Anyone else on this cruise? I am actually starting to pile things up in a corner . . . I love sea days and am quite happy to have TEN of them. My only issue is not being able to buy things I forgot. I took the same cruise in 2024 and came down with a cold (yes, it was a cold, not Covid). I had brought some cough drops but ran out . . and there was NOTHING sold in the little shop for a cold. In fact, the options of 'sundry' things to buy has been easily cut in half. (I have photos from a pre Covid cruise) The only place to get cough drops was the Infirmary and it involved a visit to the Doctor. Thankfully a crew member at Guest Services offered to go get some for me from the Infirmary without a visit ($5). If you have any cold/flu/Covid symptoms, they want you to see the doctor. Seemed overkill for cough drops (not medicine).

Not sure about stores (pharmacy/grocery) in any of the ports so am going to try and bring some 'what ifs' . . so far, this list includes the following. If anyone has any other ideas, please post here. Thanks!

Cough Drops!
Cough syrup
Dramamine
Thermometer
Bandaids
Pulse Oxymeter
Moleskin
Clothes pins (just 2, might come in handy!)
OTC meds (Mucinex, Tums, Pedialyte packs, Ibuprofen, tummy pills)
Tiny sewing kit
Pens, journal, sketch book
Tiny travel sized Duck tape
Stuff to read (real books, Kindle)
Extra earbuds and charging cables.
Spare Airtag battery
Chicken bouillon cubes - I did order chicken soup from Room Service, it's really good stuff but one time it wasn't very warm. This way I can use hot water from the Pool Deck - it really does help with a cold, might be psychosomatic?
Sunscreen (not sure I'll need it)
Tea Towel (I use this as sort of a table cloth for in room dining)
Map of the Atlantic Ocean (just for fun, National Geographic) and magnets to hang it up
Scented Room Spray
Glasses Repair Kit
Safety pins
Cardboard (just a small piece - sometimes there are creaks and you can quell them by putting some cardboard in the crack - usually where the wall meets the ceiling)

None of this takes up a ton of room.

I'll just say... If you or any female in your party are "of childbearing age" shall we say, take extra product just in case. You never know when your body is going to decide to be weird. I had to restock when my cruise was in Venice (when cruise ships could still sail there) because my body decided to be extra, and it cost me more to get one pack than it did the guy next to me to get 2 cartons of cigarettes in a store in Venice. (And it cost me less there than it would have on the ship.)

Agreed. You may not be able to even find what you need in the Port. The stops on this cruise are two smaller cities in Spain (Vigo and La Caruna) and then one on the island of Madeira. On the TA in 2024, at least we stopped in Lisbon where I figured there would be almost anything you needed? Not complaining! But not being able to find something I considered 'basic' (cough drops) on the ship was a surprise.

Also, it looks like it might be an active Hurricane season in the Atlantic so we might not even be able to dock in one of the ports, or be delayed into Port Canaveral. Guess I'll also bring extra Rx'd meds.

I remember when DCL even sold books! Maybe just a dozen popular current paperbacks . . . I really NEED to have something to read, even if it's not great. (And I really don't like reading on my old Kindle, but I'll probably bring it, in case we pull a Gilligan's Island).

I'll add on... If you have a daughter who is potentially close to the age of starting and has not yet, take something for her just in case it decided that a cruise would be a "magical time" to appear. I'd recommend this for any trips with said daughter. (Said as a teacher who has had to manage students who start at school - and in many cases have zero clue what is happening because their mom either didn't think it would happen yet - or at all "because they're in special education".)

Anyone else on this cruise?
Hi. We are on this cruise too and thank you for your insight. This is our 1st TA , but will be 10th Disney cruise. We are looking forward to it. There is a WhatsApp group for this cruise, you could always ask other passengers if they have extra of any particular item. We would be willing to share. Hope to meet up on ship!

Adding more of these ideas to my list, thanks! I think it’s better to be over prepared. Amazon’s not going to deliver to the middle of the Atlantic . . . Yet!

MalvernPA - it’s my 10th cruise too!!! Yay, us!

Not on WhatsApp, but thanks. There should be a bulletin board in Cove Cafe for such requests . . Including a book swap . . .

I started sailing on the Magic - there was a little Library with books and puzzles and quiet. It was nice.

I did the Wish last weekend ahead of going to WDW. I thought I was done since was over a year since my last period. When it decided to join the cruise too on the last full day. I had to raid the public area restrooms to tide me over until I could hit a store in Orlando.

I always bring at least 2-3 days extra because you just never know what's going to happen when traveling domestically or abroad.
This sounds great in theory, but extra clothes just means heavier luggage. The night before the cruise, I found myself pulling things out and repacking. Girl of the South had advised not to bring too many clothes, and I sort of, kind of listened. On the way back to the States after the cruise, my checked luggage ended up overweight! The international weight limit is slightly different. Thankfully, I had a carry-on and had packed my DCL tote bag just in case. Many of us on the cruise joked that we wished we had brought more clothes, but we just ended up washing and rewearing what we had packed.

Packing is obviously a very personal endeavor. People think I’m crazy for bringing real books. I just bring a couple scarves and hope no one notices it’s nearly the same outfit. In truth, except for some cool Halloween costumes, I don’t remember what anyone else wore on my last cruise.

I don’t buy souvenirs anymore. I hope to get some Swiss chocolate in London before I get on the ship. Christmas gifts.

I hadn’t realized weight limits were different? Is it 22kg? I know carry on luggage SIZE is different.

We’re debating what type of clothes to bring since it will be November. I’m guessing it will not be “shorts and swimsuits” warm but we’ve not been in southern England, northern Spain and an island west of Morocco at that time of year. Plus all the sea days across the Atlantic. Insights anyone?

I did the same cruise in 2024 but it was 2 weeks earlier. I was surprised at what excellent weather we had! Rained twice but not for the entire day. London looks like it will be in the 60’s.

And we’ll be sailing South. I tend to run warm so I got by with a rainjacket the one day in the Azores. A sweatshirt maybe in the evenings on the ship. People spent time in Satellite Falls.

A few years back I did the TA that went to Canada and then NY and the crossing part was windy and cold.

Pretty sure people wore shorts and swimsuits. But we should check the weather/possible storms closer to the trip.

Some amazing sunsets all the way across. I chose a port side (left) cabin to catch the most sun.

Just checked what temps are normal for that time of year (November)

London - upper 50’s
Vigo - 60’s
Madeira - 60’s
Orlando - 70’s

The crossing itself is hard to predict but ship will try to avoid any rough weather. Could be windy.
