Popping in to see if my mom stopped by yet (LilBug). I just FORCED her to create a DIS user so she could tag-team PTR with me about our Mother's day trip. She's a hoot- just wait 'till she "buzzes" in. (OK, bad pun).

Wow! I'm going on a mom & me mother's day trip too. I really think my mom is going to love the F&G fest at EP and she'll probably like the Davy Jones of the Monkees concert too! I can't wait!

Those things were the exact way I sold the trip to my mom too. My MIL, on the other hand, is being kidnapped from a humdrum life and held captive in the lush tropical paradise we call the Polynesian for a few days, as a total surprise.

Ok, stupid newbie question coming!

It's not specifically about the resort but kinda about the trip in general. So I put the deposit down for our trip when I booked to hold the rooms. I am making the final payment Thursday and I was wondering if Disney sends anything afterwards? Do they send a vacation packet or anything like that?
This trip is a suprise for the kids, they have no idea we are going and won't know until we pull onto World Drive. If something is coming in the mail I want to make sure that I am the one at the mailbox before any of the kiddos for the next couple of weeks.

Ok, you guys are definitely a Wild Jamborini Bunch because I can't keep up with you between AKL Lite IV and now V and 10+ pages in!
I finished the threads from IV and resisted a post there so I didn't bump it up more and as a newbie to your fun, I am most definitely not worthy enough or old enough to be a last poster. (I did just celebrate a big birthday milestone on Monday, but I have a feeling I could be one of the younger ones out of the regular posters based on your anniversary and grad years, at least I have many wise people to help me share my love for AKL).

Northeast. My mom's birthday is late April. We always joke that winter doesn't end until it snows on Mom's birthday!

I have family in Vermont and I just got an email from them yesterday: "This is it; no more! Next year, closing up the house Jan & Feb and heading to Myrtle Beach!"

I lived in Minnesota, North AND South Dakota and there your mom would have had to have a May birthday to guarantee winter's end!!

I live in MA and we have had snow in May before so to be safe I would have to say a June birthday ! This winter has done me in!! I am begging DH to let me move to Orlando!!!! He got me DVC at AKL instead!

Things MAY have changed since last I paid for rooms, but the only thing I remember them sending after final payment is an invoice/confirmation showing that there is no balance due. Nothing flashy...though it WAS in a "Disney envelope".

Full disclosure: We haven't booked a cash room on property since 2006-ish.

Saying the same thing for our part of the State for Friday.

It may technically be spring...but I need spring weather BAD. Starting to get cabin fever. Those couple of days we had earlier this month were NOT enough.

I agree, I think that was the hardest part for me, having 2 or 3 days in a row that were in the 70's really pushed me for spring weather....

I have not had a pay for room since 1991 so I really don't remember.... Hopefully someone on here can answer your question. I love that you are surprising your kids, that will be great and a memory to last a good while.

***** On another note - I made the bow tie bacon pasta - can I just say, HOLY COW - this is SO GOOD - I mean bacon and chocolate are fine - BUT - bacon and cream cheese........... come on, it's just crazy good!!!!! I took a pic with my phone, but, uhhhmmmm I don't know how to put it on the computer........ waiting for DH to tell me how!!!
