Sarilas' O-fficial Pre-Trip Report (a.k.a. Vacation, Take TWO!) - Jan. 30-Feb. 8, '09

My family is pretty into Japanese food, but Kyle and DH both love sushi where as Tatiana, Stasia and I are more into the hibachi style... We go out to eat fairly often at a place here locally with a teppanyaki grill, so again that's something we could almost do anytime... I'll have to do some restaurant research. Ugh.

My next suggestion for the Epcot day meal would be to take the boat from Epcot to the Boardwalk area. That opens up all the restaurants at the Beach Club, Yatch Club, Boardwalk area, and the Swan and Dolphin. (I'm actually thinking about this myself for our Epcot day)

You know I hadn't considered the boat.. I wonder if I want to risk potentially cold weather and an open boat with all the kids though...

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Restaurant research is my favorite! :cloud9:

Sometimes I think I'm going just for the food.:rotfl:

I second that!

I have thrown myself so fully into the restaurant research up until now that I'm just burnt out! I have every dining book made for the past year, I have all the sites bookmarked... my brain has officially shut DOWN! :rotfl:

Hi! I thought I'd put in a suggestion for the Boma replacement. Spoodles at the BW is awesome! The food is great, and the place is very family-friendly. My boys loved the boat ride too! Actually, the boat has plastic covers on the "window" area so it is technically not open (unless you ride in the open area in the aft).

If you don't want to leave Epcot, then I suggest doing the Akershus dinner for the girls (All those lovely Princess in ballgowns!! :goodvibes - The food is blah, though :( ), then the boys could go to Teppan Edo. That is, if splitting up is OK with everyone. ;)

IMHO, if you're not comfortable having the babysitters watch the little ones, I think the wise choice would be to cancel Cali Grill. O'hana is super fun for dinner, I'd try to go there instead. There are other great suggestions here, and to add to the merry mix, how about the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL? You'll have to catch the boat to get there.

How I wish I had your dilemma! :rotfl:

I hadn't thought about Spoodles... I'm still so unfamiliar with the location of everything in WDW that I don't know what's accessible to what and from where! It's good to know that the boats are semi-covered- all I could picture was everyone catching a cold from a boat ride to dinner! :rotfl:

I know that DH definitely wants everyone to stick together; he's more excited than even I am to see the girls experience all those wonderful 'firsts'. Akershus is something I'd originally planned as a lunch... I may need to rethink that...

I was looking at your itenerary again and see that you have Raglan Road for the 1st day. The food there is so good! I personally loved the scallop forest appetizer--YUM! I also tried the bangers and mash entree, and I thought it was very delish! :thumbsup2

The whole family is really excited about trying lots of different cuisines while we're there- this one is my son's big choice!

TODAY IS 80 DAYS TILL DISNEY!

I've spent the day wrapping presents and making cupcakes for my daughter, whose 10th birthday is tomorrow! I cannot BELIEVE it, honestly!

Between Tatiana's birthday and our Wonderland party on Saturday... I'm up to my eyeballs in 'schtuff'!

Okay Heidi---I was going to say Happy 80 Days, but my celebration was nowhere near as good as yours!!! That was FANTASTIC!!!!

Lara--yeah....what she said!!!! ;o) Happy 80--before you know it, it will be 70, then 60, then 50, then..,........you probably get the idea!!! YEAH FOR YOU!!!!!!

Thanks, all!

Yes I'm SO looking forward to these days flying by - I really can't wait for the 50 day mark so I can break out the Mickey head calendar and have that tangible countdown going on!

Happy FRIDAY!

Not quite the same effect as "happy 80 days" but hey, I'll take it!

Yesterday was my daughter Tatiana's 10th birthday. Awe... She's so thrilled to be in double digits. :rotfl: Because her birthday fell during the week and her Dad had to be at both work and school that day, we let her open her gifts but will really celebrate her big day tomorrow (Saturday) during our big Halloween party! The RSVP's are still coming in and I've heard some whopper ideas for costumes that people will be wearing... I think my favorite might be Popeye and Olive Oil! So lots going on for the next few days here but I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and I'll update with party news later on!

I hope you take lots of pictures so we can see your great party!! :thumbsup2

Absolutely! I don't know that I'll be able to capture the glow in the dark/black light elements, but pictures will STILL be had!

I can't WAIT to see pics of the party---say Happy Birthday to Tatiana for me!!! What a great birthday--I remember my 10th birthday---what a fun milestone!
