We will be on the Wonder for the April 18th sailing. This is our 7th cruise in the Carribean, but first on Disney. This is also the first time I have ever heard of sea lice, or Safe Sea. I feel a bit skeptical, but am wondering if I would be foolish to ignore the warnings. Can anyone tell me if sea lice would be active at the time of our cruise? If so, would they be present in Nassau as well as CC? Is Safe Sea something we should not be without?? Thanks for your help!!!!

We were at Castaway Cay last Friday and we all used it...but my brother did not and didn't get any rashes.
I have swam in the Bahamas, Nassau, Freeport etc.. several times over the years and had never heard of sea lice or seen any.
However after reading about it on these boards I figured why not be safe...so we bought some 30SPF Sea Safe and used it as our sunscreen.
Now in Grand Cayman we saw a beach when we were horseback riding and there were lots and lots of little button size jellyfish that would have stung quite a bit if you chose to swim there.
However we swam over in 15 mile beach and had no problems.
I believe if you search this board you will find a post titled, everything you wanted to know about sea lice.
I think sea lice is seasonal and happens in the warmer months?
Good luck

I've been on 4 Disney Cruises and never even heard of Sea Safe. I've also never had a problem with the sea lice and jelly fish.

I would definatly get the Sea Safe. It is worth it! I didnt wear it when we went snorlking in St John and got stung a few times, not to pleasent. I made sure to wear it at CC and walked away without any new bites.

Just got off the Wonder in February and our day at CC was ruined by me being stung by jellyfish. It seemed like a considerable amount of people were stung that day. Anyhow, I've snorkeled before in different places and there was never a problem so I didn't even know about or think about using Safe Sea. (I honestly didn't even know it existed). That said, next time I'm going to buy it and use it because I REALLY want to snorkel at CC next time. I was so bummed out that I didn't go this time...
