I found this website, http://safetytat.com/, where you can buy personalized temporary tattoos with your phone number for your child to wear, especially in public places like the zoo and Disneyland! :) I think it's a pretty smart idea. Has anyone tried these?

Thank you so much for posting about these. I just purchased some after seeing your post (within minutes, actually!) I like to have ID on my dd4 whenever we go to crowded places. Sometimes she doesn't like some that are provided by the particular place, i.e. bracelet, dangly tag, etc. These sound perfect! :thanks:

Wow- I wish I has known about these sooner. We are leaving in a little over a week for a two week CA trip. I bought a metal tag to put on DD's shoe, but these would definitely have been better. I don't think I can get them in time now, though.

It reminds me of when I was pregnant. I swore to DH that as soon as she was born, I was going to use a Sharpie marker to write "Property of [Kimberlina]" on her so that the yahoos at the hospital I work at wouldn't give her to someone else.... ;)

Had to laugh as we learned from a friend to Sharpie our kids. The first time we did it their eyes got so BIG! We explainded if they are ever lost to show a cast member and it has both our cell numbers to call.
Glad a company is making a few dollars and furthering the safety of our little ones.:)

Thanks for the info about the Safetytat's. I would have seriously considered getting them, but it sounds like they are not suitable for kids who have latex allergies. Alot of bandaids contain latex due to the adhesives used. My DS who's 5 yrs old is allergic to latex, as am I, otherwise I would have definitely ordered them. Still it sounds like a great product.

I like those. We got DS a whose shoe id for his shoe. He doesn't like those tatoos he rubs them off. DD would like them though.

I'm glad the site has helped some! Maybe they're too new to get advice from those who have used them before. We're definitely planning on ordering some - I'm trying to figure out which of our cell numbers (mine or DH's) to put on them.... that's the question for now. :)

Aaaaack!!! Does it actually say they contain latex? I didn't even look. I wonder if DD's other temporary tatoos have latex. She isn't allergic, but I am, and I don't need to be exposed to it anymore than I already am. Thanks for the heads-up.

I see that it says medical-grade adhesive, but I couldn't find (in my VERY quick look at the website) that it actually says latex, so I just sent off an email to find out for sure. We use medical-grade adhesive in the hospital I work, but we are latex free, so I'm going to cross my fingers and hope- we travel a LOT and this would be nice to have.

ETA that I will post and let you all know what they say for all the other latex-allergic people out there.

I got a nice reply back from the company already. I have good news:

SafteyTats do not contain latex, for those of you who need to know. "Our products do not contain latex. As a precaution we recommend you test a small area before applying for long durations."

The person who replied to me had actually already seen this thread and wanted to reply to let people know there is no latex in them, but is having trouble registering. Perhaps he or she will get it sorted out and be able to post, though.

I also asked about turn-around time. At this time, it is about 2 days plus shipping via UPS. That's quick!

ETA that the company has changed the website to reflect that they are indeed latex free. They rock!

Thanks for posting about your response! We haven't ordered them yet, and don't have any latex allergies in our family, but I'm cautious of everything because my niece has a lot of allergies. How funny that the person had already seen the thread! I guess they're marketing to Disney guests? Oh, and it's great to know that the turn-around is quick... gives me more time to figure out which cell number to put on. I wish we could put on both... still gota figure that out! ;)

That sucks it is too late for me to order these! We leave On Saturday Morning. They sound perfect for us though. Oh well I am off to Pet Smart tonight to make dogtags with our cell numbers for the kids.

I've never heard of the dogtag idea! We haven't yet taken DD out in major public places at an age when she could get away, so I'm not up on my safety precautions yet. Anything else I should know?
