Winter Olympics No Video Thread

What a day for female athletes! I'm really going to miss the Olympics!
The only Olympics I missed after the coverage was the summer 1992 Barcelona and John tesh giving the back stories...I really enjoyed that coverage... unfortunately... I 🤔 🤔 and heard that only 10% of the viewing audience enjoyed that feature and greatly dismissed the concept in further televising ..of course I had the 1988 all day as I didn't have to work but no recollection.....1996 I was teaching summer school and my Olympics curriculum made the 📰 📰 📰 newspaper

You won’t miss the TAPE DELAY AND ONLY TAPE DELAY practice of NBC and CBS’ respective coverage. Social media has changed the Games. Yes, NBC still has tape delayed prime time games but ALL EVENTS ARE NOW LIVE as opposed to back in the day when live coverage was severely limited.

I got a Canadian satellite TV system just before the 2000 Olympics. It was heaven. Not only did CBC air events live (yes, at all hours of the night in North America), but the satellite TV company had multiple other channels going simultaneously. I was able to watch Cathy Freeman win the 400m at the same moment that friends of mine and tens of thousands of other wildly cheering Aussies in the stadium saw it happen.

In that and subsequent Summer and Winter Olympics, I was watching events live while my neighbors waited for an American network to show them later. I'm very happy that NBC (OTA, on cable, and on Peacock) is now doing such extensive live coverage.

Ooh, I’m excited for the snowboarding events! But honestly, curling always has my attention—there’s something about it that’s oddly satisfying to watch. Can’t wait for the opening ceremonies, though!

So after watching the figure skating... which I normally only do at the Olympics, I noticed a trend this year that I had not noticed before... touching the ice during and after their routines

folks reaching down in their routines , putting their hands down onto the ice.... spinning on knees....and then after it ends, flopping down at the end. Is this new or am I just noticing it for the first time? A couple of times I thought folks might be falling but then realized it was part of the routine when they kept doing it.
