Which one would you choose and why :):) I've booked SSR but have just seen a thread on Okw and it looks lovely. Think the main reason I chose there was its location to Downtown disney ( we're a family of. 2 adults & a 14 yr old )

OKW has bigger rooms and they are spread out in separate buildings so it doesn't feel as congested as SSR.

Own at OKW and have stayed at both resorts. Here's my pros and cons:

OKW
pros-
1- rooms are larger
2- rooms are laid out really well (love the full dining table and chairs and laundry room in 1BR and 2BR villas)
3- very quaint and pretty
4- if you request to be near the HH or Penninsular Rd bus stops you can get on bus at HH and go right out to parks...then when you come home from parks, you can get off at Penninsular Rd (1st stop)...this way you avoid the long internal bus ride (not sure there's a way to do that at SSR)***see map below
5- can boat to Downtown Disney
6- takes less points than SSR

cons-
1- long internal bus rides (if you don't get near HH or Peninsular stops)
2- boat to Downtown takes about 20 minutes and does not run very late
3- fake hard wood flooring throughout villa can make neighbors above noisy

SSR
Pros-
1- good dining venues (we like the CS place here)
2- can request Congress Park section to walk to Downtown Disney very easily

Cons-
1- carpeting in villas has been known to hold moisture (folks complain that SSR rooms are muggy)
2- long internal bus rides
3- small villas
4- bland theme IMO

Both are large resorts and you may be in a section that will be far from the main (HH) building/pool/dining/shop. We, personally, prefer OKW. We go for the villa size over the access to Downtown Disney (we don't spend much time at DD). Happy planning!

I would pick OKW and I would requests a room close to HH. I like the look and feel of OKW and we eat there at Olivia's almost every trip. Every meal there, breakfast, lunch and dinner have good choices at very fair prices (compared to other Disney TS restaurants)

We always have a car so being close to a bus stop wouldn't matter for us but we prefer preferred rooms and my husband would use the work out room every morning so being close to Hh would be essential for us.

I just don't really care for the look, feel or lay out of SSR. I would stay there over a value any day of the week but if choosing between OKW and SSR it would be OKW. The rooms are bigger even if you stay in a studio you get 2 Queen beds instead of doubles.

The point requirements if you rent points to stay there are lower at OKW then anywhere else on DVC resorts.

Staying a full week in a studio at OKW is only 64 points. Or around $832 if you rent points at $13 pp from David's DVC rentals. However, staying in a one bedroom the points jump way up to 176 points for the week/over $1800. Over double what staying in a studio costs. But the points required are still lower than anywhere else.

Old key west no doubt much nicer resort. I don't know if your using the studio room or the one bedroom room. The one bedroom is unreal it is the size of a one bedroom apt. I loved the place much larger rooms.

If going for a studio I would stay at SSR due to having the sleeper sofa to sit on instead of two beds. Otherwise, OKW.

If you're most concerned about walking to DTD, then SSR. Its a much quicker trip to get to DTD. However, the rooms at OKW are larger an require fewer points so if you don't mind taking the bus/boat to DTD, then I'd go with that, just try to get close to Hospitality House!

But with three in the family, two real beds like the OKW studio has (two queen beds, no sleeper sofa) might be preferred.

Thanks for all the replies . We have booked through disney so no points used. The main reason we chose SSR was because of how close it is to downtown disney however. We would still like to have nice accommodation & facilities - hopefully we have chosen this .:):)

You'll love SSR. Both are, in my opinion, the most relaxing resorts in Disney. The pool at SSR is lovely and I enjoyed the quick service as well. I also found the grounds to be beautiful and the resort in general is spaced out but I felt very walkable. We had great bus service and the ability to walk to DTD was wonderful! Its so nice to walk over and catch a bus to another resort for meals or a visit. I love OKW also so I don't think you can go wrong with either.

You have chosen nice accommodations so don't worry. We went through quite a few years of ONLY staying at SSR. (the only reason we stopped is because of budget limitations).

SO many people told us to stay at OKW and I know their rooms are bigger and it is a nice resort (we like to eat at Olivia's there), but we just love the location and the atmosphere at SSR and being able to walk to DTD (especially if your room is in CP or GS) is a great plus. The rooms are nice and I believe they recently went through a soft renovation. :thumbsup2

Don't worry, you won't be disappointed.:thumbsup2
