Sanford or MCO

Has anyone flew into Sanford instead of MCO? How big is the airport? It is close to WDW? Any info is appreciated!

I'm not sure about flying in there. It seems as thought the service is quite limited -- mostly charter service.

Sanford is a small airport and is about one hour from WDW.

We flew into Sanford last Nov. from Worcester Ma. Sanford is a relatively small airport. In fact, the guy we traveled with said it used to be an air force base decades ago, when he was in the service. However, it was quite nice and I wouldn't hesitate to use it again. It was about 50 minutes out of wdw. We used Tiffany Towncar. It was twice as much for them to go to Sanford as it was to MCO. Our next trip will be into MCO since Worc. Airport is losing more and more carriers!!! It's just not feasible to use them anymore!

My BIL flew into Sanford and had to take a cab to MCO to pick up his rental car. He wasn't going to WDW but said he wouldn't fly there again because of that hassle.

I'm flying into Sanford in december and getting my rental car there. The 50 minute drive is fine with me.

I would use Orlando (MCO) not Sanford. There are many flights in and out of MCO so if something goes haywire your whole trip is not ruined. I am a firm believer in not using airports that don't have many flights to and from my destination. You are asking for trouble if your flight gets cancelled. It is too bad because small airports can be enjoyable. It is up to you but I would use Orlando MCO. You'll have more flight options.

I saved $214.00 flying into Sanford instead of MCO. TTC is twice as much from there as MCO, does anyone know of a cheaper car service? Rental is out of the question since I really don't want to pay $300 for a car to sit in the lot. Sanford's web lists a bunch but figured I'd ask the "experts"!
