Salt Water Taffy?

I was watching the Travel Channel's Summer Vacation marathon today, and they showed the Boardwalk in Atlantic City and how they have the Salt Water Taffy.

Then I realized I hadn't had any taffy in years! We will be at Disney's Boardwalk in three weeks. Do they have a place on the Boardwalk that sells it? If not, is there any place in Disney that does?

My girls are both getting braces this summer, so this may be their last chance to have taffy for a LONG time!

yes, most of the candy stores sales taffy. definitely goofy's candy in DTD had it!

At the Confectionary at MK, you can fill three different sized bags full of taffy. All you have to be able to do it fold the tabs shut on the top. I cram the smallest bag full and it lasts a long time. Each sized bag is a different price.

That sounds fun! Maybe I could let both of my girls do this and DH and I can share their bags. Thanks for the suggestion. We could get some while we are waiting for Wishes!

The taffy at the ice cream/candy store on the boardwalk was in a box and it was hard. It seems like it was made in new jersey or something, which would have been good if we had actually been in new jersey! It might stay on the shelf too long.

Just wanted to add you can do this at DTD as well. I always fill the small bag up for my mom and we cram it full too! I find it to be a great bargin!

I've only seen "taffy" not "salt water taffy." It's good, but nothing like what's here at the Jersey shore. We get spoiled here and there's nothing else like it.

I also am a taffy lover. I always get my "fix" at the candy store on Mainstreet. I filled a medium size bag for $6 or so if I recall correctly. Well, it was awful. It was hard and the flavor was pretty bad. I ended up throwing most of it away. I don't think I'll get any this year!

Wahoo... I'll be in Ocean City NJ is a few weeks for vacation. I'll eat enough salt water taffy for all of you. Ocean City is kinda the town over from Atlantic City. Sorry..

It's in Wildwood, right? It's the one with the big barrel on top I believe.

Must be Wildwood--it's where we always went for our summer vacation in the mid-late 50's. I always liked James because they had lots of flavors, and the taffy was wrapped with the flavor name on it. Now what you mostly see is just a box with red-white -yellow and green taffy tasting pretty much the same.

This may be a strange question, but is it possible to make your own taffy? I know they have those big machines that make it, I was just curious.
