Rumors that Disney is in negotiations to sell Star Wars back to George Lucas!

They gave Will Smith one of those right after he went on stage and physically assaulted another man. Not sure I put much stock anymore into who they give those little trophies to.

So, let's take the Will Smith example and flesh it out. Will Smith has received massive backlash based on an action he took in public that alienated a large portion of his fanbase correct? How is this any different from the backlash Brie has received?

Will Smith physically assaulted someone. Brie Larson advocated for more diversity among press covering movies. How are these the same to you?

Seriously. The Fast and the Furious movies make me want to roll my eyes out of my head. But I don’t go making videos about them on YouTube and trying to convince everyone who likes them that they’re wrong.
These people know that negative topics on Youtube are better for the algorithm than positive ones and that's why they capitalize on it. But in general, if you don't like a piece of media, don't watch it. And don't harass the people involved with it. Those roles are just a job and paycheck for these actors and actresses.

A recent example is the new Scooby Doo reboot (which does look awful). SO many people are getting so worked up about it as if they are being forced by HBO Max to watch it.

Again, it really seems to be that if you mess with people's nostalgia, you are going to get flamed. That and grievance politics are behind a lot of this.

They are both are public actions that drew negative attention. One was a crime, so I give you that. However, Brie knew she was screwing up as you can literally hear her tell her director "please don't kill me". She knew she was stepping in it. Just like Will Smith knew he was stepping in it.

Yeah that I agree with. I still think it's not worth splitting hairs over.

Meanwhile I'm looking forward to August when people throw a tantrum over the Netflix live action One Piece adaptation releases and people cry about how "woke" it is. The source material has always been that way LOL

But you have examples of it being done correctly though and the fans love it. The Adam's family spin off was super well done and had great viewership on Netflix. Jenna Ortega went toe to toe with directors and put her foot down on how the character would do things. She changed the script multiple times to force them to stay true to the character. She was incredible in the role of Wednesday Adam's and I suspect you will see her career take off. She is a strong female character done perfectly, and true to the source material. There are clearly examples of it being done right, and the fandom loves those characters.

I’m gonna come right out and say it. Sometimes it’s good, if not morally imperative, to anger part of a fan base if that group holds hateful views. Ewan McGregor told all the racists to shove it when they said hateful things about Moses Ingram, as he should have. Thankfully Star Wars had his back. They haven’t for everyone.

Brie only got negative attention from misogynists and racists. Plenty of people agreed with her.

I had tons of issues with the entire Obi-wan series and Reeva was only one of those issues. She was one dimensional and angry the whole time. She somehow knew the perfect info at all the perfect times to get her what she wanted. She was way too overpowered. She somehow was nearly invincible, absorbing multiple light saber skewers. It just doesn't make sense for a character that is new and no one is ever heard of. It looks like a sociopolitical insert into the show instead of just organically good storytelling.

The stupid scene with the little girl under the trench coat was by far the stupidest thing in the show though. Even the young actress knew how stupid this was and said so in an interview.

Yeah, that's why she has gone on a multi-year press tour to try and rebuild her image. Showing tons of cleavage on late night shows. Working out in skimpy outfits. Playing video games to appeal to the gamer crowd. Even started a YouTube channel for a while in an effort to seem more relatable. It sure seems to me like she was attempting be fix the "not well liked" image she had.

I’m not even reading the justifications for people criticizing Moses Ingram. People made comments specifically about her being a woman and being Black. That’s what McGregor was calling out. If people didn’t do those things, they shouldn’t take offense.

Or she's an actress and press tours and pretty clothes are part of the job. Maybe she just likes gaming. You're really stretching to justify your irrational hatred of her.

Yeah but she should've been a nice Inquisitor who is never angry and died when she was stabbed, even though the Grand Inquisitor also didn't die when he was stabbed. But but justifications.
Yeah, because no other darkside force user ever showed a true range of emotions before. I mean in real life people are always one dimensional right? Just one driven emotion 24/7 correct?
