Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

:welcome: BACK !!

Well ............. ROL is still Rumors of Light at this point. And JB Alive is now dead and not too many are mourning the loss.

But we have attempted to have fun, share other info the fill in the hole ............. and Nomad Lounge opened with some good drinks.

Am sure there are some others with first hand. We were on the right half of FP+ and to the left the section did have at least one WC there and looked like some seats. Theater full when we arrived (no one wanted to sit close so we did) and I didn't look again when empty. I remember an old post stating ramps going to bottom.

Nomad Lounge sounds promising! I haven't read back yet, but they don't even have a projected date? Guess they were really off with that whole April thing! :confused3

Hey, Floating Bear! I was just thinking about you the other day! Great to see you back. Unfortunately not too much has really changed in the Lounge. Rivers of Light is still a rumor, and if you want to believe it, supposedly there will be a show coming out in October, but hey, it's just a rumor! Have fun catching up!

Hopefully good thoughts - ha! New show? Interesting! Still hoping to catch some nighttime fun at AK on my next visit!

Would love to hear how people are enjoying the night stuff there, generally speaking...

Hi! I was happy to see this thread pop up. I've been back 2 weeks today from our August vacation where we didn't get to see ROL. :rolleyes1 We did waste a FP+ on the Jungle Book show. There's 25 minutes or so of my life I'll never get back.

Nothing redeeming about the Jungle Book show, eh? It looks like a beautiful setting, at least! Hope your trip was great - heard there was really low attendance this summer, so hopefully you had short lines!

I'm dying. Hope is awful. I'd much prefer just knowing it won't happen. With my luck, it will start on October 9, since we leave on that day and we won't be back for at least 2 years and we are actual fan of AK. :(

Based on the ROL theatre setup, if you have an ECV guest in your party, is there an area designated where you could sit with them?

Here is some places with photos and info:

Someone posted this on another forum and matches what we saw (our photo but ours is in FP section) -

"Bad Seating: We did not have FP, so we were in the stand by section. Mom and Dad in-laws were both in scooters. we were escorted to the first row, an area reserved for handicap. Bad placement. You're on ground level with the water. If you can transfer out of your ECV, you are sitting on concrete bench. stages are on multi-level stationary barges and you can't see over them to see the other barges behind them. From where we were sitting, right in front of a speaker whose volume was set to "ear shattering & migraine inducing", you could not fully see the images projected onto the water."

You're in the same boat as me. We leave October 8th. The way my luck usually works out is that it'll open the evening of our departure day.

Since Disney finally released the Star Wars dessert package and extended hours for the parks last weekend I'm hopeful on an announcement for RoL soon. At this point the only thing not quite according to plan is my evening at AK so we'll make due. This whole thing has been beyond disappointing though. I thought I would see RoL during my May trip and now there is only a chance I will see it in October. Maybe it will be going strong during my May 2017 trip? I was hoping Avatar land would be open for that one.

Not likely! :sad2:

So if back row was offered we should take it. If they try to send us to the front with the ECV we should try to negotiate seats higher up and have our ECV rider disembark and walk to the seats with us???

We did not experience it first hand .... my guess is the ramps would be rough on W/C users so that is why they are sending the ECV down there and keeping the W/C at the top. I'm not sure if you will be given an option since ROL is bound to be packed to the gills and all HC seating will be maxed out.

My HOPE :tilt: is they learned from the JB show and the ROL will be more "pleasing". In my survey I did comment about those speakers being horribly loud and painful, so unnecessary in a peaceful park and that the barge stages were too big and blocked too much of the view ... a problem when the ROL floats are out there. We'll see, but taking all the "crap" away from the seating area will create a much more visible enjoyable show.

I mean, OF COURSE!!! Aren't details coming "soon"?!?!?!

:D

With their track record ............ I'm watching closely for pure entertainment purposes. They would be best to not say a word until 2 weeks after it opens and runs well ... then say "Did you hear? Rivers of Light is no longer a Rumor!" Come on down!"
