If you hop over to the DVC board and/or the DVC community board there will be lots of people with posts who've stayed there and can tell you about it. Sorry I can't tell you much from experience as I've not stayed there yet but hope that helps you some.
It's a DVC resort, so would probably fall into the "Home Away From Home" category. We stayed there last August, staying in a one-bedroom villa. Although not as spacious as the OKW DVC resort, SSR is nicely decorated and furnished. There is a king-size bed in the bedroom and a sleeper-sofa in the living room. Every unit - other than the studios - has a washer/dryer and a Jacuzzi. Our unit was on the first floor in the Congress Park area with a terrific view of the lake. There are community pools as well as the larger main pool. They have a spa, which we did not have an opportunity to try. The rooms have fully-equipped kitchens - large size refrigerator, oven, microwave, etc. There is a DVD player in the living room
The resort will eventually be very large. There is one restaurant now, with a limited supply of items to choose as well as a general store that stocks milk, snacks, etc.
It is a very easy walk to DTD, where the eating and entertainment choices are numerous. You can also take a boat ride to DTD. Bus service is available to the parks. Click for pictures - http://allearsnet.com/acc/g_ss.htm
Large in DVC terms, but it will be one of the smallest Disney resorts. SSR will have a little over 800 units. Old Key West is smaller with 500+ units. The Boardwalk currently has 700+ between the Inn and Villas.
The Wilderness Lodge is comparable with 700+ rooms and 130+ Villas.
Other than that, every other Disney-owned resort--value, moderate and deluxe--are larger than SSR will be upon completion.
I've stayed there 3 times. It is a very nice resort. The main pool is themed, upstate NY ,"High Rocks Spring Pool". It has a fun slide and zero entry pool and 2 hot tubs and a pool bar. Also a quiet pool. It is on the river across from DTD. It has a hot tub. It is very nice as well. It has an upscale food court. No burgers and fries. Also has a nice Bar called the Turf club, w/ pooltable, cocktails and snacks are served there. It has beautiful landscaping, lots of fountians. It is still under construction but never bothered us. We didn't hear anything. Busses to all of the parks. Walking distance and boat to DTD. You can walk to DTD to catch a bus to any resort for dinner. Hope this helped.
the studio has a queen bed (moderate would have a full bed) and a full sleeper sofa. very nice! because it is a studio (rather than a room) it has a kitchennett.
