff just bugs the heck out of me. Don't care for Mary Beth, either.

We don't like to give that up until everyone has a chance to watch. But you can probably guess from some of the posts here now.
