Heather - I am so sorry about Kate! Is it Giardia? That's pretty easy to get from bodies of water, under chlorinated pools/hot tubs etc. It can last a while, but the antibiotics should help. Did they do a stool culture to confirm?

Oh, Heather -how about doing some tie dye with Kate while she's home? She could do t-shirts, pillow cases, socks? My kids love to tie dye! They should have been born 25 years ago - they would have a great wardrobe to go following the Greatful Dead around.

Giardia is one of the ones she mentioned. Maybe I need to reevaluate the chemicals in the hottub. I think I have been adding enough of the right chemicals but maybe it has been off. She also played in water in the street(inspite of me warning her not to) not that long ago so maybe that was it. They didn't do any testing this time because she didn't want to wait for results in order to treat her and that even if that wasn't it, it shouldn't hurt her.

The doctor also said that if she didn't improve through the weekend, to bring her back for more testing. She just didn't want to put Kate through bloodwork and stool cultures when this medicine had great chance of working.
She said she would do the testing first if that would make me more confortable but I was all for trying the meds first. I hope I didn't make another mistake.

I think tie dye would be fun, too. I have actually never tie dyed anything before.

I know we have test strips for our pool that shows us what our chemical levels are, but not any bacteria in the water.

I checked online and some testing is expensive. I have test strips for the chlorine levels too. I think I will just shock it and not let anyone use it until this is all over. Also, when I was reading about Giardia, it said to not swim if you ahve had it for 2 weeks after symptoms stop. So, the hot tub is out of commision until further notice Maybe that isn't the problem but it makes me feel like I am doing something.

Heather I hope the meds make Kate feel better sooner rather than later. How scary all this must be for you as the parent. Hang in there my friend and hopefully by the weekend it will all be over.

We had some really bad weather come through our area last night. Heather how did you do in Texas? We are in for round two this morning.

I don't know how bad the weather was last night...I know it rained. And the weather was terrible yesterday during the day either...it rained but that was it.

Joey got sick again last night so I will be taking him back to the doctor today.


How bad was the weather, Tricia? Did you have any damage?

No damage but we got 5 inches of rain. It should start up again in an hour or so.

I wonder if Joey has the same parasite as Kate. You are having a tough week.

I think the doctor will give him the same medicine. This is so strange. He was sick 4 days last week, then he was better for a few days, then he was sick on Tuesday, but better yesterday morning, and then sick last night I don't get it.

Is this your kids' last week of scool? or do they ahve one more?

I had my first gain. I gave myself a good pepp talk and went to my meeting. I have to realize that this is a journey with ups and downs. This week didn't feel good at all when I weighed in. I hope that kicks my butt in gear to not have another any time soon.

Tricia~I'm glad you're not getting discouraged. You know that whatever you've gained will come right off and next week I'm sure you'll have lost that weight plus more!!

Judi~I haven't actually put anything in the suitcase yet. Unfortunately, anything that you bring out of the closet including the suitcase will be covered in fur within 5 minutes!! So I have some small piles in my closet just waiting to be packed.

Hi girls! How is everyone doing?

Tomorrow is the big day!

Judi, yes I have begun packing. I started me a packing list a few days ago and last night I packed most of the clothes, and the Wicked tickets, and the hag gifts. Tonight I will do the rest!

I am grouchity today, my students are really chapping my cheeks. They listen to me but not to my assistant and she is constantly asking me to step in with behavior issues instead of handling them herself. Drives me batty. Not to mention she is a 50's-ish romanian lady who is hard of hearing so she is always LOUD and complainy. 'Tain't pleasant.

I'm ready for a weekend of fun!

Tricia, sorry you gained this week. Remember muscle weighs more than fat you are just getting more muscular. American Gladiators watch out! You'll get them next week. Yours will be a fruity drink with an umbrella.

The entire family is now on the same meds so hopefully in a couple of days the infirmary will be closed! For some reason, Scott is the only one not sick. hmmmmmm...coincidence? or foulplay??

Good morning, Sassies! Am I the first one up? I have to get out early today because my team teacher is coming in late this morning and I need to get things set up on my own. But, in honor of our Fondue-eating-Wicked-Hag sisters, I thought I would throw out this QOTD.

What US city would you most like to visit? At the moment, I would pick San Diego. I have always wanted to go there - I'd love to see that zoo! Plus, the weather is nearly perfect. I thought about choosing Seattle but I don't think I could take the gloomy weather. What about you?

Tonight Kendall has her end of the year Sixth Grade Dance. How cute is that? New dress, new shoes, but I draw the line at getting her hair done. It's 6th grade for crying out loud. Some of her friends are doing that. What will they have to look forward to when they get older if they do all that now? She'll be changing school next year to the Jr. High. Oh, my little girl is growing up.
