Rumors that Disney is in negotiations to sell Star Wars back to George Lucas!

Or she's an actress and press tours and pretty clothes are part of the job. Maybe she just likes gaming. You're really stretching to justify your irrational hatred of her.
She told me not to like her, all I am doing is giving her what she asked for.

The entertainment this thread provides is amazing. Every time there is a decent conversation going on, it gets derailed by someone going after Brie Larson or some random thing for no reason.

Brie seems like a decent human and got caught in a storm of white males with inferiority complexes. I don't particularly feel her acting is the best of the best but she has been good in a lot of roles, including Captain Marvel.

I’m greatly enjoying Captain Marvel again. Talos remains my favorite. :)
Glad, because Disney+ sures needs the repeated views to justify keeping that hunk of garbage on their streaming platform. The platform that has lost $4 Billion dollars in the last 12 months by the way. I recommend you follow it up with a she-hulk marathon after you finish CM. That one needs your viewership also. Make sure you watch her twerking several times, that's the best part and pretty much summarizes the show well.

Captain Marvel is a good movie and I'm sorry your hatred of an individual you have never known, or will ever know, clouds your opinions.

The platform that Disney has claimed since launch wouldn’t be profitable until 2024 is losing money from 2019-2023. How shocking.

Currently losing approximately $1B a quarter, you think they will make that 2024 profitability goal?
Last 2 Quarters the losses attributed to streaming have dropped $421M from q4 22 to Q1 23 (-$1.053B vs -1.474B), and $394M from Q1 23 to Q2 23 (-$659M).

They have 6 quarters to flip that -$659M into some kind of profit. With a likely price hike coming in the fall.

That is not how you define profitable in 2024. Profitable in 2024 means overall profitability for the year of 2024. One profitable quarter in 2024 would in no way make the year profitable. How will losing those 4 million subs last quarter while Netflix grew subs play into your calculations?

They have taken steps the previous quarters and the next couple quarters to make it happen.

They will absolutely make that goal.
By writing off terrible performing IPs like Willow? Any other lucasfilm garbage overseen by Kathy Kennedy that they can write off?

They never said that the whole year would be profitable, only that the service would become profitable in 2024. This means that if they show a profit in Q4, than they were indeed correct.

Also, the losses came from India, due to the rights loss of cricket. The core Disney Plus grew, though U.S did decline a small amount. India had an average revenue of 59 cents a month, Disney is not missing those subscribers.

Writing off poorly performing content in the next two quarters frees up hundreds of millions in expenses that would have hit in 2024. Content costs that were already decreasing, all the while revenues increasing for the service.

So, move numbers around and just show profit one quarter is a win? Yeah, that's not how businesses work in real life.

I did hear that they have started back subbing out some content to other streaming services, so I could certainly see this a as a positive to profitability.

What part of "by 2024" do you not understand?

Iger even made it clear that he was talking about by the end of the fiscal year, not on January 1, 2024:

"Disney CEO Bob Iger on Wednesday reaffirmed the company’s longstanding guidance to investors that its streaming business will become profitable by the end of fiscal 2024."

https://deadline.com/2023/02/disney-streaming-profit-outlook-bob-iger-1235253673/

And that's exactly how businesses work in real life. If they say "by" a certain fiscal year, they mean by the end of that FY. Otherwise they say "by Q2" or something like that.

I hope you are right. Lord knows my stock holdings need some positive news as the below $90 a share is a territory, is an area I never really expected Disney to be in.

The flurry of box office bombs in the theater is sure not helping my hopes of a speedy financial turnaround.

I also wonder how the money owed for Hulu will play into the financials as well?

Imagine getting so mad about someone enjoying a movie that they turn it into an argument about how poorly Disney Plus is performing.

Disney Plus has Bluey, they'll be fine.
Bluey is owned by Ludo Studios and licensed to Disney for distribution. That really your shining example of Disney's stellar performance in streaming?

I have no issue with you liking CM, I hope you and the 4 other people worldwide that stream it today really enjoy it.

I think Iger is doing some really good things to try and get Disney under control and back on track to good financial performance. I just wish all the stupid choices in the recent past had not been made to get us where we are currently.

Here is my hope:
- Get back to a real theatrical window without quickly dumping things to Disney+
- Get your darn production budgets under control, and in line with the companies you compete with
- Get back to the wholesome family entertainment you are known for
- Get back to being politically neutral
