Scratch the Ursula thing, how about things a Preggo can ride...

Thank you guys so much!! We're very excited! We have a 7 year old and have tried for two years for this one. Finally last month I told hubby I needed a break, no more clomid, no charting, no ovulation tests until after Disney and BAM that's the month it happens! God is good all the time and all the time God is good :yay:

No advice but just wanted to say congrats!!

We tried for our daughter for awhile as well and the month I gave up on Clomid conception happened right away!! Funny way how things work out.

So a couple days ago I posted about being ursula sized and wondering what I can ride...took a pregnancy test on a whim today and it was positive!!! :o Oh my gosh, talk about a game changer!!! I didn't want to tell anyone in my family yet and facebook is out so FEEL SPECIAL DISBOARDERS!!!! And anyone with preggo/ride advise, great!!!

Just wanted to say, congratulations to you!

Congratulations. Here's a link to a list of rides that should be avoided during pregnancy. Run it by your OB for their opinion. Every pregnancy is different. http://www.wdwinfo.com/pregnancy.htm

:rotfl: How old is that post? It still lists Body Wars at Epcot. o_O I think they need to update that. :D I miss that pavilion and that ride!

Congrats !!! It really does depend on how far along you are and your particular pregnancy. Have known some people early who rode everything, and some people who just walked and took in the sights ...

Enjoy :)

Womens bodies are excellent at protecting an embryo/fetus. We're not some fragile crystal ball thats going to break if we get bumped or jarred around some. There is no ride at Disney World that I could imagine causing a woman to lose her baby. For those further along in pregnancy, I'm sure there are rides at Disney that could cause you to be very uncomfortable and possibly cause issues with early delivery. Im sure plenty of women ride the rides who don't even know they are pregnant at the time. Dino is jerky, yes, but its not going to spring a miscarriage on someone who has no underlying problems already and if there is an underlying problem, you'd rather find out sooner rather than later.

Congrats on the pregnancy OP, but don't leave things out on your Disney vacation because of it. I really dislike it when people make pregnant women out to be weak, fragile creatures who can't enjoy life. That couldn't be farther from the truth.

I would imagine you feel like me, who also "worked" hard for both of my babies. I've also had some losses. No way I'd chance anything that could possibly make me wonder if it was something I did or could have not done. There are plenty of rides to keep you happy that are 100% safe-not jerky and without drops and slams. Plus, not spending time in all those thrill ride lines gives you a lot more time to take in all of the awesome ;)

Yup, unless your doctor specifies that you shouldn't do something specific and this is your first pregnancy (your body may be a little wacky)....GO FOR IT! I don't know though, I was so darn sick:crazy2: with both my pregnancies that I couldn't have done any of the roller coasters or TOT!....but then, I STILL can't do those things and my kids are 27 and 22! LOL :rolleyes1 just take care of yourself, listen to your body and HAVE FUN!

My 5 month preggo wife was able to ride the Safari with no problems.

She also did the Polar Express Ride at Seaworld with no problems either! This was December 2013, so I enjoyed using her legacy FP to get more things done quickly that she couldn't ride like BTMR and Splash within minutes of each other!

We went to WDW during both of our pregnancies, at 5 mos and 7 mos. She rode everything without any problems. She asked her doctor first and he said that she was in great shape, so the rides would not be a problem.

Advice for the safari - ride in the first row. If you tell them that you are pregnant, they will let you. It is not bumpy at all in the front.

Congratulations!

Congrats! pixiedust: Just remember with pregnancy comes a tiny bladder  So just like the kid that has to go to the bathroom once you're half way through the line that can happen a lot when you're pregnant and further along! So if you have a touring plan just make sure to have a little extra time for bathroom breaks. Also you may be more prone to nausea so while a ride may be 'safe' to ride while pregnant, it may not be comfortable for you, but you really won't know until you're almost there how this pregnancy will effect you. Good luck, talk to your OB about your trip and any concerns you have, remember forewarned is forearmed!

Exciting news. Congrats.
I see that Kilimanjaro Safari is on the don't ride list but isn't that basically like a jeep ride?

Check with your OB (gotta say that)

But I rode Safari and Big Thunder Mountain when 6 months pregnant. I skipped all other rides with pregnancy warnings. I had a great trip. Loved every minute of it. But I was in that sweet time between morning sickness and not being able to see my toes.

Congrats. So happy for you and also a little jealous. We have been trying for about 3 years with no luck.

Maybe this has been addressed, but from what I read, the reason that certain rides are listed as a 'no-go' for preggers is not because the ride itself is jerky and can lead to miscarriage, but because there's an emergency brake mechanism, that if it were triggered, can cause an immediate and very sudden stop, jamming the safety bar into your belly - which could indeed cause a miscarriage. From my research, thats what is at risk.

Congrats. So happy for you and also a little jealous. We have been trying for about 3 years with no luck.
(((hugs))) Hang in there!!! Hoping it happens for you soon!!!

To everyone else, THANK YOU!!! We're over the moon excited! I'll probably play it really conservative with rides...it's just who I am lol

Congratulations!

No advice about the rides but I will share my #1 tip for morning sickness - lemon Italian ice.

How far along will you be? I was 5 weeks pregnant at Disney several years ago and rode everything, including Expedition Everest twice in a row. I spoke to my midwives about it and no one told me I was restricted from anything I felt comfortable with. I can't imagine the Safari being a restricted ride. Maybe if you were high risk, in which case I wouldn't go to Disney at all while pregnant.

Soarin has a height restriction, but I would not avoid due to pregnancy. I would also say Test Track is within my personal comfort zone also.

Anything with g-forces (large drops) I would skip - Mission Space, Rock N Roller, Splash. Big Thunder is iffy.

Of course if something happened you would always blame yourself even if it had nothing to do with the ride, so probably best to err on the side of caution. Although I still say Soarin is perfectly safe.

My rule, which my OB said was spot on, was as soon as I was showing (uterus is no longer protected by hip bones) to ask "can I take a baby on this" If it was a yes I went on. Soarin would be an obvious exception, skipping makes no sense on that.
