eros....we all agree that you seem to lack the ability/desire to appreciate faith....which is unquestionably a foundation to any reglious belief. No more than anyone here can (or desires to) change your beliefs...why not just live and let live with those who differ from your beliefs?

So...in light of your above statement...tell us what is the point to life...is it simply to live as long as you can? And focus on the material things (and Heidi? )

Can you honestly say that science explains everything in the universe?
As a "doctor" can you honest say that you have never witnessed a birth, or dying patient exhibit some action that showed you that 'spark' of life? (that science can't/won't explain)

And if that is your 'meaning of life' why not simply state that...in that manner?

You're right, agree to disagree.....

We are in the medical field too, but there is a time when there is just nothing anyone can do to save life.

As for Sept. 11, all of the people who were late to work for one reason or the other, or the ones who had appointments out of town that day... or the ones who stayed home sick.... The tragedy could have been MUCH worse, as horrible as it was.

As for why I was able to avoid that deer the other day and the poor guy behind me hit it broadside, I don't have an explanation for that. Maybe the next time it will be my unlucky day.

You appear to believe in PRE-DESTINY, that the time and place of our deaths is determined by GOD. OK.

So, IF GOD had determined that the nearly 3,000 Americans who died on Sept 11 were "destined" to die on that day, then GOD would have had to be implicated in the hijackings and attacks that led to their deaths.

DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT A LOVING GOD WOULD DO SUCH A THING?????

I agree with the poster that said this belongs on the debate board if it is to continue. Sorry I was a part of the 'hijacking' of this thread.

My thoughts are with families that had loved ones killed and injured in the accident on I-4.

Threads on the DIS have their own life. I resent the sentiment that states that they MUST follow a specific scenario. I feel sorry for those who feel that they MUST respond in a "manner" that is "befitting" to a thread

Is it a DEMOCRATIC right to yell fire in a movie theatre? No. Why? It's disruptive and not productive given the purpose of the venue.

Is it "debate" to put forth statements with no other purpose than to solicit contray opinion/statements? Yes.

Goofy, it's DEMOCRATIC to yell "FIRE" in a movie theater, but it's also ILLEGAL because of the risk to life and limb which the words may foster. Here on the DIS, we have the old "Back" button ........

As for "debate", like sex , it takes TWO TO TANGO. I simply stated my views. I didn't SOLICIT anybody here. If someone chooses to respond, that's their privilege, even if you would like to take it away from them

....but posting off the topic of a thread...and in such a manner that any 'reasonable' person ,would with foreknowledge realize to be provocative...especially on a thread topic that is designed to express remorse and compassion towards or for others who maybe in an unfortunate state (ie. an traffic accident)....reasonably can be assumed to either be argumentive in nature...or in extremely poor taste....don't you think?

Eros I can't believe you would use this tragic incident to argue your disbelief in God... and so soon after its occurence. The first few posts were expressing feelings on the event, and you throw in why this could prove there is no God.

This reminds me of the NAACP using the James Byrd (the right name??) killing to campaign against George W. It's a sensitive topic and you exploit it. So much for liberals and their sensitivity, I guess that only applies to who you wish to apply it to.
