My family and I will be staying at Saratoga Springs in a few weeks. I would like to request a specific building in the Springs section. Of the two, which is closer to the pool, bus stop, and drink station (Artist's Palette) - rooms 4101-4436 or 3501-3836? I know that there are warnings about full buses as this is the last stop, but I am okay with that. I was hoping for a water view as well. Any specific room number suggestions?

Also, I have a dinner planned at Olivia's at Old Key West resort. Originally I thought that this was on the Saratoga Springs boat loop. However, I heard that this has changed due to the Treehouse Villas. Is this true? Then the best way to get to Old Key West (other than taxi) would be for us to take the boat to Downtown Disney and catch the OKW boat?

I am not very familiar with Downtown Disney. I have looked at a map and am a little confused as to where the boat stops (coming from Saratoga Springs.) Could someone clarify? I am traveling with parents with health issues- so anything I can do to shorten walking time is good.

THANK YOU!

Rooms 4101-4436 are closer to the pool, bus etc, in my opinion. I can't remember specific room numbers for water views though. To get to OKW there is a walking path between resorts if you don't mind walking. It may be less of a hassle than getting on one boat going away from your destination to get on another boat. I can't remember the exact distance from ssr to okw on the walking path.

If you request a specific room number, you are far less likely to get it than you would be if you made a more general request like "water view."

We landed up in Grandstand section, Room 8810, 4th Fl. (top floor), 2 BR. We didn't realize how great a location this was, the Backstretch Pool was right there. Also within a very short walk across the street brought you to the Main Pool, restuarants and Lobby. Bus stop there was always the first to be picked up and the first to be dropped off. Perfect location!

I agree. Personally I also wouldn't quibble over specific buildings in The Springs either. Those buildings are all very close together and you're talking about a difference of a minute or two walking to the Carriage House from the furthest building vs. the nearest.

The more specific you make your requests, the less flexibility the resort will have in assigning you to a room. If you only give them a handful of rooms to choose from and all are unavailable on your arrival date, you may end up in a very undesirable area. If your primary concern is being close to the Hospitality House, then request "The Springs" area and leave it at that.

I know you want a room closer to the main building, but we stayed in Congress Park last week and loved it. We had orginaly requested to be in the Springs and did not recieve it, but we were all happy with the room we recieved. We had great views of DTD and the lake it is located on. We were steps away from the building's quiet pool and the bus stop was extremely close. The main building was a very short walk of about 5 minutes and once you stay at SSR for a while you learn the quicker ways to take instead of the way listed on the map. Our room was number 2511 in Congress Park.
Good Luck and Have a Fun Trip!!:)

Does anyone know if SSR does anything special or unique or interesting in August? At the real Saratoga Springs, NY that is racing season and the whole town is abuzz and there's a certain excitement in the air. I doubt there's an OTB on site but anything for racing season stand out?

We have older kids but I do remember that there were alot of pool games for younger children available all day at the SSR, some involved horse racing. No OTB that I know of in area, isn't that a NY thing? (live on Long Island)
