Visit Time: Week of Thanksgiving 2007
First Trip to Disney World
I am going to do my best to remember what we ate, but it was such a whirl wind week I will just do my best. We are not picky eaters, but we usually eat the same thing at places, we never try new things. Our motto for this trip was Be Adventurous, Try New Foods . We also decided to each (me and DH) get a different appetizer and dessert and split them, that way we could try more foods!!
First of all we stayed at the CSR, an absolutely beautiful and fun, family resort. We could have spent the whole time at the resort, the kids loved the pool! Pepper Market was both convenient and the food was great. After a long day at the park or first thing in the morning, we would stop in, fill up our mugs and/or grab a snack or a CS meal.
Quick, Fun Food Report:
Day One: Arrived at CSR at 7:00, we knew MK stayed open until 12:00am so we decided to grab dinner at Pepper Market and then head to MK. My DH and me both got the fajita platters-excellent. Kids, just ate chicken fingers-imagine that.
Day Two: Cinderellas Royal Table for dinner. Appetizers-castle salad and vegetable spring roll, we would recommend both. Entrée- DH-Roast Prime Rib of Beef with gratin potatoes, he said it was very good. Me-Roast Lamb Chops with fingerling potatoes-excellent, my first time to ever try roast lamb chops! Kids-once again, chicken tenders! CRT catches a lot of heat, for being expensive and not so great. Was it expensive? Yes. It doesnt matter, our DD who loves Cinderella more than life, got to eat dinner in her castle and have her picture made with her. Only complaint, it did feel a little rushed, but we were starving, we didnt mind. Funny note-if you ask our children their favorite food, they will say the rolls with the butter at the castle were soooo good. Kids pick out the strangest things to like and remember.
Day Three: 1900 Park Fare. Since we ate here on Thanksgiving they served traditional Thanksgiving food (did not know that when we made reservations), but it ended up being very good and the kids did NOT eat chicken strips. The desserts were great; the kids loved the ice cream machine. The characters were absolutely wonderful; Cinderella pulled our daughter from the table so she could join a few other girls for a song and dance. It was a very fun, interactive dinner. Our waitress tried her best to keep our drinks re-filled, she had so many tables it was hard for her to keep up, but she was very nice and apologetic, so it was ok.
Day Four: Sci Fi Theater. Appetizers- our DS became adventurous and tried the tomato soup, he said it was good, but only ate a couple of bites and then gave it to me---it was excellent. Both kids ate burgers and fries, I guess they were good, they ate them. DH and I ordered onion rings, not realizing fries came with our dinner, we should have tried something new. I read so many negative reviews, I didnt really even look over the menu, I knew I was ordering a hamburger (what a wuss). DH ordered the smoked baby back ribs, he said they were great. My hamburger was really well done (almost burnt). We were so hungry, we would have eaten anything. The atmosphere was fun; the kids really enjoyed eating in the cars. Desserts-shakes and hot fudge sundae, the sundae was totally worth the kind of burnt burger.
Day Five: Coral Reef. No flames please, but does/did anyone else feel like they were entering a sixties or mob restaurant?? I chose this restaurant for my son, he loves fish and sharks. The aquarium was so neat for the kids to watch as they ate dinner. Appetizers sea and land & new England cod cake. Cod cake was ok, but the sea and land was wonderful, I wish we would have just gotten two of those. Kids both got fruit bowls. Entrée- Me-NY strip steak with potatoes au gratin, I wanted to eat seafood but was craving a steak, this was an excellent choice, perfect. DH-grilled pork chop, he said it was great, very tender. DS grilled mahi mahi, yeah he ventured from chicken strips. DD grilled chicken. They both cleaned their plates, so it must have been good. Desserts: chocolate wave-excellent and butterscotch crème brulee-good, but we dont really like butterscotch but we wanted to try it.
Day Six: Liberty Tree Tavern. Well we might not have chose here if I would have known 1900 Park Fare was serving traditional Thanksgiving meal, but I am glad we did. Looking over the menu, we kind of frowned upon the strawberry vinaigrette dressing, we eat ranch and nothing else. It has now become my official favorite dressing; it was so good---think outside the box! The food was pretty good, we did not touch the macaroni and cheese though. We were so stuffed by the time our cobbler came out, I literally could not eat one bite and my DH and DS had a couple of bites, they both said it was really good but could not eat anymore. The characters were great and came by our table a couple of times, our DD loves Minnie and Goofy, so she got a real kick out of it.
Couple of quick Counter Service reviews:
Caseys Corner-we love all that is baseball, the hot dogs were really big and good.
Toy Store Pizza Planet-great pizza and salad. It was really too much for the kids, we should have made them split their meal, we threw more than half of theirs away. Its the only place we got the Mickey head rice crispy cake.
Flame Tree Barbeque-I didnt want to complain on this review and it could have just been an off day, but it was kind of gross. The setting also added to it- rainy and people were feeding the ducks and flying white birds while they and we were eating-gross!! I was waiting for some additional white sauce to land on our sandwiches.
Most of our other CS meals were at Pepper Market, all which were great.
