School Supplies - printer for a laptop??

My son starts high school this year.

He has his own laptop and I am trying to figure out if it would be a good idea to get him his own printer for the laptop. He is going to be having a lot of essays, etc. to print this year, and I think it may be easier for him to be able to have everything set up at his desk.

Does your high schooler have their own "media" center at their desk? Would you recommend it?

He is not the most organized person, and I am trying to get everything together for him before school starts to help him be as successful as he can as he starts high school.

I bought a wireless printer for my household. Whether someone is on the laptop, netbook or desktop they can print from anywhere in the house. That way I only have one printer to buy toner for, one place to keep all the printer paper and one space being taken up with the printer. So far it's worked great and I haven't had any issues with it.

If he isn't very organized, adding another large object to his desk probably isn't going to do him any favors.

I have a HP LaserJet P1006 for my secondary printer. Its fast, but black only and it works great and is hooked up to my router. If all he needs is a printer only, I would recommend a black laser printer instead of a 4 in 1.

These days with many households having multiple computers, I like the idea mentioned of a wireless (or wired network) printer, rather than printers on individual computers.
