My 70's in laws want to come to WDW with us. Just wondering if there are scooters of some sort that you can rent inside the parks.

Yes you can rent scooters at each park - availability is iffy during busier times. If it's an absolute necessity for their enjoyment you may be better off renting from an outside company.

Yes, you can rent them inside. And as already mentioned, you can run into the possibility of not having them available. For the last few trips, we have started renting one for DMIL from Care Medical Equipment. Our experience has been great, it is delivered to the resort and picked up from there also.

Check on the DisAbility forum for info on scooters. The scooters you can rent at the parks can only be used in the parks. If you rent from an outside company thay will deliver it to your hotel on your arrival day and pick it up on your departure day. You will have the use of the scooter anywhere you go and it is usually a little less expensive this way then daily rentals at the parks.
If you are staying on site most of disney transportation is wheelchair/scooter accessible.

Be sure to look on the DisAbility forum for all sorts of advice.

Another company in Orlando is Walker Mobility. I've worked with them repeatedly in the past for some of my clients, and have nothing but positive reviews. Decent rates, delivery and pickup at the resort, fit's into a standard room at a value or moderate and charged easily overnight.

Walker, Care and Randy's are the companies that have been recommended most by DIS posters.
One of the other advantages to renting from off-site is that the scooters from off-site are smaller and more manouverable than the ones from the parks.

If you would like to come to the disABILITIES Board, you can follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES Board.

Just thought I'd mention that it takes a little practice to use a scooter safely in a crowded park, which is another advantage of renting from an outside operator.

If they have the scooter at the resort they can take an hour or so to practice in a quiet area before attempting to "drive" in the parks.
