San Angel Inn?

When we were there last month it was crowded, but in spite of the crowds, our waiter was friendly and very attentive. Also, our food was hot and delicious, although it's true, it's hard to see what you're eating in there! We love the atmosphere, though. Even DD7 enjoyed her burrito meal from the kids' menu. My margarita with 3 different flavors (can't remember the name) was awesome!

My favorite TS at Disney. Great atmosphere and I really like the food. It is not Tex-Mex but more authentic Mexican.

We've always had great food there, but we stick to the authentic Mexican dishes. The people who seem most disappointed seem to order texmex. I think the texmex must be bad.

It is a must do restaurant for us for food and atmosphere. The only thing bad is that we have always had to wait for the table to be ready even when we have an early ps.

This has got to be the worst restaraunt in WDW. I've eaten there three times and had horrible either cold or lukewarm food along with bad service every time. The first time (Jan '05) I took my eldest son and GD. She was the one who finally said 'can we just leave, this stuff is horrible?'. We left our food on our plates and had to go elsewhere to eat. I took my younger son and D-I-L back in Sept '05 and despite our warnings my D-I-L wanted to try it. Again we left our cold food and had to go elsewhere to eat. We had a very surly rude waiter that night, that my son really wanted to report to a manager. Also we were on the DDP, but no way was I going to waste a TS credit on that meal, so I asked to use my DDE card for my order while my son and D-I-L used the DDP. I was very rudely with rolled eyes and a huge sigh told I couldn't and that he 'wished WDW would stop offering these discounts'. Sept '06 my mom really wanted Mexican food and refused to believe it could be as bad as both my sons, D-I-L, GD, and myself told her so we gave it one more try. She ordered some kind of chicken mole. I intervened and informed her it would have sugar in it (she's a diabetic). The waitress spoke up and said 'no their mole didn't have anything sweet in it. Unfortuantely my mom took one bite and almost choked. The sweetness went straight to her head. We finally flagged our waitress down and her only comment was "Oh I'm sorry. I guess it does". She then said there was nothing she could do as she walked away. Again we left our cold/lukewarm food on our plates and walked out. The funny thing is we've always had to wait past our ADR time, even though we can see plenty of empty tables in there.

Like I said on another thread, we did not like San Angel Inn. Our local Mexican restaurant has much better food, for much much less. If you want something other than chicken tacos and flautas, this is probably the place for you. Most of the stuff on the menu we had never even heard of.

Does anyone know when the rehab will be over? I was considering it for dinner in early March with DH, but I forgot about the rehab. I don't think it will be done by then. I think I might save it for later.

Which is why I like it there. It is not what everyone expects nor likes, but many do. Read the menu before deciding if you want to try it or not.

As for service, I have never had bad service, but have had indifferent service. Also had very good service as well.

It's definitely not a favorite of ours. The food is bland and lukewarm and the service is sloooow. The tables are crammed so close together that you can barely make your way to the ladies room without inhaling past everyone's chairs. I agree with other posters that it's either love it or hate it.

DH and I tried San Angel for the first time last year despite less than stellar reviews.

It turned out to be a very good meal, except for the dessert selection. I had the nachos, the Pollo a las Rajas, and the flan. Dh had the Sope Tradicional, the Filete Motuleno (which he could cut with a butter knife) and the Capirotada de Chocolate Blanco, which he wasn't wild about.

The tortillas and salsa before the meal was a nice snack while we waited on our food, and I enjoyed the margaritas immensely.

Yeah, it was a little crowded, but then again, all the restaurants at WDW have you sitting in other people's laps. Pack em in, and you'll make more money.

We will definitely eat there again, DH raved about the filet all week, and that was even after eating at Le Cellier, Concourse, etc.

Re: the mole. It is a traditional mole. My husband had it right after a Mexico City business trip and said it was as good as what he ate there. Mole will have a little sweetness to it - it is made with chocolate. If you like Mole, you will like it. If you don't like mole or aren't familiar with it, it may not be the dish for you.

The Filete Motuleno is our must order dish. It is fantastic and has some of the best quality beef on the property.

We ate there about a year ago - showed up right at opening and got a nice table by the water. Food wasn't bad at all, but by the time we were finished the place was filling up and it took quite a long time to get our check.

Yeah, definitely wait until you can see all of the scenery. The atmosphere is the great thing about this restaurant. It's one of my favorites just because of that. The food is decent.

I used to really enjoy it, but on our last time there was disappointing. Maybe it was because our ressies were at 8:45. It seemed like they were out of the appetizer I wanted. thought that my diet coke tasted flat. I tried DS's sprite and it also had a funny taste. I ended up drinking lemonade. I don't know if they ever "clean" their lines. The atmosphere is great though.

We loved the setting (had a table right next to the river), but I have to agree the food was bad. I eat almost anything and did not like it. It was cold and bland and the tips of the meat were hard and dried out. We will not go back again.
