S.B. XL SEAHAWK fans...this thread's for you

No, the worst call had to be unnecessary roughness on Hasselbeck for "blocking below the waist" when he tackled the guy after the interception. It didn't have near the impact of some of the other ones - including the phantom holding call on the previous play - but it was an unbelievably bad call.

Some of the others were (questionable) judgment calls, but this one almost seemed like it was invented.

I've seen Brett Favre do this same exact tackle when there was an interception. (which is many) and he was called for "blocking below the waiste" too. They dig in with their shoulders towards the guys legs so they trip the guy. Al Michels did say though that the quarter back can do that - it isn't done so often, so that is why the official probably didn't know it wasn't illegal. Matt Hasselbeck was on the side-lines arguing with the extra ref, but Al Michels said you can't disgruntle a penality like that.

Someone said the Seahawks organization will be upset today-probably, but Mike Holgrem tried years ago to get the NFL referee's organization to be more responsible with officiating. Right now, who in their right mind would even want to be an officiant for any NFL games.

He wasn't blocking, though, he was tackling! Do you mean to say that you can't tackle below the waist? Were they serious with this one?

I guess I should rename this thread....Bashing the Steelers fan. Very appropriate, b/c that's what's been happening.

I've been posting on all kinds of SB threads. I'm not intentionally bashing the Steelers or their Fans. It's just that the officiating was so obviously one sided and most of the Steeler Fans are turning a blind eye toward the whole situation. An acknowledgement of the one-sided officiating would be nice. Heck I'd be ashamed if Seattle had been in the Steeler's position yesterday and won the game due to bad calls.

Well said.

It's pretty simple. Will Leavy be back working another SB?

The quarterbacks can actually tackle below the waiste. That is why Al Michels made the comment that the officiant obviously didn't know this rule. And that is why Hasselbeck was stating his case to the extra-official on the sidelines. I'm sure at training school for NFL officiants this will be one rule to learn.

update: 2:22pm this was not my intention either. It was other Hawks could find this thread easier. It'd fallen to page 4. sorry you took it the way you did. I should've used another smilie, my bad.

Dear all,

You know what, I really didn't have the intentions for this thread to turn out like it has. So, I am sticking out my hand to say, good game Seahawks. There are so many bigger problems, why does this have to be another one in the DIS community. I apologize for MY ______ you fill in the blanks that you feel necessary to be there. It truly wasn't my intention for this to get ugly. Feelings were riding high after the game from every one. You know, the bible talks about no one being righteous, not even one (Romans 3:10) and you know what I went over the line. The line (or post) was drawn and I crossed it. I know Jesus forgives me now and I hope eventually you all will too.

This behaviour is not what I want my children to pick up. As a parent, you understand this comment as well. So, I will not be crossing the line any more here or else where ever.

I've come to post what I want to say. I am truly sorry (I'm shaking) and remorseful. I do hope the Hawks get to where they were on Sunday again soon. Flame away if you want. I am truly done.

This post will be posted over on the Lets Go Steelers thread as well w/ little modification.

Sincerely,
taeja71
