Finally photos done we were taken to Martha’s Vineyard next door to Ariel’s we could hear everyone having a good time but we sat with Stan, Bonnie and Randy and some of the CM’s. Tracy bought us out a glass of Fairytale Cuvee to share and some water plus some of the hors d’ouvres for us to try; Duck Quesadilla’s, Crab Cakes and Caribbean Pork all were scrummy.

DJ Richie then came out to meet us – he looked so smart and dashing and was so polite and a little smooth – I loved him !! We chatted about the music and he had practically everything I needed except for my Throw the Bouquet song I had originally wanted “Girls on Film” by Duran Duran but I hadn’t given him much notice on this so he suggested “Man I Feel Like a Woman “ and I agreed that that would work.

So finally at 1pm Mr and Mrs Paul Byrne were announced into Ariel’s.

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/Entrancea.jpg">

We went straight to the dance floor in front of the fish tank and our song started to play “Hello Again” by Neil Diamond, no sooner had we started to sway when Paul lost it tears welled up in his eyes and he buried his head into my neck I welled up too but was determined to hold it together we had to get through this dance – we laughed and smiled and actually tried not to look at each other through the dance for fear we would both lose it again. The song means so much to us and it was just perfect to hear it on our wedding day.

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/dancea.jpg">

Phew first dance over with it was time to take to our sweetheart table – this was the first time I had seen it and it was just perfect. Emily had done such a wonderful job and added conch’s to our table the themeing was wonderful and as I looked around the room it was fabarooney to see so much pink.

We then received 2 toasts from each of our brother’s – I had specifically asked Paul not to speak as I knew it would make me cry and so I asked him to save his speech for our “at-home” reception – this was indeed a good call as both Stephen’s and David’s little toasts both had me blowing at my hair again, I was so proud of my brother who managed to keep it together. Both David and I are such emotional souls, we’re very alike so I think we were both keeping each other strong, coz when we start blubbing we really can’t stop.

Toasts over with – the meal was then served – I had asked for “Be our Guest” to be played but I guess this got forgotten, it was no biggy as no-one else knew I had asked for that so it didn’t really matter although I had included it on our CD favours.

Oh wow I had forgotten to talk you through the favours – and all the little stuff. Our supplier and friend, Minda, and I worked as a double act on these – originally I had planned on doing everything but I ran out of time so Minda very kindly agreed to help me.

I managed to make the place cards to go with the holders:

Minda made the Table card/pendants:

I had made the Menu’s thanks to some instructions from a friend and then also burnt CD favours. The wine glass charms I purchased from ebay, we had sea horses, starfish, seashells and sand dollars:

Minda made our chocolate shells to fit in with the theme:

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/shellsa.jpg">

OK so the meal was served we started with :

Lobster Cake with Cilantro Cream

<img width=400 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/meal5a.jpg">

Clam Chowder or Baked Potato Soup – I managed to have a bit of both and they were lovely.

Then we had an intermezzo of Tropical Sorbet

<img width=400 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/meal6a.jpg">

Finally the main course was served either filet, chicken or Portobello Mushroom. This is where we stumbled on a hiccup. At the Planning Session we had deffo agreed on the Mushroom for the veggie dish and three of our guests had pre-ordered this however I had failed to see on my BEO that the veggie option said Chefs Selection WITH Portobello mushroom so out came a cheese and potato lasagna with mushrooms on the side – nope I wasn’t very happy about that but Tracy checked with all three guests and only Mandy my MoH said she wouldn’t eat it for whatever reason, after all I had promised her a big juicy mushroom so Tracy organized for her a fresh salmon fillet – it looked scrummy and she was very pleased. Next hiccup we were a filet short –w ell on the corner of every place card there was a colour coded Mickey – but it seems that the waiters had given a filet to Cameron even though he had a yellow Mickey – of course Cameron was too polite to say anything so it meant that one of our guests Bill was short of the filet that he had ordered. Now you would have thought that the kitchen had cooked a couple of extras just in case things like this happen but oh no. Bill is also a real stickler, bless him, and when Tracy came over to Paul and I to tell us what had happened we actually laughed our butts off because of all the people it could happen to. Tracy was getting a fresh filet cooked so Bill had to watch everyone eat there’s. I went over to check that he was OK and he was good humored about it so it was all good. Tracy handled these hiccups very well and I certainly didn’t let them bother me for one sec after all I had my meal and I was more than happy LOL at this stage I was way past caring.

For the 40 of us we had just two waiters – Mike and Michael, they were stars and did their utmost to remain professional which is hard with a rowdy crowd like ours.

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/waitersa.jpg">

During the meal Paul and I visited each table and chatted with guests – we went and looked at the cake table and really just took in the surroundings. – we hadn’t seen how the Guest Book Table had been decorated so we had a nose. We also loved what Emily had done to our sweetheart table.

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/GuestBooka.jpg">

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/sweet3a.jpg">

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/sweet1a.jpg">

So what else did we get up to – well we gave out more pins to the waiters, barman, Randy, Stan, Bonnie and DJ Richie and they all wore them with pride.

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/randya.jpg">

Then it was time for the cake cutting. The cake looked absolutely fabulous and Minda had also chosen and ordered these napkins. I had gone to PSA Essentials and ordered cake boxes as I was sure there was gonna be lots of cake left over LOL it ended up that I had lots of boxes left over.

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/napkin2a.jpg">

<img width=400 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/cakeboxa.jpg">

Then horror of all horrors I suddenly realized that I did not get Paul and I a cake serving set – but I looked by the cake and saw that our EM had organized one for us so a huge sigh and a realization that I managed to save myself some money. We were then introduced to the professional cake cutter and server OMG I found this hysterically funny that they had a waiter whose job was specifically to watch over us as we cut the cake then serve it to us and then take the cake out the back to prepare it for the guests to eat, pretty cool and dare I say only in America !! We managed to fulfill our cake cutting duty and we fed each other but we were nice to each other too and didn’t smash it even though Stan was egging us to do that.

Dear Samantha,
Your wedding and reception were beautiful--and so were you. You, your friends and the Disney planners did a spectacular job. The detailed descripton in your trip reports brings the events vividly alive, so now many of us have become virtual guests at your wedding.
What a strong girl you were to hold it together during the first dance when Paul started to cry. As I read that months later and thousands of miles from that touching scene, I was boo-hooing enough for both of us.
May your marriage be as charmed as your wedding.
