Scoop Sanderson leaving Main Street!!!!!

Scoop is beloved to so many, and it is with much sadness that I report that his contract was not renewed. His last full time day will be October 8th. He will be filling in when available for subs and vacations, but will no longer be there regularly.

This hurts my heart on so many levels. Scoop has been such an important part of all my trips to the Magic Kingdom since 1999, when I began pin trading. He is truly the ambassador of pin trading as well as one of the most talented of the Citizens of Main Street. He is a gem of a man, who has such a love of people, especially kiddos. He has blessed the lives of soooo many with his gifts and talents. He will be missed.

We ran into Scoop last year on Main Street and he was so great with my kiddos, prompting them to excitedly look for him in the Welcome Show when we went back this year. Sad that we won't be able to see him in the future.

I've never once run into him. How long has he been around? Was this more of his request? As someone that will help fill in in the future it doesn't sound like what he did will be gone but I can see how he did it being very much apart of that love.

Yep, that's exactly what they are eliminating - the different and special. Because first timers don't know the difference and that's who they are targeting.

When it starts costing them more pennies in lost revenue than the performers did. I am voting with my money. Disney is getting less and less of it every year.

There have been no new cast lanyard pins in almost a year. I think someone has decided pin trading is not profitable and he was a casualty of this attitude. Agree that slowly we are removing all the "Disney" from Disney parks.

When we used to pin trade we would buy the mystery pin packs at the park to trade, spending around 3-3.50 per pin. The last few trips we have used eBay and bought pins for .50 per pin and none of that money going to Disney. While trading and talking to people 90% seemed to do the same. There is no money for Disney in that.
When we first started we also traded for much better pins, people actually traded pins that are bought individually. I rarely see this now. We spent 3 weeks in Disney this summer, traded 50-60 pins and only 2 were for pins that you would buy individually, not sure if there is a specific name for that.
Now the only pins I buy at Disney I buy to keep not to trade.

That's very sad news! Scoop is an amazing character! Often seen with pulling one of those wooden dogs. His Scoop talks were famous! And I wouldn't have a Keys to the Kingdom pin if not for him.

He gave DD his special pin a couple of years ago - wrote her name on the back of it - she treasures it! Scoop created such magical memories for us and so many others!

Oh that's sad. He was wonderful with my daughter when we were there last November. He happily signed her autograph book and took pictures with her. He will be missed. These are the characters that make Disney so magical and without them Disney isn't the same.
