Maybe I shouldn't say this while emotions are already getting heated, but I noticed the racial comparisons to homosexuality. I really do think that gays are more vulnerable to bigotry. If I am accused of racism, I can expect to be presumed guilty until proven guilty. If the accused has any money, Je$$e Jack$on and Reverand $harpton will be along soon when they smell a free meal. Yet even here in San Francisco, which is supposedly so "progressive" toward gay rights, gay bashers have their defenders, even when they have inflicted physical injuries.

By the way I think that I can be fairly objective about this because I live with a man, and our wedding certificate doesn't say that I am Party A or Party B. It says that I am the bride.

Back to the topic at hand. I think the wedding sounded lovely, except for that one man. I am grateful that I am not the daughter he mortified that day. If he is that rude to strangers, who don't have to take it, I wonder how he treats his family who is forced to put up with more from him because he is a relative.

I grew up with a step-father who certainly thought like the man in question and no doubt would have reacted the same way had he ever been in a similar situation.

Hard to believe but he (step-father) treated his family even worse. And he wonders why I don't visit. . .

The guy was not a schmuck because he's anti-gay. He's totally entitled to his beliefs, just as I'm entitled to think he's a homophobic schmuck. But what made him a schmuck was ruining dinner for the 100 or so people in the restaurant, and trying to tell strangers how to run their lives. To me, nice people--whatever their personal beliefs on homosexuality--don't do that.

You are exactly right. He does separate himself from intelligent beings just by the fact that he stood up spouting off like that.
and what kind of an example does it set for his child to see him do that?? i just don't get it. I am so glad to hear he was escorted out!

Sunny can I just say I saw the word SCHMUCK in the title and I had to read this post not even realizing it was by you! I only hear this word in two places: your PJ and Harry from Sex and the City!

Reading about this incident again made me cry. Sunny I'm so upset about this and I'm really glad that it seems as though not too many others have run into problems at Disney.

The comic relief is much better here than on the wedding board, we have goats with gas, people falling downstairs, and every fifteen minutes we drop what we're doing and do the chicken dance. None of that happens on the wedding board.
