Season 7 of 'The Next Food Network Star' stars tonight at 9pm!

I was happy with the results too. Made me nervous, too!

I'm sure that they explained the issues they had. But come on - she knew she was making churros. Shouldn't she have been responsible enough to make sure she got the oil? And if she didn't, shouldn't she have checked in time to do something else? As they've said many times, a star chef needs to be able to roll with the punches, and think and create on the fly. Like with Orchid getting canned oysters - OK, if they don't have fresh oysters, make something else! There was little excuse either for the pancakes or the milk shakes. I know they were on Duff's team, but they should have channeled a little bit of "What would Robert do?"

Oh I agree with you and I don't really care about the churro/pancake fiasco, she's not even a favorite of mine, I just miss being able to hear them explain what happened like we have in past seasons.

Couple of people from the other team I would've liked to have seen go - but noooo, just because their overall team won.

I hate that they do that. They should have one winner... and everyone else should be eligible for elimination for whatever reason the judges see fit. The editing always drives crazy. And I get what Bobby was saying about saying "just a brownie" or "just vanilla ice cream" or whatever... but come on! I just read the article in FNM about how many hours they spend filming his grilling show! Don't tell me that you have to be perfect in one take because you don't get another shot.

I hope Justin figures out how to talk to camera, because I'm liking him an awful lot!!

Hi it's Alicia from Food Network Star. Penny came off like a horrible person but she wasn't AS bad as it seemed ...check out my blog dishwithlish.com for more details:) xx, Alicia

Well, based on the judges' comments, I'm not surprised that person went home. Disappointed, but not surprised. Couple of people from the other team I would've liked to have seen go - but noooo, just because their overall team won.

Shhhhh, she'll hear you!!

Hey, I thought I was tactful - a lot more tactful than a couple of subsequent posts! I really was disappointed to see Alicia go, but because came is her area of expertise and the judges pointed out the lemon cake pops weren't completely baked and her cookie dough cupcakes were dry and crumbly, I'm not surprised they sent her home.

Despite making a really good ice cream, I think Chris should have gone already. He 'negative-sold' it ("...just a vanilla anglais...") and he really doesn't have the maturity. I think he's going to be like Debbie for a while - each week, there's going to be somebody worse than him...until there isn't.

Justin (the tall one) has no stage presence. At this point, I just wouldn't watch any show he hosted. On the other hand, I would have watched a Juba show even if he never said a word.

Major DVR fail tonight. The show only said it was an hour and actually it was 90 minutes. So we missed a couple of the presentations, but at least got to see who went home.

I think the top 3 will be

3. Whitney
2. Orchid
1. Jyll

With a shocking twist of Justin D. if he can get his act together....

I was sitting there watching, and when 10 PM rolled around, and they hadn't sent someone home yet, I figured something was off!

Ultimately, I don't think Jyll will win. There's too much of a physical resemblance between Melissa and her; and what's her culinary point of view? Sort of the same for Orchid - she resembles Aarti (although less so than the previous two) and her culinary POV is already covered by Paula.

My final three would be Vic, Orchid, and the sandwich guy. He 'sold' tofu to people who detest, hate, or refuse to eat it - and they liked it!

Oh, and Penny still can't go soon enough for me!

I was surprised. It sounded like they were going to send a different person home. Apparently, the person they sent home thought the same thing ;)

Oh, and Penny still can't go soon enough for me!

She is HORRIBLE. I don't have enough words to describe how much I dislike her. UGH. And the previews for next week?? Oy vey. I loved watching everyone hate on her food :)

Ditto. And I'm NOT happy.

I was :rotfl: when Ian Gomez said "I didn't know Vin Diesel could cook!"

I'm starting to like Mary Beth a lot. And I could totally get behind Susie if she turned it down a notch. I like Mexican food, and I can see that working out pretty well.

The thing is, as good or even great a cook as she may be, I would NOT watch her show. It's not all about the cooking, and she's not getting that. And, interestingly, the judges don't seem to be pointing that out to her ;) She doesn't have the personality to host a TV show... at least not one that Food Network viewers would watch :rotfl:

There is no way I'd watch Penny's show. No way. But I have a feeling she might be sticking around for a while, they seem to hold on to the irritating ones for a long time. But if her food continues to be bad, she'll go.

I like Suzie a lot. But they already have a Mexican cooking show. But there's room for two, that's for sure. I'd watch Suzie.

And I'm a big fan of Mary Beth. That meatloaf looked fantastic. And she seems like so much fun. Plus she seems to know a lot about food, but she doesn't cram that knowledge down your throat all the time. I really want her to win.

Whitney & Orchid are OK. I'm not sure if I'd watch them. Jyll's OK too, she seems a little more watchable.

I'm not a fan of any of the guys that are left. I know I'm in the minority with Vince but he doesn't do it for me. But I might watch a show with him, his food looks pretty good. And I don't want to discuss anyone in case someone hasn't seen last night's show.

Penny is just so rude. The purpose of the show is to win by showing that you are the best -- not to win by making everybody look bad.

I can't wait for Penny to be sent home.

At this point, there isn't one contestant that I can picture myself watching on their own show. Not one. I hope that changes soon.

New episode of what?

Warning everyone - I won't stop saying "Penny can't go soon enough for me" until at least a day after she's gone (so I don't spoil results for anyone who doesn't watch right away)! She's just not getting the point of the competition; its not just to impress the judges and beat the other contestants. You also have to be watchable. She's not.

I swear, they keep the nasty ones around on purpose. They all might murder Penny before this is done.

And I had a feeling that the one who went home was going home.
