Sci- Fi and plus sized?

My children want to eat at the Sci-Fi on our upcoming trip to the world. The problem is that DH and myself are plus sized. I believe I would fit in the "car" but I really don't think DH will. I know they have some tables, but are they right next to the cars? Could our 4 older children sit in a car and DH, the baby & myself sit a table? Will we be next to each other? Does anyone have any pictures of the cars & tables? Thanks for the help!

You and your hubby should be able to fit fine in the cars! I've seen plus-sized people fit in there just fine. There are some tables located near some of the cars. I personally think the cars are much cooler to sit in though! You and your hubby could try it and see, and if it was a tight fit for ya'll they would probably move you.

The cars are a snug fit. I was uncomfortable sitting in the backseat of the car holding my DS2 who was falling asleep. I just didn't have enough room to hold him in my arms. I ran outside and got his stroller to park him next to the car. He slept thru the entire meal.:thumbsup2

It's traditional booth seating. Once I put DS in his stroller I was fine. But to be honest, if you're pooh-sized, it might be a very snug fit.

There was a car next to ours that seated 6 with tables and chairs in the middle and car parts at the front and back. I think that would be much more comfortable for you. Also, at those kind of tables you can use a highchair. You have to use a booster for the cars.

My pictures didn't come out very good. The restaurant is really dark.

I'm sure someone has a photo of the car for you.

I am 'Pooh-sized' and love Sci Fi ! I don't have a problem at all. If you are concerned, there is one of the cars out front of the restaurant. Give it a try !

I've been to Sci- Fi about 3 times. I'm sure you and your husband will fit fine in the cars. There pretty big.

I've been wondering this as well, so I'm glad the OP asked! My DH doesn't fit comfortably in a standard booth at our local restaurants, so how does Sci Fi compare?

Not sure if this will help, but I am a women's size 26. We ate there in March without an problem.

Have a great trip :)

I don't think the Sci-fi booths are as tight of a fit as some restaurant booths.

Here's a picture our waiter took while we were there in Dec:

Here's a better picture of the room for seating:

Our waiter also took this picture for us:

As you can see, my DH and I are both pooh sized and we both fit without a problem. Granted we weren't moving all over the place, but we were able to sit there and eat our meals comfortably.

HTH!

That car looks roomier than the car we had. We had a car for 4, two rows. The seating was a little a narrower.

When we ate at Sci-Fi in February there was a "pooh sized" man who was unable to fit in the car booth. I felt so sorry for him as he was clearly embarrassed.

I would maybe ask for one of the "cars" that are tables instead of booths. Not quite as cool as the regular cars, but better than the picnic tables.

Good luck!
