Any suggestions for a hotel in San Juan for a few days prior to our cruise. Nice pool, maybe a beach, within walking distance or close to things to do in town.

I recommend the Caribe Hilton. It has a private beach and nice pools. They just completed a $150 million renovation. You can easily grab a cab to old San Juan, which is nearby. Next to the hotel is Paseo Caribe, which has some nice restaurants.

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde and liked it a lot. We actually liked it so much we're staying there again in January before our next cruise. It's very nice, right on the beach. Beautiful ocean front dining and a nice pool. The only thing is there's not much walkable around there. You'd need to get an uber or taxi into OSJ. The Caribe area is much more walkable with more restaurants, but a lot of the hotels that had availability only had double rooms with full size beds and there's 4 of us, so that was a no go. We need at least two queens. But for us the Courtyard will be perfect for just one night.

Was the transfer easy to port?

I highly recommend the Condado Plaza Hilton. We did a DCL cruise in 2016 which debarked in San Juan and we stayed a night at the Condado Plaza. It was very close to the port, beautifully maintained, and near lots of local restaurants. It had 2 pools (one regular, one ocean water) and easy access to a semi-private ocean beach. I know it got whacked hard by Hurricane Maria but they appear to be open as usual now.

We stayed at Carribe Hilton as well. I took a chance and bid on a 5 star on priceline and got it for $99 a night 2 nights prior to a Princess Cruise we were on.

I also stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde after one of my Disney Cruises. It's a really nice hotel and it is right on the beach. Transportation from the port to the hotel was easy in my situation since during my WBTA cruise I met a couple that where staying at the same hotel who had arranged for limo service so they invited me to ride with them.

I’d recommend the Marriott La Concha. The beach and pools are great and there are restaurants within walking distance. We’ve stayed there twice within the past few years and we love it. We didn’t rent a car and it was easy to taxi into Old San Juan.

hmmm our TA hasn't asked us to choose - at least not yet.

Oh, sorry for the confusion! I meant you have to choose between the two in general, not through Disney. I book independently so I don't know what they offer.

Hotel Miramar is outstanding. We stayed there after our Southern Caribbean loop a couple of years ago. The hotel is small, but the service is A+!
