Sassy Somethings - Happy November

Good morning, Sassies! I am freezing my patootie off here! It's 48 degrees and the high is only 60! Whatever happened to my Indian summer?

Glad the family is feeling better, Becca! I gotta run - the little ones are calling and I am afraid I must answer.

Becca, that crud has been in the school for a month now.

Your poor friend. Are they OK? I hear those bites are painful, not to mention your clothing and luggage are infested. We need the scoop, cause that is a growing problem.

Good morning sassies!

Becca, Mark has had a sore throat for a couple of days now. No other signs of a cold but now I'm scared. :scared: Kendall's got the sniffles so I'm sure it will be making the rounds soon.

I can't wait to hear about your trip and see the pictures. I'm glad you are feeling better. It stinks to be sick at all but to be sick at Disney is just not fair. :flower3:

Tricia, That's what Mark has. Mr. Judi has had it since Tuesday as well. He's the last in the house. The best OTC, I've found for it is Theraflu "Flu & Sore throat". I have a mask to wear, if I have to go to Mom's and all doctor visit for her have been put off for a bit.

It acts like mono, you need to sleep alot.

I, too am sitting here shivering, wondering what happened to my summer!

Yee-haw! Save a horse... You know the rest!

Good morning Sassies! It is definitely fall around here. I fear the time for turning the furnace on is close at hand. I heard on the news that natural gas bills will go up about $40 a month. Great, another price hike.

Judi, that is exactly how it started. I think Justin picked it up before we left since he started feeling bad on Saturday. I wiped to whole hotel room down with clorox wipes and lysoled what I could. My friend was at the Ramada near Animal Kingdom, no wonder it was such a good deal. I felt so bad for her, she took her boys without her dh since he had to work and she had one fiasco after the other. Hope you all get over this bug soon!

Sounds like you did everything you could-- there's just no winning w/ cold viruses. Your poor friend! Is she a WDW hater now?

Yup. Germ season is in full swing-- just got a note yesterday from Riley's preschool telling us that someone in his class has Strep. Lovely.

As for bedbugs... they're the pits! We have friends who've been battling them for months to the tune of thousands and thousands of dollars (they thought they brought them home from a trip). Turns out, their NEIGHBORS (townhouse) have what the exterminator claims to be, "the worst infestation I've ever seen." The neighbors were just living with them! Piles of dead ones in corners, every single piece of furniture & bedding invested. Didn't matter what our friends did-- they were just migrating on over.:scared1:

Big, big lawsuit going on now.

Good morning sassies!

Hopefully it doesn't turn into anything more!

Shannon, I don't know how anyone could live with them!!! That is just nasty beyond comprehension to me. But, I can't stand any bug in the house. Hope Riley escapes the strep germ.

Tricia, hope Mark feels better soon! Schools are such breeding grounds for germs and I'm sure my kids don't wash their hands as well as they could during school hours.:scared:

Judi, hope Mr. Judi feels better soon. I hope this is the only thing I get this winter. How is mom feeling?

My friend still loves Disney, but she says she learned her lesson and will only stay on Disney property. It was one thing after another with this hotel. She came home and put all her suitcases in the shed until she could clear out the freezer then she put everything in the freezer. I don't know how long she has to leave stuff in the freezer, but if it works its worth is. I wonder if her luggage could have infested someone elses on the plane. That would irritate me. Thats another thing I checked out before I brought anything into our room just in case.

I never even thought about the hitch-hiking suitcases. That just helped my I hate flying brain.

When are you bouncing back?

We are bouncing back Sept 18-26th. But I may add another day since I really want to drive instead of flying.

Prince Caspien was a hottie!

Lunch at Sci Fi, I know lots of people hate it, but we enjoy it. We only order burgers though.

There are a few of my 500 pictures. I haven't gotten my photopass cd yet, I think there were about 100 on there too.

Shannon, how can you just live with em.:scared1:

Trust me, I have NO idea! Our friends literally dealt w/ this for the better part of a year-- even lived in a hotel for a while. What makes it even more awful is that they had their 1st baby in the middle of this issue, and ended up having to bring him home to a hotel rather than his house, and had to throw away all of the stuffed animals & bedding they received at baby showers. It kind of put a damper on the new baby experience!

The way they found out about it being the neighbors? She saw an exterminator leaving the neighbor's house and started badgering him. He told her that he had never, ever seen anything like the neighbor's house. The family is from India, and there are quite a few of them living there, so my only guess is that they haven't been here long enough to
A. realize that's not how the average suburban family lives in this country
or B. Just don't have enough $ to address the issue.

Either way, it's plain disgusting!

Thanks! Me too! He's had this lingering cough/wheezing for a few weeks, but he tends to get that for most of the winter. Dr. thinks he's transitioning from having viral asthma (only when he's sick) to just regular all-the-time asthma. And I hear ya on the kids washing their hands at school. I'm sure if it's done at all, it's the 2.2 second "rinse" that does absolutely nothing!

I'm glad your friend isn't completely put off on the Disney experience. It breaks my heart when people go and have something bad happen, and then never want to return! That stinks that she has to go through so much trouble to freeze luggage, but tell her my little story about our friends-- she'll realize that it's completely worth it!!!

Becca, great pictures :woohoo:

Shannon, I'll just keep my single family dwelling. You know, cutting grass isn't all that bad. Your poor friends

Love the pictures Becca.

Do any of you have a Disney Visa? I just got a 5X rewards card in the mail. It's for the purchase of gas for October, November and December. :thumbsup2 My SUV drinks the stuff so I'll be cashing in before our trip in May.

All this talk of bedbugs has me itching. :scared:

here Tricia, I'll just scare the itch away. Best find of the day so far :lmao:

Used to have one-- loved it, but now we just have one, only for emergencies. I still think, since we're fiscally responsible, that we should use it for everything & pay it off each month, but DH is too afraid of that. I just keep telling him how much "free" stuff we could be earning for the same amount of $ we're already spending.

10/2 - Very Cold For Two Nights
No basic change is expected in our weather over the next 24 hours or so. Certainly the next two nights will be cold with the slight chance of mixed precipitation, a little wet snow, at higher elevations and away from the lake shore. Lows tonight drop into the 30-40 degree.

I fear we may be trick or treating in the snow instead of the rain this year! I'm trying to convince Brendan to be Santa Claus for Halloween.

I saw a little girl as a Christmas tree one year. Too Cute.

Dear Santa Brendan, I have been good........................

Happy Friday!

Judi, did anyone in your family lose their voice after they recovered from this bug? Justin is feeling great, but his voice is almost gone. Weird if you ask me!

Moi, so far I the only one with the weird voice.

It comes and goes :confused3 Becca, I was even at the doctor's with this cause it felt like strep. Cole had a mild case, Mr Judi hasn't lost his voice yet.
I've had it since Sept. 21st.
