If you have never been then I think I would try to do both. Sharing is definitely possible!!

Chalk another one up for Sci-Fi.
Atmosphere is neat, fun, completely different and the desserts or ri-damn-diculously good!

You won't regret it!

Thanks everyone! We're going with Sci-Fi this trip.:)

I think everyone is right about the 50's theme not meaning anything to our children at their ages. :thumbsup2

Sci-Fi for sure! Even as a kid I really didn't like the "kidding/embarassment" stuff at PT.

Having been to both a few times I would say 50's primetime ..HANDS DOWN!

The atmostphere at Sci-fi is pretty good, but have found the food not so good. First time not one of us out of 6 had a decent meal, tried it a second time thinking maybe it was just a bad experience & only 1 out of 4 liked their meals.

At 50's prime time we have NEVER had a bad meal. The waitstaff having a good time with us has been "hit or miss". Just ask when you check in at podium that you would like a "lively server" or you would like to request a server that will have some fun.

IMO - Do both.

We make it a point to always make reservations for lunch at Sci-Fi. We love the atmosphere and always ask for Sarah (From England) to be our server. She is so attentive and always so happy to be a part of your group.

This past July we ate at 50's for the first time and loved it very much. The Adults had salad, app and soup. The Girls had Fried Chicken and shared the chicken with the adults, everyone had plenty to eat.

After we finished, we asked each other - Why have we not eaten there before? The food and service was very good and the décor was very entertaining for the girls.

I am attaching a You Tube link to our 50's Prime Time Dinner Video. Hope you have the time to view it.

Sci-Fi is possibly the best themed restaurant in WDW. That said, the food ranges anywhere from mediocre to awful. While the atmosphere is not as cool at 50's PT, its still a unique dining experience and the food is far better.

We would love to try Sci Fi on our next trip. Is it possible to make a res just for dessert?

The ADRs aren't tied to how much or how little you plan to order. Just make an ADR and then order whatever you want. If you do not make an ADR, it's more likely that you'll be seated at one of the patio tables in the back.

W love Sci-Fi, planning 2 visits on our next trip! 50s was a huge disappointment both times we went there. The servers were really boring and the food just ok.

I have eaten at both, but after my last experience in 2011 at Sci-Fi, I will never go back.

While waiting to be called up for our ADR (thank goodness my husband and kids were not waiting with me), I was sitting enjoying a quiet moment to myself on the bench beside the podium just inside the doorway. I happened to glance down at my shoe, and to my utter horror, saw the largest cockroach I have ever seen crawling out from under the bench! As I jumped up and away, it quickly scurried down toward the hall to the restaurant. A brave CM then ran over to the bug and tried to squash it with his foot. The roach was about half the size of his foot, so he had to stomp on it about a dozen times. Poor bug, poor CM, poor me who spent the rest of my time at Sci-Fi with my feet up in the car, squinting in the dark to check the inside of my turkey sandwich. My family had a great time, and they can't understand why I don't want to go back.

Yes it's Florida, there are bugs and snakes and swamps, but I will never, ever, go back to Sci-Fi.

BTW the food at 50's is great, so I will be going back there!

I have the same question! I will have 4 adults and a 4 and 2 year old in my party. My dad's pretty tall, so I worry about the table size at sci fi and I wonder if the darkness would bother my children. Also, the cars seem cool, but you can't talk to the other people in our party because we would be in front of each other instead of across like a normal table. BUT, the diner doesn't seem like it would be as fun for the kids. HELP!!

Although my family would choose 50s PT over Sci Fi, because of the ages of your kids I think you should do Sci Fi. That's a guaranteed cool experience because of the atmosphere. The food is fine and good for lunch, though we prefer 50s food for a hearty dinner. And DD12 loves the antics from a good server. But I know that's not always a guarantee there.

I was one of the few who voted 50s. Although we enjoyed Sci Fi (there are some fun classics on the screen) I don't really feel drawn back. The atmosphere was fun, the food was good and the service was efficient but it just isn't very personal. I kinda felt like I was sitting on a sofa, watching TV with my family. Modern kids may not "get" 50's but it's nice to sit face to face with them and talk while at the table. Plus, if you're old enough 50's is visually kinda fun, very sitcom come to life.
