Schmucks at Disney?

Thank you for sharing the pic! You two are lovely -- and your dress in particular is to die for! :lovestruc

DW and I would *love* to tie the knot at WDW someday .... still choking on the price ;) and going over our options. But it just seems like it would be worth it, and a dream come true. Please do share more pics with us. I can't wait to see them! :goodvibes

As to the OT, DW and I have yet to have a negative experience, and we DO hold hands, walk arm in arm, etc. We've even kissed on occasion, but we keep that to a bare minimum. We've always felt completely comfortable, even validated, at WDW. It's definitely our home away from home.

Honestly, the ending (the jerk being escorted out and you two receiving a profuse apology) is lovely. Disney is so awesome. That's the reason you two chose to tie the knot there, after all. :cloud9:

Congratulations! It looks like it was a beautiful wedding!!! I'm sorry you ran into a Schmuck - wet raspberry to him:snooty:

I haven't had a similar situation but I just wanted to say Congrats! What a beautiful picture. I love your dress!

I'm also very pleased that Disney got rid of the idiot.

congrats on your wedding- i did read about the incident here somewhere as well...no clue where tho?? lol...but if i come back across it, i will let you know...love the pic, im going to read more about your wedding now...id LOVE to have a disney wedding...its just talking dgf into the idea ;) i think right now i have her talked into castaway cay at least... :D

Just because you do not agree with him it does not make him less intelligent.

Yes it does. ;)

An intelligent person would know that standing up in a crowded restaurant and beginning to yell no matter what your opinion is not something that is proper to do. He has every right to have any ignorant, bigoted misconceptions he wants, but behavior like that really separates the intelligent from the neanderthals.

Wait, you didn't get married in flannel and Birkenstocks? Are you sure you two are really gay?

KIDDING KIDDING, I know you must have been wearing flannel under the dress. :D

Congratulations! ;)

You did both look wonderful! If I were wearing a dress, I would wear your dress ;)

Been cathing up with your PJ too, its so long! but getting there!

Oh, and by all means, make this thread about your wedding! You're allowed to hijack your own threads, and it's such a much more positive thing.

We should ask for a gay and lesbian wedding subforum! Not that the ladies on the wedding board aren't lovely, but we come with our own unique planning issues.

One of the things I'm loving about our wedding is that we don't have the added expense of a dress, accessories, hair and make-up, you got it times two.

For $3K, the dress is yours! Funny, because I always thought it would be harder for two guys. Whenever we went to any weddingy place, they never asked about the groom. Apparently, men don't matter in straight weddings. I imagine you guys get many more weird looks.

Yes it does. ;)

Flannel in Orlando? In June? As if! And my mom vetoed the vegan hiking boots. She was paying, so what could I do?

My brother did wear the rainbow Mickey pin (he's much cuter in person and with his eyes open, I promise, if any of you Dis guys are shopping for an 18 year old):

And our color palette (as hard as we resisted) was a little Rainbow Bright (bright orange, lime green, electric blue, hot pink, sunshine yellow):

The guy was not a schmuck because he's anti-gay. He's totally entitled to his beliefs, just as I'm entitled to think he's a homophobic schmuck. But what made him a schmuck was ruining dinner for the 100 or so people in the restaurant, and trying to tell strangers how to run their lives. To me, nice people--whatever their personal beliefs on homosexuality--don't do that.

Congrats!!!!! You two are adorable and I wish you both the best!

I've only had one incident in WDW with a really racist man. [I know he was racist because his 4 year old daughter was in a confederate flag shirt...]
I was walking down Main St having a conversation with my friends and I accidently bumped into his little girl and said "Oh goodness, I am so sorry! Are you ok?" She looked at me and smiled and said yes and I said "Okay, have fun!" And her father freaked out and started calling me a stupid ****, followed by a bunch of other insults on my intelligence and such.
Someone stopped him and told him to relax and I then ran away haha.

Sorry that happened to you on your special day though. Not cool!

hey there I first wanna say Congrats thats so exciting!

and also want to say sorry for the ignorance of this world! if straight people can share a public display of affection so can you. Most children aren't paying attention to people they don't know in Disney while they have the sights of so many other exciting things ( in there eyes). Adults to me some times take everything a little too far! not everything is black and white and everyone has there own taste!

I am straight but have quite a few gay friends and I have never once seen them as anything but my friends and just another person! I don't get our society and the hatred that everyone holds against at least one type of person or another! I just hope that this ignorance didn't ruin your happy day!!!

I know it is hard but just try and forget the insanity of the world and live in your love!

again CONGRATS!! I am truly happy for you!!!!

As I see it the "man" is question was just being called out oh how people saw him. And being that I read a strangers take on the same exact incident in question I would call this person much worse!

Ok back to the wedding issue....I tried reading you report on the wedding boards. I didn’t get far because a horribly bad, offensive word popped out at me!! You are a pats fan!! :scared1: Sorry I could read no further! I am very glad that your girlfriend is at least a Giants fan( I am big time Steelers!!) Ok I am kidding….a little. :goodvibes I am reading through it at work so it will take me some time. popcorn::

I love the pictures you added. The cake is great! As for the flannel, Do we still wear that? The birks, well I have a pair on now so I guess I cant laugh.

Mazal Tov on the wedding!!!

I'm sorry you had to witness the shmuck's stupidity, but I'm glad everything else went well.

CONGRATS!! Your wedding pictures are GORGEOUS! Thanks for posting. Please share more pics when you have time.

That picture on the bridge is one of the most beautiful wedding pics I've ever seen.

xoxoxoxoxo

Well, I think you're right there about it being harder for gay guys, I think we still get more looks and people tend to be threatened by our sexuality, where as most people tend to think lesbians are hot or cute (both true in your cases :goodvibes ). On the bright side I take comfort in knowing we still pay women less money than men to do the same job, so it all balances out! Right?

This is totally a woman focused industry! I guess men don't care, but I care! Although I think in most relationships there is someone that falls into roles. I'm worried about planning and calling 30 florists, he's focused on how we're going to pay for the wedding. I'm just trying to not make it look like Martha Stewart threw up all over our wedding.

Be Careful about offering out your 18 year old brother to a bunch of ..... I digress :lmao:

AND Finally, I love your cake! I was thinking of doing something very similar colorwise, to tie in more with our color scheme, and I love the little Mickeys!

Did someone say he wasn't entitled to an opinion?

Are you *seriously* defending his behavior? Or saying that calling him a "schmuck" is in any way comparable to what he did to them? He earned that name. Actually.... he earned other names too, but they're not appropriate for a family friendly board.

I still can't believe you actually defended him..... :sad2:

I was hoping we were all going to ignore that comment, though I guess not. I understand where this person is coming from in terms of escalating a situation and turning the other cheek, but that does not apply in this situation. The guy was a schmuck, case closed. How would it be acceptable if I were racist and started yelling at an Asian family in a restaurant because I was still upset over Pearl Harbor?

Simply unacceptable.

Um, the Steelers? Booo. (You can tell we're lesbians because we're arguing about football on a wedding thread). Let me guess, Phillies too?

I guess, but we can always earn extra cash by making out for straight men. Surprisingly reliable source of income.

And thank you to everybody for all the congrats/mazel tovs! I'll post more pictures as soon as I get them from the photographer.

Ha ha True!! No phillies , I am from Pittsburgh so its Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Passion!! Gotta love the balck and gold!

pixiedust: pixiedust: I generally just lurk on this site to hear what you guys have to say because our 19 year-old son just came out to us about 2-3 months ago...and I've enjoyed reading what folks have to say on a variety of topics and issues. And in addition to some insight I receive and help you may not know, you guys crack me up. :lmao:

Ok, so I just had to write and say congratulations...how awesome! You both looked so beautiful.

Maybe we'll get to attend a gay wedding at Disney when/if my son ever gets to that point in his life...one can wish, right?!? pixiedust:

We're actually all going in October to celebrate my husband and my 20th wedding anniversary...19 y.o. and 8 y.o. son's in tow. It wouldn't be a celebration without them. :yay:

Again, congratulations...all the best.

Since others are getting off topic here, I guess that I can too in my response to this. Even gays seem willing to believe that they know what gays look like. I have a lesbian friend who has a hard time attracting women, and I know that she is not unattractive because men ask her out all of the time. Ginny is feminine and and beautiful. I am thinking that maybe that is the problem, although being a little more aggressive might help too.

I wouldn't assume that because the little girl in the park was wearing a Confederate flag that her father was a no-good bigot either. I would assume that they were southerners. For me to insult that flag is like my telling them what I really think of deep fried anything, which I can't stand. Those would be fighting words to someone who believes that there is a southern culture they don't want to see die out. I think to them it is like saying that because I have a flag of Norway in my home I therefore disrespect the U.S. flag, which is also here in the room.

Back to the topic at hand. I think the wedding sounded lovely, except for that one man. I am grateful that I am not the daughter he mortified that day. If he is that rude to strangers, who don't have to take it, I wonder how he treats his family who is forced to put up with more from him because he is a relative.

Congrats to the Happy Couple and please do post more pics......how exciting to get married at WDW for the two of you... Bravo!!!!

Just had quite the shmuck experience of my own this am so my sympathies are TOTALLYwith you and your wife. So sorry that this happened at such a special event in your life. :sad1:

I read about this somewhere but had no idea it involved you and Angela. I've been following and contributing on your PJ but not caught up with your TR yet.

The wedding looked great and you were both stunning. It is sad that people like that man feel the need to voice an opinion in such a way and I really feel for you both, especially at such a happy time
