SDV Orlando 2010, August 27 - 29

One of the instructors at my local scrapbook store teaches at SDV- she's the one that "talked" us into it. ;) Her name is Katie- she's pretty good.
 
OK I added 2 more people to breakfast and it bumped our time up by 5 minutes.
So 8:10 am breakfast. We'll still plan to meet outside Ohana around 8. I may try to get there a few minutes early to set up. I know the line can get long.

I'm now coming in Wednesday 8/25 but I'm leaving at the crack of dawn Sunday. I can't give up free flights for a few extra hours. Well I could but DH is not willing to! LOL

shirts: are we still doing blue and pink? Do we want one for Thursday and/or Sunday?
I'm going to do 2 designs for shirts. One with the date and one without.

My group- well at least some of us will definitely be doing shirts(cannot wait ). 2 in our group are going to DHS for the day after O'Hana- so they won't be cropping on Saturday- but 2 of us are. We are just doing MK on Thursday.
 
Breakfast sounds great-thanks for adding us! I have never been to Ohana before so I am really looking forward to it. Love the shirt idea. What is the design or hasn't it been unveiled yet? I hate to rush the summer away, but 124 more days can't come fast enough!!!!!

Is anyone staying longer than Sunday? We arrive Thurs and leave Tues am.
I know it is going to be blazing hot but we don't care.

I wish I could- but DD7 starts school on Monday- so I have to go home Sunday afternoon to get her ready. We are going down Wednesday evening though. Haven't ever been to MK without DD and DH- so it will be fun with my friends!!
 

I cannot wait for Ohana breakfast- love that juice. It is so good- I'll have to take lots of pics of all of the characters there- only been once. :love:
 
This will be my first time going without my family which I am sure is going to be weird, yet very exciting. Oddly enough we stayed at the Contemporary for our 1st family trip. The best thing though is that my friend hasn't been in a long while so she said for me to make the plan and she will basically follow. Sounds great to me!!

It is weird at first not going with the kids, but you'll get used to it. You might actually get to see things you want to see! LOL

DH's travel. He's been on the road every week since we got back in Dec. So, he's gotten so many miles that we got 2 free tickets. But the return flight that I can book with points leaves at 10:30. So yeah, you will probably miss me. :( we'll just have to get together at a crop and have a distressing session.
 
I am so excited about this trip and cannot wait to get there and meet everyone!!!!! :banana: I'm coming down Thursday morning. Right now I'm scheduled to come home on Sunday, but I'm seriously thinking of staying over one more night and driving home on Monday. I'm still trying to convince DH on that!:goodvibes

I like the the choice of pink and blue t-shirts. :thumbsup2
 
How do you all get to and from the airport (in Disney)? I am hoping to use Disney transportation so I don't have to haul everything through the airport. I thought I remember seeing that you could sign up for it but not until like a month before? Do you take a cab or use one of those limo services that makes a stop for groceries and whatnot?

Also, just wondering if anyone is flying Southwest out of Logan on the 26th? I think our flight is at 10:30 am? So many questions-still so much time!

My group is using a limo service- but there are 4 of us- so it is only going to run us $50 each. We are getting in late on Wednesday- so we wanted to get to the hotel and get settled for our commando day at MK on Thursday.

I hire a car. Tiffany town car is $110 round trip and will stop at the grocery for 30 minutes. Sorry, not coming in on the 26th, I switched it to the 25th.
We are trying Magical Express this time though, hopefully it goes smoothly.

Some of us from CT are leaving Sunday, three others are flying down Wednesday. This trip around we will be renting a car, the three will be doing the Magic Express to WDW, then ride back with us in the car.

Only one will be riding back with you. I have to take the 10:30 flight home. :(
 
You'll be getting up early but free airfare is good. :thumbsup2
 
I have read that some of you ship your tools. What kind of tools are we talking here? Are we talking trimmers, scissors, crop a diles, exacto knives-that kind of stuff? Can't we just pack them in our checked luggage or will they get taken out of there? For those of you who do ship them, when and where do you send them to assure that they will be there in time? Also, how much did it cost? SO many questions... Patty
 
I ship my tools, pretty much anything that TSA might deem a weapon. Or if I have to explain what it is.
I don't check my tools for fear that they will be stolen. However Lisa has checked her tools and has never had an issue. I may check this year so I don't have to deal with shipping. I ship them about 3 days before we leave.
Right to the hotel.
And they have a business center where you can mail it back. You will need a Fed Ex account number to do it. It's not cheap! The plastic tote I use is over $75 each way.
 
I'm a little leery(sp?) of checking my stuff as well- but may divide some of it between my suitcases- just in case there is a problem with some of it. :confused3
 
I'm hoping that we can get a cheap flight for our trip soon- we probably should have booked the first day. :scared1:

The flights are pretty expensive I think. Our round trip with one stop down (in Baltimore ironically) and one stop back (again in Baltimore) came to $262. The only consolation is that we can check 2 bags free. I was hoping to hire a car so we could stop and get some supplies but now I think we are going to try and do the magical express. I am still on the fence as to what to do with my tools. I probably will take my chances and pack them. I am not cheap but this stuff adds up so quickly!

On a good note, I did book our arrival night dinner at Chef Mickeys and breakfast at 1900 Park Fare (my favorite-gotta love the strawberry soup!)
Now I just need to start kitting my pages so I can be ultra organized!
