Scared & need your thoughts -DD is getting notes

I couldn't read all these responses, but I just read the update on page 6. OMG!!! I would have to keep my daughter home. That is just too frightening. I'd be calling the police too ASAP. That's too much for a fourth grader. I have a third grader and to think this kind of thing goes on is terrifying. I hope this is resolved quickly and peacefully.

.... Whatever her reason- she came here for support and constructive ideas- not harshness. Say what you need to, but please, try to say it with some compassion.
I agree. Let's not make her feel bad so she wishes she had not asked for the help and support. Now it is in the hands of officials so we will all just be supportive observers.... :goodvibes

ETA: It seems as tho' the whole school knows about this situation, or at least everyone is DDs class, and yet today another note appears! I think this is definitely the work of a child. Or, let's say, a not-very-bright person!!

Some background on the quotes possibly a way to figure out which kid it is???

One of dh's friends believes they came from the game Everquest, the original edition of the game released several years ago. They are almost verbatim quotes from a sub-adventure in the game into the underground city of the dark elves. Even the "N" signature comes straight from the game. The full name of the character is something along the lines of Nezzka Tolax.

Maybe somehow this will help them figure out which kid it is.
Hopefully this info can help out.

To the OP....I've been following this since you first posted. I won't be able to read your updates after today since we'll be leaving for WDW Saturday (I'm off tomorrow to prep).

But I wanted to say I'll have your family in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure you and your husband are doing all that parents can and should and I hope you have felt the concern and support of all of us here.

I'll hope that when I get back from vacation and check this thread there will be a positive resolution!

What the OP needs is support, ideas and comfort - not someone to chime in and tell her she's being a bad parent.

Please re-read my post. I never said anyone was a bad parent!! (Is someone putting words in my mouth? :confused3 ) I am concerned and frightened for this child beyond belief!!! I was merely stating my opinion, which is allowed. I stand by what I said before -- if it were my child, I would have gone to the police the same day.

Obviously, when the OP posted, she was looking for the ideas of others. I have emailed others to try and solve the mystery of the words on the notes. Unfortunately, I was unable to provide any help by asking people who play major computer games.

My thoughts are with the OP and her daughter. I hope they get this nightmare solved quickly and safely. The child's safety is the most important issue here.

As a teacher of fourth grade....I find this sooo disturbing that someone around this age level is doing this to another child. Most of them are really not this forward or this confrontational. If I were the teacher, and maybe this teacher is doing this already, I would be keeping a tight ring on my class, this child and the classroom. How is this person getting to her bookbag? When they are in a different classroom, is the room being locked? With this last note, it sounds as if it is a student in the school and is close to being caught- since he/she is making threats "..being killed".
I pray for your situation, for your fear, your child's safety and for a conclusion to be found soon. I just can't imagine why someone would target your dd and to this level. If found....I hope that the most severe punishment is granted- with our new "NO BULLYING POLICY". I have 0 tolerance for disrespect, threats or such things as this. I am glad the administration is supportive and that the police are not taking this lightly (since it is elementary level).
Please keep us posted on this. Keep your child home for a couple of days until more investigation is done- this would defintely be considered excused in my book. And they should agree...NOONE should be subjected to this kind of cruelty at school. How could anyone be productive, motivated or learning when they are terrified of the next day? Prayers go out to you!!

I think we can all consider ourselves new parents - we face new situations every day for which we have had no formal training.

I fully agree that we all face new situations every day but that wouldn't be something I consider to be a "new parent." I would consider that to be a "new experience for a parent" but not a "new parent."

Just my 2 cents worth.

Like I said before, this child's safety is the most important issue here.

It looks like a teacher would be able to tell the handwritting of one of her students and narrow it down that way.

Gumpy - My post was an attempt to diffuse the sarcasm directed by you toward a poster who is trying to reasssure the OP. Maybe the definition of who is a "new parent" would be a good topic for another thread.

DD teacher is a mess.It is not her. I have known her for years and she would never dream of doing this. She has not been given copies of the notes so we are doing that for Monday for her. There are some very distinctive things on the note such as the comma's are like backward C's.
Tomorrow is a PD day (thank god)
And yet nother note surfaced today. (so that's 2 today)The principal was walking by the classroom and found it.
We have asked that a camera be installed in the hall.
This kid will slip up at some point.

By the way it HAS BEEN reported to the police. I need support not criticism.

I would like to thank the people who have PM'd me with thought's and ideas and just moral support.
Thank you :grouphug:

I agree with others that something still is not adding up.

I would not rule anything out!

1. The DD could be doing it herself. And, the note on the other sweater could be an effort to diffuse the situation, and confuse everyone.

2. Could be the teacher. Never know....

3. The fact that these notes are being taped to items is very interesting to me. Tape is the PERFECT fingerprint collecter!!! Pencil lead and kid-grime on fingers would automatically leave a VERY definate fingerprint in/on the tape. Would this person actually be wearing gloves??? Why has this not been looked into??? (PS: tape is abundant in most classrooms.....)

4. As far as fingerprints... The perfect alibi for the teacher. Her fingerprints would be there because she was given the notes, and handled them.

5. I would agree that if it was one of the classmates, it would be a kid who was very rare who could pull of these kinds of notes. The teacher would know.... She would know who simply could, and who could not, pull off something like this.

6. The idea of putting the backpack behind the teachers desk... as the other poster said... STUPID. You have to leave out some bait to catch someone. Who's bright idea was this. Was it the teachers??? And, yet, while the backpack was put away, more notes mysteriously appear.

7. And now, the Principal just happens to be walking by the classroom and 'finds' another note... :confused3
It is so interesting that her husband is with the police force. Nobody else may 'get' this, but it would go along the lines of the phenomenon of Firemen being Arsonist.

8. I am sure that the school system or the police department would have a camera available. Yet, this still hasn't been set up?

Also, I agree with everyone else here. I would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER trust the school to protect my child. I hardly even trust them to teach and care for my child at all!!! As other posters here have mentioned, from their OWN personal experience, the schools are looking out for themselves. They do NOT want the police involved.

It would not have gotten this far without me pulling my child out of school and filing my own report with the police!!!!

Who has all the notes/evidence??? I would have IMMEDIATELY made sure that it was all presented to the police. How many people have handled these notes, or had the opportunity to alter or lose them??? This requires more than a visit by the school resource officer. I would have a police investigator involved, like yesterday.

It makes NO difference that the police have been notified.... Big Whooop. Until the OP files her own complaint, then big deal... nothing.. nothing has happened. I still have not heard that the police have done anything at all.

If the OP has not personally filed a complaint, then I am with everyone else here... she is being negligent.

Wait, I'm confused. Are you saying that the teacher hasn't viewed the letters?

I'm wonder that good a camera in the hall is going to do. Why not in the classroom? Are Ontario's privacy rights against being recorded without concent strong? In the US children have virtually no privacy rights, especially in school.

What do yesterdays and todays notes say?

You keep stating that you are "With Everyone Else here". Well, you're certainly not "with" me. If you bothered to read everything the OP has stated you will see they have filed with the police and it is being handled as it needs to be.

Quite frankly I am surprised time and time again at how this 'community' of people can just turn on each other especially in situations where the only thing warranted is support and positive feedback. It is rude to accuse someone who comes here looking for support of being 'negligent'. How is that supportive and how does that help the situation? This thread is full of speculation, some of which has been helpful and some of which has been terribly rude.

I am very sorry to the OP if she takes offense.
That is not my intent.
I feel very sorry that this is happening!!!
I have not 'turned' on anyone here. Not at all.
My intent is to forward my thoughts and some strong advice!!!

However, yes many posters here have said the same things and asked the same questions that I have. I am not alone. I have had PM's supporting my post.

The OP says that she is scared and is "asking for our thoughts". And, these are my thoughts. I would have gone directly to the police. At this point, I would be at the police station, making sure that the school resource officer has indeed submitted this case to the appropriate department, and that it is being given the utmost attention.

Simply discussing this with the school resource officer may not be the same thing as filing an official complaint and involving a police detective.
edited to add: The OP has still never stated that she has, quote, "filed a report/complaint". Have she and her DH actually signed anything?

If there is a true threat to this little girl, then it is imperitive that this case is handled appropriately, and not mishandled.

Until the police actually take action, take possesion of the evidence, set up a camera, provide security for the girl, etc... then nothing has happened. Nothing at all.

Ya, why would someone be offended at being called negligent

Tantor, I'm sorry you and your family are going through this. I hope the police and the school can help your daughter.

JMHO, but it is very possible that the OP doesn't want to reveal everything. This could turn into a criminal case, in which giving away certain things here could damage the case.

To the OP, you are the only one here who knows you DD and her school. I'm sure you are doing what is best for her. My thoughts are with you and your family. Let's hope this is solved soon so that you can enjoy the holidays in peace.
